Don't be in a hurry. There is at least one outstanding calibrator that operates from the LA area. There are others that do regular tours in that area.

Use the information from post number one, and let the dust settle until the promised upgrades materialize.

At that time I would be happy to give you several names to look into if you still want a professional calibration.

And then the TV went through a few cycles of powering on/off, but I think it could have been input lag from me attempting to power it on via the tablet and toy remote. The Power button on the back of the TV didn't work either. I unplugged the power cord for a few seconds, plugged it back in, and the TV brought up the tablet pairing screen again. I touched the tablet to the corner and in a few seconds everything was back up running as normal.
Vizio support was unable to resolve. Service and factory resets did not solve the problems, so I exchanged the TV (again). Hoping 3rd times the charm. So far, so good.

Well looks like replacing my cables and getting a new switch help my resolution issues

Now I am seeing some serious stuff. I have a p65 connected to DTv and I am seeing some strange heavy pixelation around character outlines when moving modererstly fast. I was trying to watch a recorded blacklist episode and it was literally unwatchable. Any ideas ?? I have messed with motion and setting but nothing happens

I saw someone say changing stb to 720p helped, might try that. Also interested since Blacklist is one the shows I watch from Dish. Curious, if the p65 does all the upconverting, don't really need an upgraded Hopper3 (I assume) unless I want 4k.

How do I know that I am watching something in Dolby Vision HDR? I am watching Marco Polo on Netflix but it just shows 2160P Normal at the top?

Thanks Alexander,

It's the wife's deal, I had to accommodate her first before I got my toys, lol.

With all that ambient light- I'm running calibrated. I adjusted scoring to specs on calibrated thread but had to adjust a little more with motion and studder. Still working it out. I will say sharpness at 20 is really nice if you have a good signal coming through. Changes by the channel with Comcast though.

Star Wars via vudu looks solid even though it's not UHD. Going to try xmen- days of future past later.

In your Device, go to Settings, System, System Information, System 'Information, Scroll down and you should see HDR, it should be "YES"

I just got my 50" and can't get 4:4:4 to show under nvidia control panel. Is there something extra I have to due to allow that option?

I'm using HDMI 5. Tried 3840x2160, 4096x2160, 8bpc, 12bpc, 60hz.

Thanks rightintel,

It's my wife's design. I'm working with her to learn the tablet so I can get approval for one in the bedroom and downstairs eventually. I'll probably wait for a black friday deal on the other sets.

With the ceiling height issue, I don t run atmos but I'm a huge def-tech lover and with DD+, it reproduces a clean, accurate sound. Again, the wife gets mad but oh well, lol.

Watch TV Sequence:
Turn on Yamaha
Turn on DirecTV
Turn on Vizio

Everything turns on at first. The Vizio power light fades out, but nothing comes on screen. Then about 3 seconds later the power light flashes and the TV shuts off, and it shuts off the receiver.

Harmony doesn't allow a delay between the power cycles for whatever stupid reason or I would delay the TV on to see if it would fix it.

I can't use Help, because with the receiver off I can't just turn the TV on.

Im usually pretty tech savvy, but I have to say the setup of this TV is kicking my ass. Any suggestions? My first thought I'd to move the TV off the switched outlet but wanted to see of there are other options from y'all first.

Thanks.

The AC power to the Vizio should never be switched off and on by being plugged into a switched outlet, the TV does firmware updates while it is off. You need to turn it on and off by sending it commands directly to the TV through a remote.

Wow that's a big difference. Much nicer. I just got my replacement 55. After 12 days or so the first one developed intense flicker upon startup. Cross my fingers on this one. I have one very small blur in the center but it's not viewable If my face isn't pressed up against the screen. Haven't had time to watch any hockey or golf

Not really, the p55 was flawless. Just wanted a bigger picture now I have my second p65 coming, changed all my hdmi cables and upgraded to a new switch still not working as well as my Panasonic plasma. Never had an issue until I upgraded to a 2,000 dollar tv.

Blind spot is literally unwatchable because there is strange artifacting when the characters move , blacklist and actually all other shows.

Just frustrated and don't know what to do now. More cables? New switch? New tv return for different model what a night mare.

Is this issue normal or what can I do? Its seems like the screen is too slow to display the correct color/amount of light for the object displayed. You can see the object get darker when I move it and then get brighter/normal when the color catches up.

The video.
60hz
4:4:4
HDMI 1

It does not look like the P series supports that color space at that high of a resolution on HDMI 5. Only in 1080p. Why do you need a color space of 4:4:4 since nothing is made in that color space? Practically all video content is mastered using a color space of 4:2:0 at a resolution of 1080p24.

Well to make you feel better my previous Sony 930C was replaced 3 times till I give up, all had two vertical bands of light bleed on the left and right, the Samsung JS8500 was sent back do to light bleed on the 4 corners, it is a well know issue and you have to play the lottery with the JS8500.

65"JS9500 panel replaced by the technician 2 times do to defects and they inspect the tv to make sure that it was a defect so it qualified by the samsung technician as a defective display ,money was refunded.

Now tell me where is the perfect display and I will buy it right now ,also I don't buy when someone say my tv is free of issues ,maybe they are acceptable for him but not for others.

I think it will depend on how tolerable are the issues for the owner. So far my complain on the P series is the tablet, I hope that they add to the picture settings a - and + , the button slider is a pain. also other software bugs on the table that has been mentioned here. I mainly use my Iphone.

Just make sure that is not an issue that is visible during content.
