You have to remember when I purchased the TV over 2yrs ago Clear Action was an important feature and things have changed a lot since then. Clear Action was an advertised feature which Vizio broke over a year ago. I'd still be using it if it worked.

But of course if I was buying a TV partly with gaming in mind that wouldn't be my major concern. An OLED with HDMI 2.1 would be what I would looking for.

We'll see what happens in a little bit when I speak to Amex (I'm pretty sure they have the extended warranty). I'm not getting my hopes up for a refund but I bet Vizio will be forced to replace it with a newer model with working Clear Action (or whatever the newer equivalent is).

So my P55-E1 has 126 dimming zones. I'm concerned that if I tried a warranty thing and Vizio said they would replace it with a newer model, the P55-F1 has only 56 dimming zones (I assume that's what they would offer?). Is anyone able to chime in on if their dimming algorithm has improved THAT much between the E1 & F1, that it would warrant less than half of the zones in the same size?

If that wasn't their offer, the only other one I would imagine is the 2019 M Quantum. Not a chance I would take the 2019 M7 Quantum with it's 16 zone. Haha. Regardless, even the M Quantum has 90 zones compared to my current 126. Has their dimming algo improved THAT much? Or would I be experiencing a significant amount more blooming in that large of zone downgrades?

Warranty claims from the manufacturer are not the same as third party claims. By now the manufacturer warranty is well expired. Third party claims go by current value for replacement. This does not mean you will get a Vizio TV or even a comparable model. Extended warranties are great so customers don't get stuck with a giant paperweight, but don't assume you will get an equal replacement, because you likely won't.

Actually Amex/Costco concierge extended warranties are the exception to this rule. I find that Amex will usually go out of their way to get you at least a newer model (refurbed most likely) from the manufacturer. Plus I have in writing from the head of a dept at Vizio that the feature doesn’t work.

That said I’m working on walking right now. If it comes to it I’ll keep the TV, I’m still mostly satisfied with it. Although I definitely won’t be purchasing another Vizio product.

There's different types of warranty-reimbursement vs replacement. Obviously, you should always know before purchasing one which type it is.

That’s why the third party extended policies are (for the most part) a rip off. The only one I ever purchased was a Best Buy one on a floor model X900 I picked up. The Amex extended ones that come for free with your card are great (or anything Costco is great, which I believe is Visa now).

It's true. The display app does work at 2160p and Dolby vision. Still no Atmos though.
The mobile app has not been updated yet.

Yes going through the On Screen Menu, Disney+ is shown as an App. Through the OSD App you get Dolby Vision on The Mandalorian & appropriate movies but only 5.1 audio. I had to restart my previous test movies to get it out of 720p mode and into 4K. I'll try casting next. TV firmware hasn't been updated yet.

I don't know if you were expecting Atmos out off The Mandalarion, but it is only 5.1. There's a few instances in Disney+ where it cites a title as being Atmos, when there is no such Atmos feed for it.

chat with @vizio on Twitter and got this

"After looking into this I am showing that at this time casting will be at 720p till we push out the cast shell update. Thank you - Dennis"

"When you go into the smart-cast input and go to Extra's and versions you will see smart-cast version you will see that number update. Thank you - Dennis"

At least sounds like a change is coming to cast.

I'm aware of this and no Atmos was indicated on the Intro Splash screens where Disney shows them (sometimes incorrectly). I also tested Captain Marvel which is in Atmos on Disney+ but just DD+ 5.1 via Vizio Home screen. Hopefully the App will get updates.

I think only Apple TV is doing Atmos on Disney as far as I know.

Yes, I just checked and was going to post the same. FireTV4 and Roku Ultra only show DD+ 5.1 I'm spoiled with my AppleTV4K so don't use the others much except for test purposes.

remote P65- E1 2017

I have to replace the remote for the P65- E1 2017 - the one that has the"netflix- in red input button at the top.
Vizio website doesn't them but vizio's partner has them $30 +$5 shipping.
Any better place - and I thought vizio cam out with a new remote that was compatible w/ my series.
any thoughts?

The XRT140 remote listed at Vizio.com is the latest model, replacing the 4 arrows with a ring similar to FireTV remotes. Vizio has not yet released the remote w/voice control announced at CES in January.

@DAB In the interim you can use the Smartcast App from the Google store or iTunes if you have a smartphone. Good luck.

My tablet that came with my C1 all of a sudden won't turn On. I can't tell if the charger no longer works or if the tablet itself is dead. Anyone else have this problem and was able to find a solution?

You can:

1) plug a micro USB charger into the tablet to attempt to charge
2) plug it into a laptop and treat it like any android device and force a restart
3) google which combination of buttons to hold to try and get it to boot

Thanks, Vizio had me try the power button along with both the volume up and volume down buttons but it didn't work. I've connected it to another micro USB and it appears it is working but it's currently at 0% charge.

Welp, my p65 C1 has died. It won't turn on. Pretty sure one of the boards went out. Power light indicator won't light up. However, the USB port is getting power as is the ethernet port. The activity light is blinking. I think I'm done with Vizio. Not too happy with a 4 year life span.
