In amazon app - the content didn't show up as HDR, the grand tour, Mozart in the jungle, etc. it shows only at 1080p, from what I read around in the forums, is that amazon that stopped showing these as HDR on the Samsung screens, i.e. they provide the HDR quality to specific devices - I am wondering if this is your case? This is why i asked if this is a "none-US" screen issue?
I was expecting the TV to show up the notification as "HDR" without me having to go to the back-light in settings to confirm its interpreted as HDR
In Netflix - the picture wasn't as crisp as I thought it would be
In Netflix - the dark scenes weren't detailed enough the the blacks got "smeared"
I am watching in a lit up room, latest firmware

what's your thought guys, I had a big dilemma whether I should go for this screen or the LG B6 55" at the same price and put my bets here...
I never have problems getting UHD with either Amazon or Netflix. With Amazon, you may want to make sure you select the UHD version of the show. If you are selecting the UHD version of the show and aren't getting UHD, I think you must have something off in your settings somewhere. I have no idea where though...

I just installed software version 1169. Any idea what's new here relative to 1168? I'm hoping that it will stabilize my list of sources. I'm perpetually "reinstalling" my cable box.

Thanks!

Can you give me a definite example of a UHD content, I searched for the grand tour and got one result of a season (or two) and started to stream that
same for Mozart in the jungle

I am wondering which ones you selected and saw HDR when you paused the video?

BTW - do you live in US? wondering if its a none US issue?

Man in the High Castle and Sneaky Pete are a couple of examples of shows that I've watched in UHD. In the US, both shows had two icons - one that specifically said UHD and one that was silent on whether the show was in UHD. The UHD version triggered a "UHD" message of some sort on my screen. I never clicked on the non-UHD icon to see whether it was the same content with a different icon (i.e. still in UHD) or only HD.

Ive watched Grand Tour & Man in the high castle in 4K UHD HDR via Amazon Prime. Im in the UK.

Like other posters have mentioned, there are TWO versions of each show, UHD & HD (1080P)

They are still available to view right now.

Well Samsung does listen so it looks like they will fix this for those who do not like this feature.

Does this only work with Samsung Soundbars, or will it work with some other manufacture's Soundbars hooked up optically ?

Renting 4k...

So I am really confused other than Amazon and Netflix. How do I rent 4k movies on this TV? I have the 75KS9000
I have tried FandangoNow and I don't get the Ultra HD options anywhere.... did I set something up wrong somewhere? seems like its not very intuative. Youtube 4k stuff works fine and same with netflix. I don't have Amazon so I can't check that. I don't have ROKU just a playstation 4 Pro. I am trying to use the build in apps.

Nope you didn't setup anything wrong. Neither FandangoNow or Vudu have been updated to allow 4K. That's why I bailed and got a Roku.

Ok. Thanks. I found a few documentaries you can rent in 4k. But everything else was just a straight up purchase. Guess it will still be a while before there are more rental options.

Hi I've just bought this tv and just had a couple of questions.
With the hdmi uhd color should this be set to on or left off as I have all my equipment running through my receiver which has 4k and hdr passthrough.
If left off will it automatically come on when a hdr source is played?
Having it on will this improve none 4k channels.

Thanks for any help I'm new to 4k and hdr.
I have a Samsung 8500 player and access to 4k Netflix and YouTube but other sources are just hd

You should turn the UHD color to ON for any input that you expect to use 4K on. I just turn it on for all my inputs. Turing it to ON allows the TV to report back to whatever device you are using that the TV is capable of 4K HDR. It won't do anything for non-4K sources - but it doesn't hurt if you have it on.

You will need to turn it on. It doesn't automatically come on. It won't have any effect on non 4k content.

Thanks to both of you for the answers I'll switch it on.
Can you point in the direction of where I can get some decent settings for the tv instead of using the settings out the box

rtings.com has some settings:
http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sam...ings?uxtv=a5bc

Otherwise you can do some searches for settings for either the KS8000 or KS9000 to get you started.

I always say - do what looks best to you. If you want to be 100% true, get a professional calibrator to come in. For me, I start with settings on sites and tweak from there.

Normal.....so tired of that word. Hope things go better for you w/ your TV.

Not sure what I will settle on.
I had the same issues with the horizontal lines moving up and down on my first purchase of this model 75KS9000
they came out to replace it because it was out of control on Marco Polo on netflix (that was the best way to demo the issue)
and the new panel is much better but had physical damage and a lot of blooming... oddly enough the blooming seems to have gone away.
But it does have the horizontal line issue but not near as bad as it used to be. and if I turn off smart LED is goes away. Honestly i can't see that Smart LED does anything worth it anyway.

Hopefully the 3rd panel (to replace the one with cosmetic damage) is decent and I can start really enjoying this TV. That said even with all the issues the TV looks amazing on all the 4K and HDR content I have thrown at it. Much improvement over my 70Inch Sharp TV.

Posted this in the wrong thread, was told to put it in this thread:

I'm getting red/blue colour separation in game mode on the KS8000. Any info on this? Rare or common issue?

I'm using UK KS8000 which is KS9000 in the USA.

This is a well-documented problem on the Samsung and Sony PS4 community websites. As of yesterday, it appears there is still no resolution for it.

Is there a way to fully reset this TV? I tried the reset in the support menu, but it keeps my network data etc.. I'd like to be able to reset this TV so that it is just like it came out of the factory.

Never mind. I was able to get into the service menu using an old Samsung TV remote. I did a factory reset hoping the TV would again properly recognize my Bell Fibe TV box. No such luck. A friend of mine has the 65" version and his sets it up correctly. My 55" used to, but it stopped a while ago. His shows the proper Bell Fibe TV icon and the TV remote is able to operate the Fibe box. Mine does not. It would be great if I could access the guide and the recordings using my TV remote like I was able to before.

Light Bleed across the bottom - Acceptable?

Had the 65ks9000 for a couple of days and noticed the light bleed across the bottom of the screen. Have changed picture settings using Avforums "best picture" settings and have since tweaked, but light bleed is always there regardless.
Can anyone advise if they have similar, is this a bad example or acceptable?
Thanks

I am thinking about purchasing one of the Samsung 4K Players. It will be either the UBD-M8500 or M9500. They are supposed to communicate with the TV and automatically adjust 4k and HDR settings for best picture, or for whatever type you are playing BluRay or DVD. Do any of you own one of these with your 9000 series and does it work as advertised. Being Samsung I doubt that it works as advertised but I am giving it a shot.
Thanks

From the photo, it appears that you have a KS9500 with a curved panel. I have a 65KS9000 with no light bleed, whatsoever.
