No for DV it's a licencing fee and Dolby gets some royalties from each tv sold, but only a couple bucks so nothing crazy. They also supplied Vizio with chips to decode the dv metadata/signal.

So the cost for the hdr10+ bandwagon is higher AND the quality is theoretically lower than DV?

Couple bucks per tv... Figured that would be implied. I'd recommend you read up on the matter

Good to know, I'd no idea about that. Hopefully they will support it down the line.

I think Amazon is the only OTT currently supporting HDR10+. Jack Ryan streams in DV, I'm not sure what else does, but no one thought Amazon would support DV again. No one definitely thought they would release a Fire Tv 4K with DV support.

Since WB and Fox have committed to releasing HDR10+ content (not part of the alliance though), and if the Disney Fox merger goes through (not 100% if it has yet) theres a strong chance that Disney's streaming service will have hdr10+ support. Not sure if Disney will shell out for DV (even though they deffs could), but there's a chance thanks to their movies being shown in Dolby Cinemas.

Just speculation but yea ATM Amazon is the only hdr10+ provider i know of rn.

Question: I have a 2016 P65-C1 which is good for DV, HDR, and HDR10. If Amazon is broadcasting a HDR10+ can I view the movie in HDR or HDR10? Or do I lose the capability to display those movies? thanks in advance for any advice.

If the Display/TV doesn't support HDR10+ it will be converted to HDR10.

As @skschatzman said it will play as HDR10.

Oh and just an FYI HDR is a generic term for High Dynamic Range which usually refers to the lowest level which is HDR10. If something is in a higher quality like HDR10+ or Dolby Vision it is usually identified as such.

This isn't technically a "TV" question, but it's definitely 2016/17 P-Series related.

Does anyone know if the Vizio XR6P tablet that was included with the Pxx-C1 series TVs supports USB OTG ("On The Go")? I received a DJI Spark drone for Christmas and would like to use it as the display for the drone's remote. It's the perfect size, and for best results you need an OTG cable to connect it directly to the remote rather than using wi-fi.

I'll have to see if it works on my DJI Mavic Pro.

That would be great, thanks!

I was originally planning on using my Samsung Note 8 but I have to remove it from the case to make it fit in the remote's grips. The grips also mess with the screen protector.

I don't use the Vizio tablet for anything now and its size/thickness matches up quite nicely to the drone's remote. I sure hope the OTG cable works; I have one for my Note and the difference it makes is significant.

I found an app that purportedly checks for OTG support; it claims that the XR6P does not have it. But the app also says that it may not be accurate. :/

Why not just install the app and try it out?

Because I don't have the Micro USB OTG M-M cable needed to do that.

I bought an OTG cable for my Note 8, and that works fine ... but it's USB-C. The Note 8 also doesn't fit very well in the RC grips with a case and screen protector on it. That's why I was hoping that the Vizio tablet was an option ...

Don't know what 'OTG' is all about, but my early test of my Vizio Tablet does indeed work with the Parrot SkyController II (kit includes the 'goggles') (came with USB-to-USB Micro cable - same as the longer Vizio charging cable). Haven't tested it all out completely yet, as the Parrot Bebop 1 Drone wouldn't turn on. All 3 batteries are bad. My brother just order a new pair of Drone batteries. Geesh. Is this the 'Year of The Drone'? Neighbor's gotta drone, you gotta drone, I gotta drone. We've been taken over by the drones!

Your Mavic was considerably more expensive than the Spark

Thanks, I responded to your post on r/VIZIO_Official. I feel bad about polluting this thread with a marginally-related topic. Reddit is still pretty much a cesspool, so I don't fret about it that much there ... crap/off-topic posts get down-voted to oblivion (along with a lot of good posts too, unfortunately).

How Time Flies

It's been awhile since I was here last. At that time someone was in contact with someone at Vizio. And that V had just finally admitted that there was a problem with the Lines, Ghosting, Grey areas, etc. But that their techs were looking at it. At the time, things were leaning towards"Hardware"? Was it figured out? Or, did a Patch fix things?

I bought my P65 E-1 in January from Costco. I've never had a issue with it. Never made any adjustments with 4K, HDR, etc. No updates, nothing. Do I need to Update? What will it give or take away or make better? I'm going to post on the Calibration Thread asking for some Basic Set-Up settings. Since I can't afford a Cal-Man or any of that kind of equipment.

Thank you for your time.

Vizio P65 E-1
FW: 3.3.18.6
42LTMAWKMT51151 (when was my set built?)
Cast Vers: 1.22.78594 (what is this?)
Cast Display 7392 (what is this?)

No Cable TV, no Blu-Rays. The Xbox One X is directly connected to the P65 with HDMI to 4K input. One X set to 4K. Sound goes from One to AVR via Toslink. A PC is connected to avr w/hdmi. then to P65 with hdmi (standard input) Is there any way to make sure the P65 is putting out a full 4K picture from the One X when i game? The P65 is my PC Monitor too. I stream films from it also.

Any Links, Sites, Tips would be appreciated.

So to put a bow on this little deviation into tangentially-related Vizio Tablet functionality, the XR6P (XR6P10) works fine with my very recently acquired USB OTG cable. Thanks to @shoman94 for his offer to verify with his own equipment, but it looks like it won't be necessary now.

FYI Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, the new choose your own adventure, Telltale Games-like interactive movie from Netflix works with the on-display app, but not via casting from the tablet or other device.

Ended up giving my P65-C1 to a friend but it just started to not want to power on and the power light just turns on and off. Had squaretrade coverage on it and at first they tried to fix it but claim the parts are out of stock. Now going through the low ball replacement phase. Was offered a D65X-G4 and two other Hisense's. Obviously will be declining and will be requesting full-refund unless they want to order a current gen P-series. Will post back when it's resolved.

Full transparency of what they offered. Obviously not even close to the 128 local dimming zones on the P65 so we aren't even in the same ballpark. I have read some other peoples accounts of how to deal with them and they usually make it right in the end.

I was hoping they would just fix it as it had no banding and also good gray uniformity. So it was one of the lucky ones some people on here would have killed for. Now even if I get a replacement P series we will be playing panel lottery.

Hey guys, finishing up changing some settings and was curious....On the SmartCast app I can see that it changes to HDR when that content is detected, does it do the same for Dolby vision? Same location? Or a different one?

Sorry if this is a stupid question....only mildly tech savvy...

Thanks!!
