Does this mean I have to keep local dimming feature turned off permanently to achieve good dark room viewing? Does this affect HDR in anyway? Trying to get any more info before I purchase one of these tonight.
There's some blooming when local dimming is set to high in some cases (credits scenes, PS4 turning on, etc.) otherwise for HDR I keep it on high with backlight set to max and it looks great on the Xbox S while for non-HDR games I lower the backlight and set it to low and it looks almost perfect.

Edit: can't delete my earlier post where I didn't quote the guy. Sorry.

Thanks. Quite. And I know I'm adding one more.

When searching back for firmware updates last night, I found a post of mine complaining that there were 3000 posts and it was making it hard because of all the FAQs. 3000 posts was luxury!

So it seems like the still haven't fixed the HDR issue with the PS4 Pro with the 1152 firmware. It's not a big deal, but can be quite annoying to have to keep manually changing the backlight level to 20 and dynamic contrast for HDR enabled games. Thinking about it... maybe this is an issue with the PS4 pro and not the KS8000 itself....

Either way, form what I can gather the 1152 firmware update enabled HDR through youtube... and potentially some bugs being fixed as well as stability...

Still nothing for over the air through the TV itself however...

I find the local dimming feature (Smart LED) useless. The reason is because it isn't simply doing local dimming, it's also adjusting the contrast in an aggressive way, causing clipping in all content I've tried it with.

You can't lower the contrast manually to get around it either, as I tried lowering contrast from 95 to 30 (where the image is super dim), and it still clips content with Smart LED on low. Tried it in Captain America Civil War, Dog Day Afternoon and Zodiac. Got clipping in all of them on lights, car hoods, and even on people's faces during normal dialog scenes.

The feature seems designed to decrease the perceived amount of visible backlight at any cost. Haven't found any situation either in SDR or HDR where I prefer it on, as I go crazy the second I see clipping.

I also have never been a fan of that feature. Even on the lowest settings, I find it distracting.

Be wary of that site. According to rting, they tested the "input lag" in a 4K60 4:4:4 HDR mode, on a whole load of TVs, even though no such mode exists with a HDMI2.0a connection

I just purchased this TV (thanks for the heads up on the EPP by the way!) and am needing some quick advice. I am going to order a wall mount and would prefer one of the slim designs where it is only an inch from the wall but want to understand how the control box works. I'm assuming it will have 4 HDMI inputs for my devices that I can leave in the cabinet and then run 1 long HDMI cable to the TV through the wall so it is hidden. Is that correct? If I need to place it next to the TV then I will need to get a mount that has more room behind the TV.

Thanks in advance

Isn't the peak brightness with it off only around 500 with it off though in HDR? Do you find it worth it to have those 2% and 10% highlights only hit 500 nits?

I have so little HDR material that it hadn't occurred to me. I saw in Uncharted 4 that Smart LED blew out details on lamps, but now that I watched a few HDR demo clips comparing the Smart LED modes it did make a minor difference in a few scenes. It might work best for HDR film, as it was in Uncharted 4 I decided Smart LED wasn't good enough.

That's the back panel separation thing you can read about in this thread. Mine is doing the same thing. They really should have used some screws along the perimeter.

How bad is this issue? Is it something most people would be able to live with, or does it need to be fixed asap?

I seem to be getting stutter issues with my KS8000(uk) with Sky HD+, every so often, the screen seems to freeze/slow motion for about a second.

When I rewind the same scene, it doesn't appear and I have auto motion plus off, any idea what causes it.

Doesnt seem to affect any other sources.

I haven't tried that yet. I had considered clear packing tape along the side bezel overwrapping the back panel, but then I figure it'll warp some other place. It's just a bad physical design.

Sorry but if I paid a thousand dollars or more , I'm not resorting to tape. That tv would be returned again.
However - without a fix offered by Samsung , it seems to me it's inevitable that it will happen again

I think any KS TVs currently in the supply chain are going to do this. Samsung would have to make a change in current production runs for future store stock. I agree its not ideal, but it also doesn't affect the picture in any way. A mild annoyance.

I just got this TV and I love it, except I'm kind of one fence of considering this edge bleed as normal after going through this thread.

It is hard to see in pictures, but there's an even bleed on the bottom from it being edge lit that gets up to 1/2" big. It shows up in brighter scenes and drives my OCD crazy.

Do I risk swapping it out for another? The top edge is perfect.
