I just updated my HTPC to Windows 10 Version 1903 from Windows 10 Version 1803. As always with a major Windows update, there are problems. I am running an Nvidia Geforce 1050ti video card in my HTPC. I reinstalled the newest Nvidia driver. I'm also on the newest firmware for the KS8000. UHD color is on for all of my TV's inputs.
After the update, SDR still looks great using slightly tweaked stock Samsung settings for Movie mode on the KS8000.
But, when I toggle HDR on in Windows 10, everything looks completely washed out, almost black and white, even though the TV displays HDR when I press the Info button on the remote and I can tell the picture settings are switching to what used to work well for HDR (slightly tweaked default Samsung HDR Movie Mode settings).
To get the Windows desktop, SDR movies, or even HDR movies to look half-way normal with HDR toggled "On" in Windows settings, I had to crank the color on the TV all the way up to 85! Any ideas what may be wrong?
I have both SDR and HDR looking okay to my eyes. The TV is remembering my settings and switching like it should when I toggle HDR off and on in Windows settings, so I can live with it. Still, I feel like jacking up the color that much can't possibly render an accurate 4K HDR picture.
