P65-C1 working fine. The ones that die are probably the exception and those Owners will post if it happens

Hey, @VizioService any update info on the beta program and Apple support? TIA.

Zero problems with Feb 2017 P-50. Happy I bought an extended warranty that lasts until Feb 2022.

Yes, if you are spending more than "throw away money" on a modern TV, an extended warranty is really a cost that you should build in IMHO.

I currently do not have additional details at this time about the beta program. We will make a post as soon as we have more information about the beta program.

Was the DV problem ever fixed?

There was that problem that required the Backlight to be set at 30 for Dolby Vision. Has it been fixed yet?
Also what’s your opinions on using the P65-C1 only for HDR10 and not even using Dolby Vision?

Thanks

At backlight of 50 DV doesn't follow the EOTF. Mid tones are brighter than they should be.

I thought that issue was fixed with the 5.0.16.1 firmware.

The one possible exception being some specific individual calibrations that changed the EOTF.

No. I have tested every firmware and it was never fixed. The only thing Vizio did fix was allowing the backlight changes to stick. Before any changes to backlight would revert back to default(50) when the display was turned off/on.

I'm sure there is someone who does. But it's not a subject for this thread.

Quoting my own post as follow-up. Sparks flew, screen would not light. Replaced the 3 boards highlighted in yellow in the photograph below. The screen now turns on, but with dark spots mostly in the upper left quadrant. Thumbnails attached.

The sample photograph below isn't too bad, but any movie or TV show is unwatchable.

The various ribbons and connectors seem tightly connected. Any thoughts on next troubleshooting steps, or is the general consensus that the screen is unfixable?

Are the back screws in that region too tight? I seem to remember someone in the past had an similar issue caused by the screws/

Yes but those products are related to or are connected to the P series in some way.

Eg. Troubleshooting or inquiring about Image or audio formats from an xb1x or atv4k or Nvidia shield to the P-series.

No one asks "how do I fix wifi or Bluetooth on my Nvidia shield" without another member recommending them start their own thread or a mod deleting the post.

A couple possibilities. Maybe the install is screwed up somewhere. Maybe there is a defect in one of the replacement boards. Lastly maybe the original damage wasn't just the boards. Maybe some of the backlight zones we're also damaged. If the backlight is damaged, there is nothing you can do to fix them.

I'd suggest trying one of the Vizio soundbar threads rather than the P series thread.
