My set is on calibrated dark which would be more muted than standard. If you want to play the Dynamic I can switch to Vivid mode to combat that.
Here is a few more pics for you. All on calibrated dark. Not Standard or Vivid. This is the setting that is the most "muted" color wise on the set.

Seriously tho, FALD isnt even close to being mature enough for mass market. I understand manufactures are still going to make them and people are still going to buy them, but some kind of organic diode is truly the future. I debated exchanging my P55 cause netflix did look pretty good, but i knew i could get nearly as good a picture for hundreds less..and i was correct. No one needs to spend more than 700 bucks on a 5" tv, the samsung 55" KU6290 is proof of that. I actually wish i kept the P55 a few more days just to play the OLED fantasy demo on youtube side to side, if you can see a 500 dollar difference props to you.

Ill be keeping my eye on vizio but my intuition proved correct, you dont need local dimming in 2016, and who knows if it will ever prove to be truly useful.

I'm really glad you love your tv. I wish I could settle for no WCG for hundreds less than I paid. Those colors btw are terrible compared to Shorty's as evidenced by rtings on a model above yours.
You don't need to convince me to stick with the P series, those lack of features and bad specs will do it enough.

Attached are side-by-side from left to right comparing the KU6300, P, KS9000, JS9000.

I'll also wager the center line will be in the position of the line you're talking about ...

I'll also "double-up" that wager that the same amount of zones in a screen 1/4 of the size won't be visible to the human eye

I got an led maglight for Christmas so have no real need to light the house with a 65" flashlight

Don't take my wagers as "a challenge" , I'm not here for an arguement ...

I'm hoping to get mine on a wall mount this weekend .
It's a solid metal slimline mount that without shims will simply follow any curve in the drywall and due to minimal play with force stresses on the chassis of the TV , which is obviously wider than it is tall . And which is also the plane that will cause Most stress on the TV due to my simple "French cleat" type wall-mount .
Without borrowing a laser from work I don't know how "true" my wall is ....
Who wants to wager I see something different once it's hanging ???

EDIT :
I don't think the wall is that bad , but I might be the the first to own a curved screen p-series !!!
Its a bit different than what you're thinking...

I get what you're trying to get across, but it isn't working because FALD does work. I have excellent dimming on both my P50 and P65 with better judder, wcg, and soon both hdr10 and dv support. Those alone are worth $500 to me. Every tv has negatives, you just need to find what you're willing to compromise and live with.

I'm guessing that is why the scenes do not look as good when in Calibrated Dark as Mustang66 mentioned. That made me think your onto something. Maybe there is a specific file extension needed to enable HDR. The easiest way to find out would be to investigate the demo file at a local bestbuy since that video specifically calls out the TV's capability for HDR.

So I dropped into BB to check the extension of the demo file on the P75-C1 in magnolia center. The files were all mp4. So a bust. But that made me wonder if the demo is actually displaying HDR. I assumed it was up until this point, but the screen was so much brighter than the Sony right next to it..... Unfortunately the remote was locked into a glass display case so i couldn't confirm the TV's display setting. I tried to pair my phone with the TV, but i'm guessing I needed WIFI as it didn't work and after a couple of min I could tell the bestbuy rep seemed uncomfortable as he didn't fully understand what I was doing (even after explaining).

So at that point I just asked if I could make a copy of the demo on my own usb, and he said no. I'll be in town later today and may try to grab a demo from a different store just to confirm whether or not the Vizio demo is actually running in HDR. It makes sense that it would be, I can't fathom why it wouldn't. But that screen was so bright..... Maybe it wasnt??? Maybe the TV isn't setup to play HDR over USB? But that doesn't make sense.....
Nice detective work! ☺ That's an interesting idea, checking against the store model demo. I agree, you would think that hdr could play over USB, at least for the purpose of demoing. But I guess it's also possible it doesn't, as the USB implementation is pretty barebones, and seems geared more towards updates that playback. I wonder if dv would engage if they were casted over plex? It's not really a big deal, I guess I'm just eager to see some more dv content (beyond Marco Polo and the expensive Vudu offerings... ) ☺

So no HDR10 until possibly August? I'm glad I got another TV that already is already capable with the Samsung IHD Bluray player.

