I ran that chroma test website on my TV and only PC mode showed the text properly, game mode looked a bit blurry. Because of this, I left it on PC mode. (unfortunately them Native for Color Space is unchangeable) Site: http://www.geeks3d.com/20141203/how....our-4k-uhd-tv/

As for PC HDR gaming, doesn't seem to work at all, with NVIDIA blaming MS's HDR implementation. I haven't seen any solutions on this, outside reverting to old drivers, but I rather keep my drivers up to date.

Yes, PC mode is best for PC if you don't game or care about lag (but even the mouse pointer will be sluggish without game mode enabled).

Regarding keeping drivers up to date, it's a misguided assumption that it is needed as the latest builds have been a mess (384.xx series). 382.53 is ok from the 382 branch and 378.92 is the best of all the more recent drivers (proper HDR functionality even after Win10 Creators).

Now if Samsung would just fix the auto HDR settings load in game mode we'd be ok on 378.92 until MS fixes HDR.

It's no longer on the first post or anywhere in other posts. Interesting....

See attached. I've asked to have it re-added to first post.

Hi. I'm looking to pick one up a 55KS8000 for cheap, but not sure if it will fit on my TV stand. If anyone could measure the width between the legs, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Edit:

Never mind. Just saw the owners pdf.

Apps Randomly Start and volume with Sonos strange as well

Tried to search, didnt see anything.

I have a 65 inch KS8000 and other than the back popping off and the slight bend to the screen, i love the TV visually. But the apps are driving me crazy, HGTV and Food network will randomly start and log me in everytime i restart the tv. And i have to restart the TV because the apps hang after you have gone in and out of them a few times. i.e, netflix and youtube will pick back up where you were but you will not be able to navigate using the arrows in them randomly after exiting to live tv and back to the app. I hold the power for 15 seconds, restart the TV and the frozen apps work but then HGTV and FooD Network randomly start and log me in and I have switch back to live tv.

Also, have a sonos sound bar and the volume controls work on the samsung remote using the bose surround sound trick but if you go from live TV to youtube, volumn controls work, if you got from youtube to another app without going to live tv in between the volume controls do not work, like you have to go to live tv between every app switch to ensure volume controls work. Also, the volume controls do not work on the PC input regardless so I have to get out the sonos app.

Anyone have suggestions or thoughts. I am on the latest firmware to my knowledge as well.

Thanks,

Not sure what to tell you, since your TV is working the way it was designed to and seems to work for everyone else. A factory reset won't help since this is the way Samsung TV's work. I think most of the TV apps are DD, your cable will likely be DD, I think the Xbox defaults to DD... if so it's possible you just didn't run into this issue until you start playing back videos on your DLNA player that had DTS. When I first got my Xbox One I set it to use DTS for everything until I realized this quirk, then I set it to DD and never had to switch it again unless I happened to watch a bluray with DTS, which was a rare thing for me. If your TV really honestly truly was switching back and forth between DD and DTS automatically, then something was broken since it's not programmed to do this.

Not once did I read anywhere that I'd have to manually change the Audio format constantly. Samsung certainly didn't advertise this fact either. They listed all the formats it supported through audio out, but they did not say what a labor intensive process it would be.
This behaviour is something that's been talked about a lot since the early days of the thread, and is still being talked about. I do agree about it being such a labour intensive process tho. I was always sweating by the time I changed from DD to DTS and had to catch my breath before watching my next show. On the plus side, I dropped 5 lbs in the first month :P

On earlier firmwares I found the apps hung a lot. That went away after a firmware update a while back and I haven't had that since. My only suggestion would be to double check that you are on the latest firmware. As for having apps start up to log you in, I've never had that happen but I also don't used HGTV and Food networks. Maybe it's something peculiar to those apps? I don't recall anyone mentioning this behaviour before.

PC mode is ok. But it missing all the calibration features. Instead you need to rely on a LUT in PC mode to get color and b&w accuracy.

