Arrived back in town a day early so had the set delivered! lol... 55" ks8000.

As much as I liked the look of the TV in the store, it looks even better in my study. No banding, bad pixels, etc... (At least that I see) and I'm not going to take a magnifying glass out to search for any either. The lady who delivered the TV was impressed with the way it was packaged. lol

Haven't messed with too many settings yet, but I'm trying to decide if I want to spend the money to have Chad calibrate this or not? I probably will end up doing it at some point, but will just eye it at the moment. Haven't tried netflix or any other apps yet either. But will be checking into things over the weekend.

Overall first impression is fantastic. Great set for my needs.

I'm with you...

I'm a big gamer so input lag is very important for me with any TV I consider.

Interested to see input lag on all these new Samsungs.

Has anyone calibrated their set? All these new settings have me a bit confused. Definitely think I'll need to have Chad or someone to come in and calibrate for 4k, HDR etc...

ks8000 55

Just got my ks8000 yesterday, hooked up to my Samsung k8500 dvd, plunged in the Martian, ouch, great picture, plunged in a USB with some 720p tv shows, great looking, better up scaling than on my Samsung 8550 happy camper.

Forgot I had purchased the Samsung UHD pack last year when it was on sale for $60 (or was it $50?)... has 10 movies or so and a bunch of documentaries. Plugged it into the USB port and bam, presto... movies look great on the set.

I picked up this TV over the weekend and confirm that it doesn't currently offer VUDU or FandangoNow/Mgo. I hope they'll come shortly but using VUDU on my 4K Blu-ray player in it's place for the time being.

Love the look of the TV and the screen is awesome. I'm also really blown away with the remote it comes with and the new Smart OS.

I have read through this thread and did not see if the screen is glossy or mat finish ( I may have missed it). I am returning a LG 55UH7700 and am looking at this set as a replacement. I was considering the JS8500 but I believe it has a glossy screen which would reflect too much light where I want to put it. Thanks.

I'll check mine when I get home. I haven't paid much attention to it but at the same time, mine doesn't reflect much light and I have pretty bright livingroom lamps on each side of the couch that the TV is fairly close to and facing. Doesn't bother me like it did with the previous TV I had there.

Hey guys! I picked up a 65" KS8000 tonight and just got it all set up. Thus far no issues at all and it looks wonderful. I don't have time tonight but tomorrow night hopefully I will have time to answer questions for yall.

Tizen 2.0 seems to be plenty fast and Marco Polo and Daredevil look great. I am very excited to mess with the settings and get this baby fine tuned.

If you could take some pics of movie with letterbox. I would like to see if how those blacks look from the edge lighting.

Have my eye on the 65 KS8000 set myself...Curious to see thoughts and reviews on it. Also really want to know how the input lag is and how it works for gaming.

Although, I probably won't be buying it until much later in the year when the price comes down some.

Hi Guys,

I also got myself the 65KS8000 a couple of days ago. Tried to toggle settings around and found that the "Movie" preset is the best out of them.
I also tried the KS9500 settings from rtings but that gave me too strong "yellows" so went back to "Movie".

HDR looks amazing of course and up-scaling of content is pretty good.

The blacks are great but of course you'll see some light bleed on a black screen with just a logo showing since it's an Edge-lit display.

So far 0 issues, I updated to the 1008 firmware but didn't see any changes.

If anyone needs/wants me to test anything please let me know!

I purchased the 65KS8000 a few days ago (after returning the 2016 Vizio P65) and I am really enjoying it.

The upscaling and picture is so much more vivid than the P65. Games look great, as well.

I have a 5.1 Sonos set-up and I noticed the sound is even improved.

when I was researching this replacement set, I noticed on the spec sheet from Samsung's website it said the OCB cord is 3M (~9FT), but when I got the unit, it was only 6FT. I contacted support this morning and they are sending me a 9F replacement cord.

I'm down to choosing the 65ks8000 or the p65. Leaning to the Samsung. I use Amazon a lot, I assume it's 4k streaming works here? Also like the normal remote. It's the bezel silver or darker? Think black levels are close to the p65? Waiting for Sale.

@tcat

I haven't tried the Amazon 4K streaming, so I can't speak to that.

The remote is pretty minimal (button wise), but it takes no time to get used too.

The bezel is silver, but it is so small, you hardly notice it.

The blacks aren't as deep as the P65, but I have no issues with them. I lucked out and have a great panel with deep blacks and very little flash-lighting. Truth be told. I hardly notice anything during letter boxed movies or cut scenes in games.

I saw your PM, but I don't have enough posts to reply. Gaming has been wonderful so far. Input lag is minimal and, truth be told, I can't really tell much different from the P65. I did have to adjust judder and motion control to my liking, but I have had no issues since. Games look vivid and are very responsive.

I got it at Best Buy. The price increase (vs the P65) was worth it for the much better upscaling and vibrant, realistic picture. I have elite plus, so I am hoping the price goes down in the next 45 days and I can get a price match.

The P65 tablet was pretty intersesting. It was basically a full blown android tablet, but I am glad to have a "normal" remote. I will be upgrading to a Harmony Smart Home remote in the next few days

I'm not familiar with smart hub. Is it like Roku where you can delete apps you don't want? Does Samsung update software more often than Panasonic? (more often than every 2 or 3 years). Hate to have to wait a year for amazon to update. Amazon does stream 4k, just not hdr, right?

Yes, you can delete and add apps that will update automatically. Right now I'm frustrated with my KS8000 because so far there is no Vudu or FandangoNow app.

Yeah I'm. Not sold on the whole using the tablet. I kinda like seeing options on the set itself. I'm going replace my 8550 4k set and was really looking at this one. Any pics you all could share would be appreciated also will this also be compatible with their smart home devices or is that only the 9000 series?

Just got back from bb. Had a p65 and 55ks8000 out. Really like the look of the Samsung! Talk about a thin bezel! The silver is like 1/16", then about 3/16 of black back paint. If the two were the same cost there'd be no question, but at $800 more, maybe? Hopefully will go on sale. The 10% rewards isn't too bad if purchased this month. I babe sought problem with regular remote batteries going dead in a year, can't imagine what issues a tablet will have (even with its charging station). Leaning very heavily to the ks8000!

Was there something specific that made you take the P65 back? I'm in the marker and thinking abut the P65 or the KS8000 and I'm not sure which one I will go with yet. A lot of people seem sold on the P series, but I'm not completely sold from what I've seen.

Good for you to notice the cable length in the spec sheet! I thought mine seemed shorter than I expected. I called and have a longer one being sent as well.

It wasn't one major thing, it was a few smaller things I couldn't get past.

-Upscaling wasn't as good as I hoped. Anything less than 1080P DirecTV looked muted.

-I had a slight yellow band in the middle and the right side of the scrren (about an inch) was lighter in color than the rest of the screen.

-No matter what I did to the settings, I never felt like I could get the picture to my liking. I spent more time looking down at the tablet than looking at the screen.

-I would have the occassional sound drop

So, despite amazing blacks, great HDR images and being FALD, I couldnt overlook these few issues.

Yeah smart things. I'm interested in that some cool automation on the TV.

So, despite amazing blacks, great HDR images and being FALD, I couldnt overlook these few issues.
i see you have an x850c, how does the ks8000 compare? i have a 65x850c i'm not very happy with banding/dse on
