In case y'all aren't in the other Hisense thread and are interested, I did a video review of the new 65" H8C, which is indeed a much different set than the 55.

2016 Hisense H8C, H5C, H4C and H3C Entry Level series

I just ordered the 65 inch version with HDR from Best Buy with delivery for Friday. I have a question about sound set up. I currently have a Sony sound bar with HDMI Passthrough but it does not pass through 4K. So, what I was thinking was routing my Apple TV and Blu-ray player through the sound bar to HDMI three on the TV and then my TiVo 4K bolt direct to the TV on HDMI four. I'll hook up the optical cable from the TV back to the sound bar to hear sound from the TV apps and the TiVo Does this sound right?

Also, what is the height from the bottom of the stand to the actual viewing area of the TV. I've got a 3 inch in height Sony sound bar and I'm hoping it's not going to cover up any of the TV.

My setup: Sony 65X900F w/ Sony UBP-X700, Tivo Bolt 4k, AppleTV 4k (64GB), Sony HT-Z9F soundbar w/ Sony SAZ9R rear wireless speakers. TCL 4K 43" S405 w/ Sony UBP-X800, Tivo Mini 4k and Sony HT-XT100 soundbar.

Great review! Can't wait to get mine. Where can I find the other thread? Thank you.

Hisense sent me the attached spec sheet for the 65H8C. Does anyone notice any differences on the 65 from the 50 and 55 models. Do they have wide color gamut?

Anyone know the best calibration settings for the h8c 55" for when watching cable TV, I don't feel the picture is as good as it could be when watching cable. I also own the Samsung ubd k-8500 4k Blu-ray player and would like to know the best settings for the Blu-ray itself as well as with the TV.

Try the one from rtings.com and see if you like it.

I tried those settings when I first unboxed the setup and didn't care for them too much, I tried settings that user posted on here but tweaked them a bit, more to my taste, I know you can only get so much out of cable TV quality especially when it's only 1080i

Download the AVS HD 709 patterns here and try the white clipping pattern and the black clipping pattern.
You will see an improvement by just using those two patterns.

I don't know how different the 55 is from the 65, but my settings for the 65 were significantly different from Rtings. The biggest difference was choosing "Standard" picture mode instead of their suggested "Theater"

But then pull the color down somewhere between 33-40. Contrast at 50, brightness somewhere below 50. And if you push the tint up to G5 or so, you call pull back in more color without the skin tones being out of whack.

If I were to put my ps4 (REGULAR NOT PRO) HDMI into HDMI 1 or 2 instead of 3+4 would there be much of a difference in picture quality? if I put the HDMI from my cable box to HDMI 3 or 4 would it be upscaled more?

Why would the 65" be edge lit? My 50 H6C is full array, though it lacks local dimming. And as far as 4K from native apps, that works perfectly on my H6 as well... Kinda glad I didn't get the H8 now. I've got my Vizio P65 C1 for really serious viewing.

They're just totally different sets. Even within the H8C family the 65 is a nearly completely different set than the 55"

What issue are you having exactly? I have a Chromecast Ultra and an NVidia Shield and they both show the HDR icon when viewing titles on my phone (Chromecast Ultra) and on screen (with Shield). Also in Youtube I can play HDR content through Chromecast Ultra and it shows up as HDR on the info on screen.

I did a lot of troubleshooting, playing content from USB and comparing it to the YouTube versions. The YouTube versions through CCU would display the HDR tag, but sometimes they looked different from the same video played from the USB drive. Considering that the TV is not true HDR (and not knowing how the YouTube uploads might have been processed differently from the 'raw' files I had downloaded to USB), it became way too difficult to troubleshoot. Then, their support would call and seemed to understand, but then they would send an email to install firmware which ended up being the same firmware I had the whole time. When I realized that H8C doesn't really display any of the additional range of HDR (it just processes the HDR signal and displays it as SDR), I returned my H8C and got a KS8000.

Ive been asking this for 4 months. Especially when it comes to 4k HDR blu ray. I get response like what do you mean? Why would your settings be different for playing movies.

No one seems to understand that paying games and watching 4k blu ray movies are completely different. The movies are darker.

That maybe I can help you with, when in theater mode the picture is darker, to give you that movie theater feel. To change that switch to standard mode, and you can try these calibration settings to see if you like it these are my current settings

Contrast: 40
Color: 54
Aspect ratio: Direct
Backlight:45 w/ Local dimming on
Tint: 0

(10 point)- 10% r0, g2, b6. 20% r 0, g1, b1. 30% r0, g1, b0 40% r0, g0, b2.
50-80% are all 0.

2016 Hisense H8C, H5C, H4C and H3C Entry Level series

I'm having some audio issues with my new 65H8C. The cable box, Apple TV and Blu-ray player all run directly to the TV. On HDMI 3 I've got an HDMI cable running directly to the HDMI ARC port on my soundbar. I set all of the audio on the TV for ARC and speakers off. All that did was allow control of the soundbar power and volume functions but no sound. I then added an optical cable to the mix. I now have sound. However. the audio level constantly changes and the TV won't retain the ARC priority or speaker off settings. When I turn the TV on after a few hours of non-use the setting reverts back to TV speaker for sound. I get an echo and then have to manually turn the TV speaker off again. Anyone know a way to fix this? Why won't my TV retain the audio speaker output setting?

My setup: Sony 65X900F w/ Sony UBP-X700, Tivo Bolt 4k, AppleTV 4k (64GB), Sony HT-Z9F soundbar w/ Sony SAZ9R rear wireless speakers. TCL 4K 43" S405 w/ Sony UBP-X800, Tivo Mini 4k and Sony HT-XT100 soundbar.

I don't own this set, but most TV's have a specific HDMI Input for ARC. Some times the input even says it. Does this set have that?

Yes I have it in the Arc port on both the TV and sound bar. The TV even recognizes it as an arc device and will power it on and off with the TV and we change the volume level but no sound comes out. I only get audio through optical. The TV won't retain the speaker offsetting either.

Hisense finally updated their website to show the 60H8C. It is listed as a separate model from the 50 and 55 inch versions. This supports the theory that it is a different panel. I wish for rtings.com would do a separate calibration of this model.