It's not Samsung, it's Windows. I am running Fast ring 16232 build. And RE7 and Shadow Warriors 2 switch fine now. However, Mass Effect will not switch (1.09 patch). In the setting menu it shows HDR10, but it won't trigger HDR mode (forced or auto; nor forced with NCP 4:2:2 10bit/12bit). I am going to try Mass Effect in HDR10 and Dolby Vision with my LG C7P this weekend if I have time.

Well that might be the best mode for gaming but if the soruce has more than one device connected to it (soundbar with HDMI) then switching to PC is not the right mode for (e.g.) my bluray player

I think you misread what I stated and took it out of context.

Actually it is Samsung regarding HDR settings not auto loading in Game mode on the KS series (this is a known issue). Meaning... the display does recognize that the signal is HDR but it does not auto load HDR settings while in Game mode (if you do not have Game mode enabled then it will auto load HDR settings in Standard or Movie mode).

I stated that MS needs to fix HDR regarding Windows 10 but that it does work on driver 378.92 (switches accordingly but the KS display still does not auto load HDR settings if you have Game mode enabled).

This behavior from the KS8000/8500 display is consistent regardless of the source while Game mode is enabled.

If you use 378.92 then you do not use the 'HDR enable' setting within Windows 10.

It's not the best mode for gaming because you cannot enable Game mode while you are under the KS8000/8500 "PC" umbrella.

Has anyone here his TV connected via HDMI to his PC and duplicating the screens so he can watch movies/shows/play games on the big screen?

I have the problem that, no matter what I show on the screen, the TV is going black on and off all the time. By default when duplicating the TV and PC screen, it goes to 60hz; that is fine. However I never figured a way out to fix this?

I tested around, selected as source for the connection blue ray/pc/gaming - no difference. What I saw however, when leaving the source as PC, it is switching between standard and movie mode back and forth - that is when the screen goes black on and off. Then I selected gaming console and forced it to gaming so it could not switch around, however still back screen off/on.

If you are duplicating and your PC monitor is 1080p then the KS8000/8500 is only receiving a 1080p signal (when multiple displays are connected the pc will default to the lowest native resolution of any of the connected displays and send that to all connected displays).

Then if you try to send the signal to the KS8000/8500 alone the pc is trying to send the displays native resolution and you may not have a [email protected] capable HDMI cable (black screen).

Of course it could be a totally different issue but that's where I would start looking.

I have my TV connected to my card via HDMI as well. I didn't duplicate my screen, I use it as an extended screen. My monitor is 1080P and my TV is set to 4K. I launch Steam and go into Big Picture Mode so it automatically goes to the TV and I can play in 4K. I hope they fix Windows 10 HDR so I can play HDR games as well. (Hitman)

So I should edit the PC mode to something else to use Game Mode? I left it on PC mode only because of the PDF mentioning to run this test: http://www.geeks3d.com/20141203/how-...our-4k-uhd-tv/

PC mode is the only mode that shows the text perfectly, hence 4:4:4. Do you mind sharing your nvidia settings for PC gaming?
I have attached mine, please advise for best 4K settings. Appreciate it.

I've recently had an issue with this TV and was wondering if anyone knows what it could be. Basically, when I turn the TV on all I see are these fixed, horizontal purple and green lines. They run all across the screen. No matter what input I select, they are always there. I can't even see the menu because when I click the home button, I hear the menu pop up, but I don't see it. I called Samsung and they're sending a technician to look at it. I've had this TV since November and haven't had any issues until now. It's never been physically damaged or anything. Any idea what this problem is?

I am getting a PS4 Pro. For HDR, in Game Mode, should I leave color on auto or move it to native? I know in Movie mode etc., you leave it on auto, but based on the KS's settings not automatically changing to HDR for Game Mode, I wonder if color needs to be forced to native.

