This situation is similar to the Blu-ray digital copies at launch. They were all 480p at first then transitioned to 1080p. Now we get 1080p with some UHD with UHD BD. We will need to wait and see if UHD support will improve for digital copies.

Nice find on searching Netflix on "HDR". That brings up the list of current offerings.

But VUDU doesn't have the Revenant in 4k.

So when I search HDR on Netflix I get:

Marco Polo
The Do-over
The Ridiculous 6
Marco Polo One Hundred Eyes

I'm at the computer - not in front of the Vizio - are these all Dolby Vision?

Thx

I was pretty impressed (not talking about movie quality... that's up to you). I talking about DV grading. About 1 hour into the film things get pretty darn good right through to the end.

Cool. I want something to watch for my first DV. I have Gatsby on BR back when it came out (not sure I care to see it again) and I am not sure I care that much about Pacific Rim. I am kind of a comic book nerd but wasn't able to see BvS in theater. I could see myself watching it again.

I would much rather have to deal with Best Buy customer service, if it meant not having to deal with Samsungs. I had issues with my JS8500 and they had the worst customer service I've ever experienced. They kept changing how they were going to replace the tv, then refund, then tv of same value for 3 weeks. Finally, I got the refund after a month and purchased the P series. Best decision I've made in a long time. I've heard nothing but great things about Vizios and imo I'd rather have the better manufacturer customer service which you will need to deal with for the year vs a 30-45 day period.

Since the update to the Vudu app last week I've been unable to stream anything in UHD. It says the tv only supports HDX. Anyone else having that issue?

The only workaround I found is to use the Club3D adapter (https://www.amazon.com/Club3D-Displa.../dp/B017BQ8I54).

I think the problem is related to the fact the EDID returned by the Vizio TVs is somewhat "inconventional" and the nvidia drivers don't recognize everything. For example, with my Samsung JU7100, 1440p is recognized directly without the need of the Club3d adapter.

If you use the Club3d adapter, make sure you contact the Club3d support email to get the firmware update, and also make sure you use "59Hz" instead of "60Hz", it makes the signal more stable (i.e. avoids the "black" screen for 1 seconds once every 10 min or so).
I originally suggested this to another member. I was using the club3d adapter but received several dropouts even with the firmware update. The best choice if you do not have a 4k receiver but still want HD sound,is to hook up gpu straight to tv and 2nd hdmi cable from hdmi port of motherboard to receiver. There is a process that if your interested go back to friendlysmith(me) in this thread...I no longer have dropouts. The only strange issue I have seen is sometimes youtube videos cause black screen if I have resolution at 1080p 120fps but I'm chalking that up to my gpu's crossfired....

I watch a lot of sports on my P65 using DirecTv and IMHO they look great. There is some banding (mainly in hockey) but nothing terrible.
Since this display came out after football season I was glad I still had this years Super Bowl on my DVR and I thought it looked fantastic.
I also watch a lot of NBA and MLB, both of which look great.
So if sports are your thing you will be very happy with this display.

Quick question. Vudu says 11 Mbps is fine for their 4K DV and Netflix recommends 25 Mbps. I'm only getting & paying for 20 Mbps, so is Netflix being realistic with their compression rate. I don't mind paying for the higher plan if 20 Mbps is adequate. Thanks.

I even tried while in an activity, going to another input, then using my Cast activity and it worked every time.
What throws things off for me is when I do casting, the casting is initiated by the tablet i am using. I would typically be on HDMI1 watching DIRECTV. Then I pull out the table to cast and from the Youtube app I cast. Now I am on the cast input on the Vizio, but the Harmony will have no idea that I am not on HDMI 1 anymore. That is where I end up using the next input button on the 650's screen.

I checked and I do have discrete inputs for all inputs aside from CAST. I have a InputAV that I am not sure what it is for and I had to remove it from the sequence.

I have a comment & a question.

I've had my P55 since June 1st. I previously had a 2007 Pany plasma(not high end), in Jan.2015, I purch. a 2014 Vizio M60. I really liked this TV, but it was destroyed by my wife(due to a fall). The only problem I had was that my desktop is located across the room and I had to look over my shoulder to see the TV. I sit about 10'-15' from the TV and at an angle of 45deg. The M60(VA screen) was always washed out, when viewed from this angle.

But the P55(IPS screen) has a much better picture, especially from my angled viewing spot!

I have a Sony Blu-ray & a Sony soundbar hooked up to the P55. I have cast You Tube 4K video to the display & it's has an amazing picture & no problems!

Now my question: What's the cheapest way to try DV content? I have Amazon Prime, but that's not even true 4K. I don't want to invest in anymore paid content, until I have decided what is the best choices for me. Right now, I watch Comcast X-1, You Tube & Amazon Prime. No gaming.

Any help with the DV content question?

Great thread. I'm currently running DisplayCalNoob's Cal. Dark settings or I just use Cal.(default).

Thanks, G.W.

At the moment I went straight from the GTX980ti to HDMI-4 and I'm getting [email protected] in full RGB colorspace. I did enable sub sampling on input 4, so I'm going to put the AVR back in the chain and see where that gets me. Looks really good. Played a few rounds of The Division Underground expansion, no flickering, black frames or anything. Flawless.

edit: Only oddity is that while I'm positive the computer is outputting 1440p, the Vizio thinks it's getting 2160p per the input hud, but whatever it works.

Sometimes when all of my roommates are home sucking up bandwidth, I get by on 20mb/s with Netflix just fine.

Did you watch the new season of Bosch? I was surprised how good it looked on Fire tv 2nd gen. Weird thing is it said something about uHD during load, like Netflix says Dolby Vision during loading.

Wish Fire tv was 2.0a hdmi. Stupid. Why put out UHD if you don't have hardware that supports it?

You can try it with your own setup and gear. If there is a bandwidth problem you can upgrade then.

Thanks for the reply.

Did you try changing the refresh rate to 59hz? That pretty much solved the dropouts issue for me.

The original poster was asking about [email protected] Did you manage to get this particular resolution with the hdmi port of the gpu? ([email protected] should be in the list of supported resolution, but no entry for 60hz).
Did you manage to get this particular resolution with the hdmi port of the gpu? ([email protected] should be in the list of supported resolution, but no entry for 60hz).
I got it to work by enabling HDMI sub-sampling on input 4, and connecting directly to the GPU. It supports full or limited RGB colorspace at [email protected]/60Hz

Another question for y'all. I have an older non arc receiver (onkyo sr605).

I probably don't want to get another receiver right now. Can I simply go from directv box/Roku/AppleTv/to tv. And then run optical cable from tv to receiver to handle sound?

Big thanks to mpgxsvcd for his bullet points on the pros and cons. Still on the fence when it comes to the P Series and whether I'm stepping down to a 65" for my 19' x 9'4" man cave, but getting close to making a decision soon once a new sale price drops or the M70 changes my mind. Which is what my wife is hoping for the latter since she feels it fits all of needs for the room and give me the size I was originally after. Some of you love the P Series, but some of have had some issues. So I thought I'd ask a couple of questions. As most of you know I'm looking for something to watch BD's (some that are black and white movies), stream (No Comcast) and game on my One. Reviews and DV/HDR10 aside, what sold you on the P Series from the rest? What is the point of casting via a tablet if it works better on your IOS or Android smart phone? Is this something that can be worked out through a firmware update? Will I have any problems with my Onkyo HT-S5300 or will I need to upgrade it or buy a soundbar instead? I know some of you have had some issues with ARC. I know there's more, but the hour is getting late. So I'd appreciate the pros and cons you owners have had with this set and whether you think they'll get ironed out in future firmwares? Thanks.
