I remember when I had my last warranty return 1.5 years ago. I brought a Sony home that was rated very well for black levels but like you said with matte screens, the image was great and solid but the colors just didn't pop. I found out then that I am just a fan of glossy screens. They seem to make a difference in my experience.

That is just the nature of LEDs. If you want better viewing angles you are really going to have to look at OLED. I also think that will give you the pop you are looking for. It is just so expensive to get the OLED equivalent of this set (4K HDR). You are looking at over $5k for a 65" with those specs. If they were priced the same i'm sure 9 out of 10 would take the OLED, they are great....just not 2X price great and they have their own uniformity issues.

I got the 65" EF9500 for $3200. You are talking about the newest version. I would also suggest if you want that pop to shop around for the 65EF9500 as an alternative to this set. This set made my final 2 but I ultimately decided on the OLED.

Look in the calibration thread and see if that helps you. You could also buy a a darbee dvp5000s to help with the picture and that will still save you money compared to buying another major brand

Turned it back on, and it worked. The only annoyance is with control mode on, I have a volume indicator from the Vizio show up on the lower part of the screen. Kind of distracting but I guess it's a trade off to get DD+ working. I am anxious to get into my new house and test ATMOS. I also have ARC ONLY set on the Vizio.

Haven't some owners gotten rid ot the Vizio volume control by turning off the internal speakers and selecting external audio?

I like what the latest firmware did for the local dimming - I am still having 5.1 issues through the SHIELD Android TV, but not through casting. I am using ARC for both since my AVR does not support 4k. For what it's worth the 5.1 issue does partially appear to be an issue from Vizio and partially Nvidia/Android TV Platform.

Which is a great set, but I think it is lacking DV. I meant the new OLEDs b.c that would be the OLED equivalent from a feature standpoint. Even without DV, you got an amazing price and I would have done that as well. That is the price the 55" goes for.

Returned my P65

I purchased a P65 from BB a couple weeks back, and just returned it yesterday. I lost sync between the TV and the tablet a few times and it took a different procedure every time to get it back, each time taking at least an hour of rebooting, resetting, reinstalling, etc. This was running the latest firmware and all updates to the tablet that install when you 1st bring it up. Also, this TV had some weird issues with judder as well. I would randomly experience motion issues that would sort of come and go despite whatever settings I tried. When it was having these judder issues, I could consistently reproduce them using DVRed content, when they would fix themselves, watching the same DVRed content would have no issues at all.

I am sorry that I had to do this. When everything worked, the picture quality was really nice, and I really do believe that casting and Dolby Vision are what will be standard for all TVs in the next few years. My brief experience with this TV resulted in just too many issues to justify such a large purchase and a sort of gamble that I would be able to work with Vizio support to get it working correctly was too much for me to take on.

Best of luck to those that are still experiencing issues, and I hope you all get your HDR10 update soon!

UHD discs are graded to be very dark. This does not change when your tv doesn't have HDR. Which means some scenes will be too dark unless you calibrate the picture to be brighter. Normally the HDR metadata would change this but without the metadata the picture will be dark.
You will not likely notice in brightly lit scenes. But scenes that are suppose to be very dark, get so dark you can't even see what is happening.
probably why that scene in the revenant is very dark

Idk I grabbed a 2016 55" (so I could fit it in the back of an Uber) oled. The picture looked so grainy to me, I played around with the settings a ton. The blacks were great, but also had a lot of gradient.

The OLED popped more, had better viewing angles, and doesn't have the judder problem that my P has, but I found myself preferring my p65.

I've still got the OLED, if you guys want any comparisons/tests

I'm struggling between the P55 and P75 vs LG 55EF9500 and the LG 65 EF. I would go OLED except 1.) going to 75 inches from 70 is easier then 70 to 65, and 2.) the P55 has wow'd me and I am coming from a Pio Kuro 50 inch. Any recommendations your having owned both is appreciated. Thanks.

So I went to BB in Augusta, GA. They didn't have any in stock. However, they found one in stock in Columbia, SC. So, I was ordering it in Augusta, and would drive to Cola to pick it up. During the process, it showed SOLD. Ugh. So, I went ahead and ordered for deliver to BB in Augusta, and I'll pick it up Sunday coming. Now...

I'm looking for a stand to mount this to, and will sit on top of a dresser (that doesn't fit the stand width dimensions). Any suggestions?

I was looking at this: but it says only up to 60". Any suggestions would be helpful.

I was on the same thought line as you, tracking prices on the ef9500s. Rule the ef9500 straight out - there are uniformity issues and it doesn't have dolby vision, so it's outdated out-of-the-box. I'm considering HDR a must for my tv's.

I grabbed the 55E6 and wasn't $4k impressed

Just thought I would share some information about my week long battle trying to get 1080P/120 and 5.1 PCM in my setup without an HDMI 2.0 receiver (Pioneer SC-77). I started off with a Creative sound card that did Dolby Digital Live over optical but it would randomly reset and was not reliable. After returning this I began just using the on board optical and settling for 2.0 PCM. Upon a suggestion from another member, I bought a DP 1.2 to HDMI adapter and ran video through that and audio straight to my receiver. The problem with this setup is that the GPU will see the receiver as its' own display with its' own resolution. I ran into major problems when I would switch inputs because the computer would get confused as to which "display" was primary. There is no way to set the HDMI output as audio only as this would solve all the problems. I ended up going back into the BiOS and enabling the onboard Intel HDMI output and am now using that as the second display so I can pull the PCM directly from the motherboard. This seems to be much more stable. I will report back if anything changes.

Sorry.. the 65". Dresser height isn't a concern. No on the wall mount. I know it was mentioned somewhere in this thread or the brand thread that a stand was bought and it said up to 60", but the 65" fit just fine. I can't find that post, so I figured I'd ask.

For me and another user yes. More blooming, edge bleed to the black bars and glowing corners. For me it's only noticeable on complete dark room.

This is encouraging because I was underwhelmed with the 55EF9500 I got last year and eventually returned it. I like the P65 and will pick it up once it becomes available. I'm hoping it handles satellite feeds well, which some mentioned it does.

Maybe I haven't tried watching in a dark enough room. I can't say I've noticed those issues. Against my better judgement, I'll try in the next couple of days and report back.

On amd card displayport is always seen as display #1. Once in awhile my setup also flakes out and I just unplug displayport and replug in. I always power cycle before changing input to 5 with pc because of similar issues in the past.

Simple question. I didn't see the answer on the first post or in the User manual that I downloaded and read. How do you do a true reboot and clear the internal cache? I'm not talking about a factory reset (the nuclear option). I haven't needed it yet, but...

Oh as an aside I turned off Vizio's spyware "feature". http://www.cnet.com/how-to/disable-v...art-tv-spying/
