Is it enough to have 500 W UPS?
Sony lists the power consumption of the 940C at 478W (Specifications).

Looking at the runtime chart in your link, the TV would stay on for about 2 minutes in a power outage.

Yes, I saw it. My intension is to supply power in short power outage, not to watch movies on UPS supply.
Firmware update last about 60 minutes, I can't afford to buy UPS for this case scenario power outage.
Is 478W max peak power requirement for 9405 or better to buy more powerfull solutions like this?

Downloading a new software update for the 940C this morning.
20 minutes in so far. Not sure what new features might be added.

I got the update as well but its still not marshmallow update sadly so still build 5.1. I checked there website to see what they added for the new software update but it still says the old version on date 4/7. So they haven't updated the driver/software on the website yet to see what changes they did.

Exclamation What to look for buying a demo 940C

Tomorrow I am going to look at a demo 940C at my local electronics store and I need to know what to check to make sure its ok to buy.

Is there any test patterns I can download to see if there is any dead pixels or other screen problems.

What do you think is a fair price for a in store demo model ?

I really like this TV and it still has the factory warranty. I will get the 930D if there is a problem with it or if you think I should not take the risk with a TV that may have been on for 12 hours a day for a year.

Repost from another thread.

Just look for any bad pixels or any type damage to unit. Otherwise if at a good price then I would jump all over it.

Maybe 2500-3000

I'm on the same boat....looking at picking up a demo 940C from a local AV shop. I was able to get to the blue diag screen and saw it had 4600 hours on it, this works out to 12hrs/day for a year. Dealer has everything but the box, still has plastic on the edges and no dead pixles. I'm getting it for 3000 (+tax) with full year warranty + and additional year on my card. Good deal considering I can get a 940D from an authorized dealer for $2300 more?

Hi fellow 940c owners.

When watching HDR 4k discs i notice i cant get the picture to be as contrasty as the bluray disc. Since we are locked out of many of the HDR picture settings... what can i do to give the picture more pop with having to use the HDR Vivid with sharp edges setting?

I have a question with the VIDEO APP , is there a way to list the files, instead of having big thumbnails?? its stupid I cant see the full file name? I have had a look around but can't see anything? also does anyone else notice when you insert a USB it doesn't find the files straight away you have to wait..

Thanks for posting this! It wasn't available via the TV for me, I had to go to Sony's site and download it to USB.

The TV seems faster overall, I'm glad they finally came out with it.
