Sounders are shipping now... can take from 2-4 weeks for channel to show inventory.

SDR is mastered within the REC.709 triangle/gamut. So you are not limiting anything... all colors provided in the content can be displayed. When the display switched to HDR mode (upon detecting HDR content) then it will support wider color gamut and the higher dynamic range capabilities of HDR (and the HDR content contains color information outside of the REC.709 triangle/gamut).

Remember, you calibrate REC.709 for SDR content. And Calibrate HDR for HDR content. Calibrating the REC.709 settings does not affect HDR or limit the color spectrum for content that has information beyond REC.709

Basically it organizes and plays your media. You have what is called "Plex server" installed on a computer or NAS. Then you have the player app that is available on a number of devices. In my case I have it installed on my iPhone and cast directly to the TV.

A very cool thing about it is you can access you media outside your network. It creates a VPN like connection and if you have a decent upload speed at your house and a good download speed where ever you are at in the world you can watch your movies or TV shows.

Thanks... A few of us have tried to explain this but some are stubborn. I'm glad it has now come from the horses mouth.
Now I know you guys calibrate SDR with FALD off but what about HDR?

Plex is fantastic and i've been using it for several years now on my XB1 with Kinect voice control.

I'd never used Plex either until getting the P75. Basically, installed the server on my desktop PC, pointed it to the video files on my PC, then let it do it's thing while I added the app to my tablet. Fromm there, just use the app to pick the video you want to watch and cast away.
It was very easy.

Would any current owner mind posting a picture of the intro from the martian? In Particular this scene? I'm curious to see how well the TV performs with this. I'm caught between this TV, the samsung ks9800, Sony X940D, or just biting the bullet and going OLED.

I filled a previous request but the guy wanted the blacklight maxed out to 100.

The Vizio is much better in every way except overall brightness and some would say motion processing.

Quick question- will it play iso files this way from a NAS?

Thank you, this helps a lot. Can you tell me if it looks the same with a backlight not cranked to max? I just want to make sure it doesn't have the black spotches the panasonic has. I'd take some slight blooming as opposed to the way it looked on the panny.

I just recieved firmware update too. I have denon 2112 and casting gives me the chirps too except for pcm on both ends. Tried 4 different cables( cablemart rated 26gps) including vizio one with no luck. On a positive note, ran the ufo motion test for 4k 60 fps and 1080p 120 fps with and without clear action on input 2 and 5 and I see no doubling or blur at the end of character anymore. Yes !!! Thanks Matt...

For some reason Plex doesn't support the playback of .ISO's. You would have to convert them to .mkv's or another container.

It looks better when the blacklight is properly set but I wouldn't say it's an night and day difference.

Matt,
Thanks for being here with us on the forum - extremely helpful!

Any way those of us still waiting for the 1.1.14.4 firmware could download it and install it via USB?

I have been checking every day and am still on 1.1.6.12

P65 owner - purchase date 3/22/16

Thank you!

Dude, enough already! I'm sorry you got a bad set, but Matt already addressed this issue this a few days ago and told us some bad ones slipped through the crack. As someone who still hasn't made a final decision you are really taking the piss out of the experience constantly beating a dead horse hoping for a different response. Let it go and good luck with your replacement.

I feel your pain. I'm between these and the Sony 850D. Although I'm also reconsidering my original plan of picking up the 2015 M70. Yes, it won't have all the bells and whistles, but I don't really need all that yet. So for the moment I'm just hoping the prices drop once they hit more stores or I'm going to end up waiting too long to get something on my wall.

Decided to take a short break and play a little DOOM this afternoon. Turned everything on and lo and behold "An update 1.1.14.4 has been applied to your display".
Now I'm gonna' check out some of that Flash finale to see if the screen tearing has improved!

Hello Matt. What you're stating here is correct, but it would have been nice to be able to switch to the widest gamut the display is capable of even with non-HDR content. This would be highly beneficial for any type of auto-calibration (3D LUTs). The R-series has this ability, so why not the P?

OK thanks for the replies and I took another look confirming what Hz the content is on the Smartcast App.
My cables are new 6ft and 3ft Amazon HDMI I don't think they are an issue.
On the Denon X2200 I have video processing off, auto lipsynch on, 0ms audio delay.

From Sony BDPS3700 player through the AVR, I have no issues with 24Hz content, DVD, Bluray, Netflix or Amazon streaming sources...

From the new Tivo Roamio player through the AVR, I have no issues with 60Hz content from Netflix or Amazon app sources, but the lip synch is way off for 24Hz content. It can be fixed with upping the audio delay but that is a global setting and I'm not dialing it in and out every time I switch content.

As per other responses, the issue could be at several points in the P65 - Denon - Tivo chain, but I don't have a different display to swap with to validate the P65 is contributing, vs. it being only on Tivo / Tivo apps issue.

But thanks for the workaround on Tivo to set the video out to only 1080/60, then I don't have the lip synch issues from streamed content so I'll probably leave it there.

Casting and ARC work best, for Netflix, but the gap is no casting Amazon prime because of Google/Amazon relationship. I'll probably stream Amazon content from the BDP player for now as the Tivo apps also seem slower to start up and slower to move from SD to HD resolution than the Sony...

If Matt is still checking out the thread, I would like know if the grayscale and gamma of Dolby Vision Color Tuner, could be more accurate. The grayscale/gamma is to dark and hides detail. I don't expect it to be exact, but it would go along way towards selling people on the display and Dolby Vision.

That might depend on who "everyone" happens to be. You've posted your settings and indicated why you like them. Why not discuss other related issues in the calibration thread for these sets?

There is no need to tell my why I'm wrong. I have a full time persons who handles that for me.
