Are the network controllers on the P series shoddy? That's a pretty pathetic connection speed. I'd like some input from others. You can test under Network settings.
Just going to throw this out there, but is it possible that your speedtest is rated in megabytes instead of megabits? 18.9 MB/s is equivalent to roughly 152 mbps, which isn't quite as fast as your rated connection, but could be explained by network latency outside of your house or the television speedtest using servers that are not optimized by location (speedtest.org is really good about sending you to the closest possible test location). I mean, if you can actually stream pretty much anything in 4k, you can rest assured that you're pulling more than 19 mbps, which is broadband speed circa 1998.

No one had a problem streaming anything. Was reported in that forum to and was blown out of proportion. Before that happens here...

The reason I ask is I've never had BB deliver anything and the last display I had delivered was a replacement from Samsung and I almost had a heart attack watching the delivery guys unbox and set it up. So much so I had to jump in and take over while they watched. Any feedback on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!
I just had them open the box to inspect for any physical damage. These delivery guys are refrigerator and washing machine installers. I had no confidence in them to assemble my TV let alone hook it up.

The speed tests on the Vizio aren't accurate. I'm fairly sure the TV can pull whatever is required through it's ethernet or WiFi. I have noticed weird connection issues with the tablet which is weird since I have an Airport Extreme with 150/150 FiOS about 10 feet away. I ended up having to put the tablet in 2.4 GHZ mode to get any sort of consistent connection. Even so, there are daily occurrences of the tablet losing connection with the TV which is hard wired.

Are you saying you are actually having problems with streaming? Or is this a comment about the speed test you have done and therefore conclude that you will not be able to stream reliably? As others have mentioned, the speed test is not reliable.

Anyone know of any screen protectors for the remote? Does it come with one? I don't really enjoy using tablets without a screen protector and case so I think not having either is going to drive me a bit nuts.

If you have a router with custom firmware you should be able to monitor the download speed of the TV in real time while streaming 4k DV content. I did so and it oscillated quite a bit but peaked around 25 Mbps even though the built-in speed test said 19 Mbps.

In short, verify it independently, can't trust the app.

So do you guys ever use any of the extra processing features for when watching cable content? Whether it be News or your wife is watching the Bachelor and you just want to have eyes on your new beautiful panel so you deal with it.

I was always told to keep off all of these extra processing features, assuming that suggestion is for film signals, but in this day do any actually improve the quality of cable content?

In light of this does it make more sense to run HTPC at 1080p/120Hz? Would hate to lose 4k but I'm limited to 30Hz anyway because I have an old Radeon 7770 that doesn't support HDMI 2.0, and needless to say, 30 Hz is...not ideal. But from what I gather it's not so great at 60Hz either?

This would greatly interest me as well. However I have a GTX970 which should be capable enough. I plan on using 2 HDMI outputs from my receiver. One to HDMI 1 for media consumption and HDMI 5 for gaming. Thank you for asking the question.

I personally like the ability to adjust the picture to my liking. Things like reduce judder can add more depth to the picture without making to soap opera like. Clear action and reduce judder almost make the image pop off the screen.

I also am shocked DV is so heavily embraced in the enthusiast world. It creates an almost unrealistic picture (I love it). For the longest time I had a darbee (not embraced by enthusiast) and it was also amazing.

Well, if you feel your masking skills are a little shaky or don't feel comfortable with a spray can around your set, then try 3-M Matte black vinyl car wrap.

My set will be here tomorrow, so I'll have to play with those two. All of my previous sets added that soap opera crap with any playing of the motion related settings. What about noise reduction and settings like that?

Do you use the Clear Action & Reduce Judder on film content too?

I'll have to double check if there is a noise reduction settings. I leave reduce judder and reduce motion blur at 1 and clear action on. It really does make the image pop off the screen but without the soap opera feeling. If you could stomach "2" it looks really good, but a little soap opera to me.

My biggest concerns so far are:
- How the P series looks with 1080p content compared to Sony/Samsung/LG sets that cost more
- How the P series looks with fast moving sports. I know a few people chimed in and said hockey looked good, but I watch a lot of sports and coming from a 3 chip DLP projector am a little spoiled.

Lack of 3D support is kinda a downer but I get it. For home video it is a walking dead format at this point. Just sucks that I still have about $600+ of 3D Blu-Ray movies that can no longer be watched in 3D...

It does reduce the brightness, but I use the "calibrated setting" and put the backlight up to 80

Are these settings used with both cable content and film content?

Kind of bummed the guy below seems to like how other sets handle 1080p content better, as that's my primarily watched content at the moment.

re: local dimming lagging behind and causing fade in\fade out:

I was watching The Walking Dead last night and during the credits, every time someone's name (in white) in the credits came up, the rest of the picture dimmed. What would cause that? So far, that's been the most distracted I've been while watching.