Full release, meaning physical and streaming. I would think the HDMI release will hit well before that.

If you want HDR10 and Dolby Vision along with Wide Color Gamut, then there is a possibility for the panel lottery like any other high end TV. All you see on here are mostly the people that have problems other than the normal everyday user. Also if you like technology and the idea of using a tablet for your watching pleasure, you'll be good. There are some legitimate problems with pairing the tablet but IMO most are user error. 😉

The HDMI support for external players will be first..... within the 90-120 days from release date.

Ok so my P65 has done this three times now and it's worrying me. The screen will go black for a few seconds and then come back on with the source displayed at the top. It's like unplugged the HDMI and then plugged it back in.

It did this twice on HDMI 2 and I thought it could be cable is device but this morning it did the same thing on HDMI 1.

I need to know if I should return this set soon as I only have 15 days with BBY.

That sounds like HDMI handshake and could be anything from cables to sources to the TV.

I'm sure there are vertical lines in there that can be seen with a Macro lens or a magnifying glass. What I have is something I can see from feet away depending on the color and it also is exactly where the screen tearing happens. It also is a 4-500 Kelvin difference from one side to the other of the line. It is also the ONLY line I have on the complete 75" screen. You can see it in the photos where I identified it.

Just because it's not on yours does not mean it isn't there. Just like @thomasfxlt doesn't have the screen tearing when playing that strobing video on YouTube. He's tried it multiple times but still hasn't seen it. He also has looked for the line on his screen and doesn't see it, but he did see it on my photos. So maybe its a hardware issue and not a software issue.

I just added pics of my screen to the post you quoted .

I'm going to take some temp readings of the screen today .

I'll take more pictures today before and after it goes on the wall , and hopefully I can get a couple of good snaps of it .
It's pretty hard with an iPad camera though .

DisplayCalNoob mentioned that he thinks Dolby Vision can only be cast at this point, which makes sense now that I think about it (except for the store demo part). I was really excited about seeing the Dolby Vision trailer in HDR, but I'll get over it. Especially since this TV rocks at everything else. As time progresses we'll have more HDR options available. Still - stinks that the store demo wouldn't show the TV's full capability as you have stated above.

Anyway - I tried the plex option. Unfortunately I couldn't cast higher than 1080p. I started troubleshooting when I realized that, once down that rabbit hole i'd likely not see the light of day until resolved. So I decided to hold off until now. If I find out more i'll let you know. Please do the same if you are able to get Plex to stream 4k.

On a side note - thanks to everyone on this forum for such helpful information!

I'm going to take some temp readings of the screen today .

I'll take more pictures today before and after it goes on the wall , and hopefully I can get a couple of good snaps of it .
It's pretty hard with an iPad camera though .
Did you look at the photos I linked you to?

7eah but I had a "fat finger" moment and closed the tab

I'll go take another look now .

Edit :
Talking of fat fingers , I was changing around your settings in my set last night , and had screen mirroring on as its easier for me to see the sliders on a 65" screen .
I noticed I could pull my finger down from the slider slightly and see the movement .
I then tried "finger stabbing" instead of "sliding" and had about a 50% success rate with hitting the figure I wanted first time .
It was a pretty good fun game !!

I hope they have an Nvidia Shield with the beta 3.2 firmware. This new firmware is expected by the end of the month and will add HDR.

This is same source and it's not changing resolutions. Two different types of cables to sources same issue. I'm going to box up display and EXCHANGE tomorrow. I love this set but don't want a lemon.

What do you have plugged into it ?

It won't take much to work it out .
I doubt the set is to blame as such .....