It could be a bad HDMI cable, but it could also be something inside the TV/OneConnect. Hopefully the tech will be able to pinpoint it for you.

on the TV end, you have to choose between:
  • Having 4:4:4 Chroma (this is only possible with the "input type set to PC", sometimes confusingly called "PC mode" but this is not a Display Mode . This input type restricts the TV to only being able to enter these Display Modes: Standard, Dynamic or "Sport").
  • Having a low input lag, this is only possible in the Game Display Mode.

It's not possible to have both a low input lag AND 4:4:4 Chroma at the same time. Also, with the "input type set to PC", sometimes confusingly called "PC mode" but this is not a Display Mode , the Colour Space is forced to Native which will be wrong at least when playing back video.

The only display mode where Native is good is the HDR+ simulation mode. [In HDR+ mode, Color Space should absolutely be set to Native, which intelligently scales the color space using Samsung's statistically-derived algorithm. Using HDR+ without Native completely defeats the purpose of using HDR+]

Unfortunately, it's locked to Native in some other Display Modes. This isn't a good thing. Thankfully, in the Game display mode, Auto is still available.

Samsung has published their release candidate build in the app store, available in 54 countries worldwide.

Fixes in this build:
Fixed initial pairing and discovery issues
Added support for advanced streaming settings
Added support for 4K streaming on 2017 TVs
Finalized shipping controller support (Steam Controller, Xbox 360 wired and wireless, Xbox One wired, Logitech F510/F710)

Known issues:
4K streaming is not supported on 2016 TVs (models KS and KU) and you'll get a black screen if you try it.
Entering PIN authorization code is not supported and the stream won't start
Other errors starting streaming are not reported, check computer to make sure it's not locked and Steam doesn't have a driver installation dialog up
Rumble on Xbox controllers causes a lag spike
I can confirm that the app has appeared on my UK model's "app shop".

Hi all, I have recently noticed a "white/birght line" on the lower right side of my screen out of nowhere. It's only visible on brighter images though. I had this TV since 2016 and didn't have any hardware related issues with it.

Could anyone explain what this is and if there is a fix for it? I've marked the issue with a red circle:

I also use my KS8000 in extended desktop mode. I believe if you "clone" or copy or duplicate your display, it forces the KS8000 to use the same setting/mode what ever your original display is.

I primarily use the KS8000 to watch videos and movies in my gaming room. So I don't use the PC mode nor the game mode. I have a 35" Acer 4K as my main; as soon as those 4k HDR G-sync monitor comes out I'll be going back to my 3x surround setup. I sure miss my 3x 35" 4K surround setup

Trying to find a solution to this super annoying multiple remote issue.. I have my Blu Ray player and cable box plugged into my AVR and would like to use my Samsung remote (universal remote) for both of them. However, I need to add both devices as new as if they aren't plugged into the same HDMI (through the AVR) because if I setup both through home theatre setup instead of tv it will power off my AVR when trying to turn on/off my Blu Ray player. However, I'm having to setup this way every week because it seems to be sensing there is only 1 HDMI and knocking off the second device under the one HDMI input. Do you see any way around this..? Or am I just unfortunately stuck with setting up weekly for good?

Is it not an option for you to connect your cable box to the OneConnect?

I didn't know if it would still be able to utilize the speaker setup through the AVR?

You can, but there are limitations. I don't need more than 5.1 and typical/common digital sound modes so it works very well for me with ARC and my Denon S720 AVR.

I have most of my devices connected to the OCB and I really enjoy using the Samsung remote and the user experience. My Samsung UHD BD player is connected through my AVR and I am also able to use the Samsung TV remote to control it. It does sometimes get confused with power on/off though.

The overall device interaction can be challenging to standardize and centralize to your liking. Some people find using a universal remote such as Logitech helpful.

Ah, yeah... that's what I thought.

I really love the simplistic Samsung remote.. dang it.

Are any of the universal remotes simple like it? Pretty decent price? So would a universal remote then be able to control the tv, AVR, UHD Blu Ray player, PC input, and cable box all at once?

I use a Harmony One to control everything and it makes life much easier. Not difficult setting it up either.
