Does anyone have any information on whether we will be able to cast Amazon video at any time, or, is it a dead issue? I seem to recall reading that Amazon does not like casting.

Amazon doesn't like Google .

You can watch Amazon on this set right now if you have the right equipment , you just can't cast with what you have out of the box .

On a desktop you can cast it with the extension. I doubt it'll give 4k or hdr, but if you're just after the original content it works and looks great.

By "streaming," I wonder if they mean "casting" from the tablet. Presumably, we should be able to stream HDR10 material from the Samsung player via HDMI after the first update...

And it is the Amazon UHD movies that I am most interested in at the moment. I'll keep checking on it...hopefully they add support at some point.

The thinking is that the Samsung UHD player would be the workaround for getting Amazon HDR to play on the Vizio...

Check for a sharp bend in your HDMI cable.

Thought I would share some insight into this. I have a run of the mill, cheap - LG 47" connected to my Apple TV 4 by way of a cheap HDMI cable that I think came from Verizon. Every so often, the screen gets grainy and I can see "flickers" of white grain as if there is a bad connection. Then sometimes, the picture will drop out. The screen will go black but audio still comes in. Sometimes it's every 5 minutes, sometimes it goes every 30 seconds. Unplugging the ATV 4 from power and back in resolves this issue. I don't know if it's the cable or what but it's clearly a handshake issue. It gets out of sync. My cable box also does this, same cable type. Odds of it being both devices? Slim to none. Odds of it being the cable? High. Odds of it being the TV? Perhaps. I would start with a device unplug (your boxes) and go from there. Try better, non generic cables. I use blue rigger from Amazon on my HT system (when I have it setup). Don't toss out the TV just yet.

Seems like this is the only option now, but hopefully a cheaper alternative will come along - ideally casting support. I don't want to spend $400 to get content I'm already paying for.

See guys, this is why I love this forum. I had no idea the Samsung UHD player had Amazon support. And frankly, I had not considered the Fire TV until now. Thank you!

The Amazon Fire TV does 4K and HDR, though I don't believe it supports Dolbyvision yet. Amazon has them $15 off this week.

I was told the Fire TV didn't do HDR because it didn't have the right hardware?

The HDMI support for external players will be first..... within the 90-120 days from release date.

I had Netflix freeze last night watching a movie on my P65. Tried to restart the movie a few times by re-selecting it and it would buffer to 99% and stop. I rebooted the tablet and shut down the TV. Then I couldn't get the TV to turn on (via the tablet) after several attempts. When I tried the basic clicker remote it still wouldn't turn on. I had to resort to the hard power button on the back of the TV and hold it for a few moments to get it to turn on, which finally worked.

It was a little worrisome as I haven't experienced that before. Anyone else have this issue?

TV seems to be ok now.

I like Ice Cream!

So, if I have the uhd player and the tv gets the hdr update via firmware, am I able to watch netflix and amazon with vision and hdr support from the uhd players built in apps?

Interesting, I did not know it supported 4k and HDR. BB has them for $84 now too, I might grab one. I'm just not quite sold on the casting ability of this TV, and I'd get Amazon to boot.

Yeah but isn't that 1.4 spec? As far as I know this is the model we are discussing:
