Why won't the 1080 work but the 1070 will?
I have an Alienware Area 51. I'm pretty sure either card will work but since I don't PCIe 3.0 I'm going to wait a few months and build a new box for the 1080.

Went out onto the main floor and OMGosh...SAMSUNG SAMSUNG RAH RAH RAH! Samsung panels everywhere of every size and model. Not a single Vizio in sight.

I wandered the whole store for 20 minutes or so, and not a single blue shirt said hi or asked if I needed help. That's good, as I wasn't annoyed by sales pitches. That's bad because crappy customer service.

I walked out and went next door to PetSmart. No, they had no Vizios either, but 3 different employees asked if they could help me as I wandered.

Anyway, come on Costco, get the new stock in. I dislike the partnership with BB and won't give them my money. As someone else stated, they List the prices for $100 over Vizio and then mark them down $100. WHAT A DEAL!

That's the end of my little story.
You're right. BB currently says the P75 is on sale for $3,799 from an original price of $3,999 when Vizio shows the original retail price as $3,799.

Yes, it was registered and Vizio knew of the dimming issue I was having at the time before knowledge of the update even came out. There is no way to force it if Vizio hasn't selected yours to get it, but there is a way to check if your serial has been selected if your tv hasn't done it's automatic check for the day. This is the only reason some of you got it doing the service check because your serial was among the selected ones, but just hadn't pinged the update servers for the day.

Subsequent updates came after that unexpectedly on it's own later when I quit following the thread there, so you'll get it eventually when it's your turn.
Well I ran service check right before I turned the tv off and I would not recieve the update. Then I went to setup new device and bam update was found and installed

I'm planning on purchasing either the 75" or 65". Would I be better off purchasing directly from Vizio or from Best Buy? I can get the 5% coupon and no taxes purchasing direct through Vizio. My local Best Buy has the 65" ins stock and can deliver. Best Buy does not have the 75" in stock and will not allow me to place an order for it. So, I was thinking about ordering from Vizio. My 3 concerns from ordering from Vizio is 1) How long will it take compared to Best Buy? 2) How difficult will it be to exchange a defective unit if I purchase from Vizio? I'm sure the shipping and handling on a 75" is ridiculous. My concern is it seems like people on the forum has went through multiple sets to get one that is performing at or near ideal. 3) Is Best Buy just out of the 75"? Should I wait until they get it back in stock for delivery?

Lastly, would Best Buy honor the price on the monitor in store? They are suppose to price match guarantee. Thanks for any help or insight. This will be my first set purchase since my Kuro in 2007.

Do you have the X51 or the Area 51? Different animal. I have the compact version that maxes out at about a 150/160 TDP for the GPU. Also, the GTX 1080 is a 10.5" card and I am hoping that EVGA will make a 9.5" GTX 1070 like they did for the 970. If all else fails, I'll have to do a new build.

I tried it several times and it did not work with my P75. Rebooting the remote didn't work either. I have also tried the Software Check link as well. Nothing has caused it to update yet. I never call Vizio support though.

I have the Area 51 so either card would fit size wise but it's a 6 year old bus bar.

Yes,but I forgotten dv has it own. That's Marco polo....brain fart. I can't hurt anything. If it looks bad I'll put everything back to 0...skin tone looks pretty good I think.

Firmware update information

Apologize for being offline... been very busy here launching the rest of our CAST products. Wanted to get you more information on the firmware update being rolled out to P Series customers.

Version 1.1.14.4 has the following updates (high level descriptions):

- Local dimming algorithm improvements (better contrast and black levels)
- Stuttering and frame drops fixed
- Volume control improved over CEC/ARC
- Discreet IR codes fixed
- Calibration at 30% Blue fixed
- Spotify audio output to soundbars improved
- Cast more reliably supports 24fps content
- Bluetooth pairing improved
- Significant improvements for ATMOS over ARC
- Cleaned up some streaming issues with Vudu, Vadio, Netflix
- Youtube queue issue fixed
- Game mode improved (backlight timing)
- Numerous other small fixes and improvements

The update is rolling out slowly this week and will accelerate as time goes on. Looking forward to comments on the update and further suggestions for improvements.

I will attempt to answer questions as schedule permits but will be able to spend more time with you next week.

That's weird. I have never contacted Vizio either, just registered it on the tablet. So far on the update I have only noticed panning shots have no judder. Other then that same great picture

Anyone know when Amazon might start selling the P 2016 series? I really want a 65" but BB has none and really not sure I want to deal with the hassle of exchanging through Vizio. Not sure how that works. Anyone done it and can elaborate? Do they send out a new one then you send your old one back?

Thanks for jumping in and posting this Matt!

My only question is "Why Don't I have the updated firmware yet???"
(Oh, and echoing Shoman's question about the screen-tearing)...

We are working diligently on testing the HDR10 builds now. And we are looking at splitting it into 2 releases - the first that would support HDR10 on HDMI for those that want to use Bluray... then the fully planned release which includes streaming support.

Will keep the group up to date.

I was able to fix the issue.

I tried with my own phone and was successful at pairing and connecting to the tv's wifi. Once this happened the TV was able to download the latest updates via wifi. After that the tablet could now cast to the TV as well. It's clear that Vizio does have a few kinks to work out with this process but overall I've had worse experiences with software not working as intended.

While it was a bit of a headache I'm glad everything is working properly and most importantly the TV looks great. Watched some 4k content on netflix including Marco Polo in DV and was very pleased with the performance so far.

I work professionally as a cinematographer so picture quality and accuracy is very important to me. In the next month or so I'll be calibrating to really hone the set in. I do have to say that the calibrated dark setting looked very good to my eye.
I apologize for the issues... for all those that had a similar issue: we had a batch of P Series displays that "escaped" the factory/hub with old firmware that was not meant for field release and was unable to register and update over the Internet. So the fix is to get the TV to the proper base firmware manually and then it will take updates after that.

Anyone else experiencing this issue... please follow the procedure but feel free to call support and we will help you get over this hurdle.

Thanks for your patience.

Matt

This is the exact issue I just posted about. Some units escaped with firmware not meant for field use and it requires to be manually updated to proper firmware before casting and further updates can happen. USB update will fix this but we are also happy to swap your display so you don't have to deal with the issue.
Thanks for the patience and we will get you a proper display ASAP.

Matt
Would you please let us know if the screen tearing issue is resolved? I've had it for a couple months now and am (patiently) waiting for a fix.

Have any info about the yellow band or the screen tearing problems some of us are having? Thanks a lot for your time and attention to this thread.

Also, have anyone successfully used 4k Netflix with less than 25gb download speed? My best speed through my provider is 19gb.

Thanks again.

Yes. Please everyone with ARC issues... try a high quality cable. We have included a high quality cable but we are seeing very mixed results with lesser cable or very long cables. The new firmware is a big improvement but we can't fix cable issues through software :-)
