The HDMI specs of the P series has me rethinking my AVR integration. It appears ports 1-4 are very powerful so I'll probably switch my main line into the TV to HDMI1 so I can prepare for ARC audio w Atmos back to the Pioneer SC-95. HDMI 5 on the P75 syncs with the Samsung K8500 routed through the Pio at 4k/60 4:4:4 but HDMI 2 did not. I had to set the Pio to 4:2:0 to get it to work. When the P75 gets the HDR update, I'll see whether I need a discreet port with 4:4:4 at that time. I've got 2 HDMI lines in the wall.
Pretty awesome this will return Atmos via ARC.

There seems to be a lot of audiophile concern about fidelity and compression but I'll likely be just fine with it.

I'm interested in this also. The new D series did not get good reviews for upscaling on Rtings.

Can new users comment?

@Matt W ith Vizio, is the upscaling engine the same as the D series or does the P series use a different engine?

Thanks!

This is a very loaded question and one that is totally dependent on cable/source. You need to judge this for yourself in your setting and integration. Nobody is going to be able to tell you if you are happy with how upscaled cable looks. There are way to many variables. I'm watching xFinity right now and high quality sources look fantastic. Lower res sources with all kinds of compression artifacts and noise look like I'd expect them to look... not so great. It's becoming less of an issue as the cable and satellite companies upgrade their resolution and compression methods.

Well thats good to hear. I am really curious to hear your take on motion of the P. I have found that I am "motion sensitive" as they say. Currently at BB, the only LCD set I have not found motion to be distracting is the 940c.

One question before he answers that, is what is the reason for needing to know what the SoC is inside the P series displays?

Curious why this is so important to you. You ask this same question over and over in multiple threads. You know you cant install any apps on this tv, right? Its a cast receiver only.

I was ok with how the M75 performed. But I also sit 15.5 feet from my TV so maybe I would notice it less because of that.

I don't think that's correct, the Snapdragon 615 actually does have 8 cores, 4 of which are clocked lower for better power consumption, and the other 4 clocked higher for better performance.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/7784/s...ex-a53-designs

Refreshed CPU-Z and the CPU 3 is active again, I guess it was off for power savings?

Correct. The processor in the table is 8 CPU cores in an architecture call BIG/little where there are 4 high performance cores and 4 energy efficient cores and the tablet can move between the cores depending on needs of apps and battery.

The processor in the TV is 8 cores but architected as 4 CPU cores and 4 GPU cores.

There's no realistic 75"+ OLED and the only other option for me seems to be the 940(c)(d). But the Sony lacks Dolby Vision. I had almost popped for a heavily discounted 940c when this thread dropped. Now I really, really want to see one in person. So far, from everything I have read, the P series looks like a winner.

@Ninhalem , it is very important for me to know what powers this display and how fast the response is. I have a vizio costar(preordered back then)it takes for ever to respond when I click on any app.

Yea and this TV doesnt have any apps on it. All the "apps" reside on the tablet/your personal device.

I am looking more in the 65" range myself but MIGHT be able to shoe horn a 75 in. The 940c looks tempting because of how well it handles motion and the recent price drop but your're right, no DV. 940d will be to expensive to not support DV. I dont know if I can wait for the LG B6 and even then the price will be over twice the P65. I guess Im really hoping the motion on the P65 is good enough I can live without OLED and save $3k. Decisions, decision.

Take the P65 and install it in your home. BestBuy has a good return/exchange policy. You'll know soon enough if it works for you. I doubt you'll demo it sufficiently somewhere.

Not really, you should keep both. SmartCast is essintially a Vizio badged version of Google Cast and specific to Vizio TV's and audio devices. Google Cast will work across all brands.
