Cec control continues to be further broken with each firmware update. I've long changed cec to "arc only" and been using a harmony remote.

A factory reset may work but probably not.

How is clear action STILL broke? What is going on?
@VizioService @VizioService @VizioService

Can we get an update on CLEAR ACTION getting fixed?

You guys broke it with a firmware update months ago.

Try with a new 6ft HDMI premium certified cable. Monoprice one. Also ensure arc is enabled on both devices. Toggle if needed.

If it still doesn't work factory reset.

Also try toggling Audio from Auto to bitstream or visa versa.

Yeah, have the monoprice premium cable, toggle multiple times, nada. It seems to have a problem with my Onkyo TX-NR676. I got it back briefly after factory resetting my P65-E1 but after turning it off it refuses to see the receiver any longer (sees my Shield just fine). I tried turning off CEC/ARC completely and just using an optical cable, but the TV is only outputting standard DD. With CEC/ARC on it also will only output standard DD unless the TV sees the receiver (which it doesn't).

Very, very, frustrating. I'd reset the TV again but I'm getting tired of it.

One last option, that I had to do for ARC to my Samsung 7.1.4 system....

Turn off Enhanced option on my P series ARC HDMI port. That will limit HDR to 30Hz or less input to the P display. Output from the other P series HDMI ports won't be affected.

Won't work because my receiver needs to be connected to the ARC port to get DD+/Atmos, I'll just be limiting all my other devices connected to my receiver.

Yes it is a pretty limiting kludge. Luckily I only have my Oppo player and AppleTV4K going thru the ARC port with the rest of my devices switched into the P65. Hope you find a fix.

I have an Onkyo TX-NR787 and CEC/ARC is (at the moment) working fine. I had an issue before the recent 7.x.x.x update where it wasn't, though, and posted here about it. Unplugging the power from the receiver and plugging it back in again resolved the problem.

Since post editing appears to be broken, I'll just have to quote myself ...

I should also mention that I'm using the Amazon Basics 10' HDMI cables, not them fancy-dancy Monoprice ones.

That "fancy" monoprice cable costs like $8.

I tried unplugging both my TV and receiver for hours, and no go. I'll reset both devices one last time and if that doesn't help I give up.

Yikes. In my case I'd only unplugged for maybe 15 seconds, so I'm not optimistic that it'll fix your issue. I hope resetting fixes it ...

I have an Apple TV 4k as well, I don't really use it, I tend to like the TV's smart-apps mainly because it scales all the output properly (and offers true DD+/Atmos audio, instead of putting a "layer" on the system sounds like the ATV4k does. I suppose if I have to use it I will.

I suppose I can use my Shield too, but then I sacrifice DV support.

Except the Smartcast apps are so very slooooow. That's mostly the reason I use them the least.

They are, it’s because they’re HTML5 based. Poor planning on Vizio’s part. You can always cast from your phone.

The ATV 4k does have some pretty cool integration with the TV app. When I tell it to play something on my iPad it starts immediately.

Do a factory reset. P55-c1 and p50-c1 turn on and off via cec just fine if connected device supports feature (e.g. apple tv).

So I had a feeling this wouldn’t work. It did not. Not only did I lose my calibration, I can no longer do Dolby Vision. Before I was able to set my Apple TV to use DV but now, if refuses. It will only use 4K HDR. Literally nothing changed except resetting the tv.

Did you try resetting the ATV as well? Maybe it's that device rather than the display?

It’s not the ATV. So I plugged the ATV directly into the display. It picked up Dolby Vision fine. It also turned the display off when I put the ATV to sleep. However, when I connect it back to the Onkyo, no Dolby Vision and it doesn’t turn it off. Again, I have no clue as all this was working previously?

Make sure Onkyo receiver is running latest firmware.

Also try unplugging all 3 devices. Reseat the HDMI cables, then try again. Also you could try running the HDMI cable test on the apple tv. Perhaps one of the links isn't passing DV properly.

Did all that. Spent an hour wasting my time with this crap. Not doing it anymore. Guess it’s just HDR now.

So this probably won't have a positive effect, but it's worth trying. Documentation here:

https://www.onkyo.com/manual/sup/upd/hdmi_4k_onk.pdf

It's a feature on my TX-NR787 with one of the recent firmware upgrades; maybe it's on yours too. If it's on, turn it off. If it's off, turn it on. See what happens ...

If the link scares you due to its broken certificate, here's what it says:

While pressing BD/DVD (*1) on the main unit, press ON/STANDBY to display the current setting on the display.
While this is being displayed, hold down BD/DVD on the main unit and repeatedly press ON/STANDBY to switch the setting.

Always have to remember to turn that back on when I reset my TX-NR676.

It's the Onkyo receivers that cause a lot of problems. I have to keep resetting it to get CEC/ARC back. Initially I had to reset it a few times to get Dolby Vision working- it's very picky about the cable you use. I found the Monoprice premium cables (not that expensive) to work best for DV. They really need to update the firmware.

As far as the Vizio's firmware goes, I've pretty much given up hope.

Eh, they're Pioneer receivers now anyways. Never much liked Pioneers, and the new Onkyos have similar problems. I only bought one because it's cheap. Next time I'll buy a Yamaha or something.

Is it too much to expect Vizio to fix Clear Action? It hasn't worked since last Dec. Geez.

Is it too much to expect Vizio to fix Clear Action? It hasn't worked since last Dec. Geez.
Technically they're Denon now lol.

I've PM'd @VizioService about clear action so we don't sound like broken records in the forum.

Any with a P-50C1 notice the Film mode stays OFF and can't be toggled?

Also, streaming content with 25 VF still has motion issues.
