It just popped up the other day while watching something. I actually came on here to find out any info on it and was surprised to see no one posted about it. I haven't used the TV much at all since I updated it but I am about to now. Not sure I'll notice any differences however, as I don't use this TV much.

Hello friends, I have a ks8000 and i'm looking for some good calibrations for gaming. I used to the rtings setting and the color looks a bit too dim, even though i know it's probably accurate.
Can anyone tell me some good settings?

Thanks

I checked for update and it says nothing for me. Even the Korean site still has 1180 for download.

Yes I noticed that too. No idea why my set got it. If you don’t believe me for some reason, I can take a pic or video.

Although it would a pretty weird thing for me to lie about.

So that worked....

However now my tv defaults to PCM when I'm watching cable, bluray, Netflix, etc. so every show I watch I have to manually change it t DTS / Dolby now!

I never had to do this before. This is so ridiculously annoying. Is there anyway to have my tv go back to just automatically outputting the right Audio format?

By any chance someone can tell me if they are 2.4ghz or 5ghz AC?

Gonna go chat with Sony as well, since I have 3x 4K TVs
Ditto @cydeweyz , except my router is downstairs in a shelf alcove in our kitchen as it has always been since we went wireless. I have my KS8000 and one hooked up to 5ghz. Everything else is running on the 2.4 ghz. Haven't had any complaints using it this way for quite some time.

Turn up the Color. Seriously. Just bump it up to 60. That was the whole difference between the HDR image in particular looking bland to my eyes and appearing the way it should have. That's a far less aggressive option than using Dynamic Contrast which does all kinds of crap to the image and I've learned to turn it off altogether.

Beyond that some of the settings above are really good. I liked the calibration listed on this board the best...YMMV with the brightness in your viewing locale, but the color needed to be turned up on my set and that was the only major adjustment I made from those settings.

Last night i did put side by side my ks8000 and the old LG plasma for a comparison after 2 week of usage and settings. I've discovered that at the same brightness level the plasma has much brighter peak spot lights in dark image like a dim room with table laps or xmas lights at night. Way much brighter even turning backlight at 6 and smart led high on the KS, the room was completely dimmed. Blacks are better on the samsung now but the overall Plasma PQ is still unbeatable. From a 1000000 bilion nits tv set i was expecting a better performance. Any suggestions?

How did you set both panels to the "same brightness level"? Simply setting the Samsung to say, brightness 80, and then doing the same with the plasma, doesn't mean they both are set at the same brightness level. Two completely different technologies. The brightness setting of 80 on the plasma will not be the same as 80 on the Samsung. Sorry but not very scientific and doesn't hold much weight.

In some way plasma shortcomings acts like dynamic contrast.. small bright spots get max brightness and whole screen bright scenes get quite low peak brightness. My earlier tv was a samsung plasma so I can relate to that feeling
Try out dynamic contrast if it helps, sure it ruins gamma curves etc. but plasma had it own fluctuations so why not

yeah, that what i thought. DC ruins other aspect of the image like details on the lamp shade.

I was watching Ozark on Netflix. The KS with its native app and via Apple TV on the Plasma. Do you think that is the ATV to process the SDR streaming in a better way?

More testing and reviews of 1201 needs to be done. We don't want to have a 1169 firmware mess up again.

Hi

I have a 65" KS8000 that has an odd problem...

I have taken a picture of said problem showing what looks like backlight bleed actually coming through the screen, there is a visable line appearing about an inch in from the bottom left side.

I have only had the TV for just over 6 months and would like to know how to catagorise the defect...

Can anyone shed some light? Pardon the pun...

Could you check the sharpness/ PQ level / judder and game mode/ gamed if you see any difference from 1180.5. A youtube 4K HDR video sometimes help me make see the difference since I got so used into comparing then from each update. Or your overall feeling... Like placebo effect if you feel any improvement. Thanks

I'd like to know if they fixed that audio delay bug, if you bitstream to receiver. And Game mode actually makes the delay worse, I guess because the picture is faster to display.
