Can anyone please help, I still can not get arc to work
I'm using a uk hu8500 with sek3500 connecting to a yamaha ysp2500

Now I have had arc working ages back but now, try as I might I can't seem to find the magic and elusive combination of settings between the TV and the sound bar that will allow sound to go to sound bar

It no longer shows under the sound options and trying all combos if options I can think of nothing works.

Wrong forum. You will want to post over here https://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-lc...l#post53626601 and maybe in your soundbar thread to get help with your specific to your equipment.

Basically you want to make sure your HDMI is connected to the ARC port on SEK, turn on Anynet +(HDMI-CEC) in Samsung Menu, turn on HDMI-CEC in soundbar (not sure where that is in your particular bar), turn everything off, then turn TV on and then soundbar. Once everything is on you may have to go into samsung menu and choose the soundbar from speaker list.

Try turning the Samsung light logo Off at the bottom of the tv to start with.
Go to Settings>System>ExpertSettings> Light effect> OFF

Is it on all sources and videos in the dark frames ? Look and see if you are starting to have panel seperation at the bottom.
Let's try some things before we decide there is a problem.

Has anyone been able to update their KS9000 to this new firmware 1180.5 from the tv's menu?
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/ow...-tv-ks9-series

I've tried multiple times to have the tv search for a new update but it keeps saying that 1169 is the most current.
I don't mind updating the tv from a usb stick but rather not if there's a reason why the tv isn't finding it.

Projector - Sony VPL-VW665ES TV - LG OLED55C7P
UHD Player - Oppo UDP-203 Streamer - Nvidia Shield Pro TV (2017)
AVR - Yamaha RX-A3070 HDMI Cables - Audio Quest Cinnamon 2, 8, and 10 meters

I think they delay and stagger over the air updates.

This is a pretty big number jump, any ideas what it fixes?

Anyone else think that the Clear LED Motion setting is useless with these TVs? You just get a dimmer picture and a ton of double images on moving content. Not exactly the type of BFI I was expecting, despite some reviews I've read claiming that it should improve image movement blur clarity. Is it true that the ks8000 does this significantly better?

That's probably because of the edge-lit nature of the TV. I have the same problem, my other TV has the same problem, heck even my phone has the same problem. I would love to be corrected but I don't think there's anything you can do about it unfortunately, other than getting a replacement that might have less bleed or a different TV altogether (oled or one of those full array sets).

I love this TV, but I'm growing tired of setting up the remote to control the cable box nearly every day. Hopefully that gets fixed in one of these software updates soon.

So after manually updating to 1180.5 I've noticed a couple things with HDR:

- I don't get the HDR banner anymore for any service. I used to get it on Amazon and FandangoNow on Roku - HDR is still being activated (confirmed by looking at the settings)
- I'm not getting the HDR badge at all in Netflix anymore - with either the Roku or the built in app. HDR still works but the Netflix screen only shows Ultra HD 4K not HDR

Looks like this is happening across the board with all of the KS series running 1180.

Some people have reported slightly better picture quality, but I haven't noticed any changes on my KS9800.

Yeah sometimes it takes awhile for the update to get sent out so the latest one just came out on the 12th of this month so it might take sometime to get the update.

This is Not a TV Issue its most likely a issue with your Cable Provider box Again folks have to Always Remember folks PQ will always vary as well. Due to some people have the latest hardware from their TV Provider and some people will have better hardware or more up to date that works better with the TV. So First who is your TV Provider Second you need to make sure you have their latest hardware if you want to make sure to get the best results. Again this will always vary because some providers have better hardware than others..

Everyone picture quality Will Always Vary due to some people have better hardware than other it comes down to who they are using as a TV Provider. Some have better hardware than others so not every DVR or 4K Player so forth will vary but especially when it comes to TV Service not everyone is on the latest hardware from their TV Service Provider.

He's referencing people who are calibrating their displays and noticing picture quality differences between firmware revisions I believe. If you have a reference calibration tool, you can measure what each firmware does.

Yeah I have not really messed with calibrating anything so far I have been happy with the PQ my Hopper 3 works well with the TV and my Samsung 4K player and PS4 Pro all look good so far.

and the new panel is much better but had physical damage and a lot of blooming... oddly enough the blooming seems to have gone away.
But it does have the horizontal line issue but not near as bad as it used to be. and if I turn off smart LED is goes away. Honestly i can't see that Smart LED does anything worth it anyway.

Hopefully the 3rd panel (to replace the one with cosmetic damage) is decent and I can start really enjoying this TV. That said even with all the issues the TV looks amazing on all the 4K and HDR content I have thrown at it. Much improvement over my 70Inch Sharp TV.
all 4 of the TV's that I have had .. have had the SAME issue I hope its not the one connect box.. can't imagine it would be.
but I have a horizontal line especially on the upper left side of the TV that moves. It happens a lot more when Smart LED is set to high
seems like certain darkness it happens too. how is it that all four TV's have done this. I am on my last panel and I am just going to deal with it
but I can't find anyone else that has said much about it other than earlier in the forum someone had the same issue.
you can really see it happen when you are adjusting the backlight too.

Suddenly when I turn on my TV it starts with the "Set up the TV" screen that I've done a dozen times now. I can't get it to disappear when I turn on the TV.

Your smart TV went "stupid". It happens to me every time I use the my PC through my AVR video switcher. Otherwise no problem.

Same thing happened to me a couple of months ago. It worked fine for almost a year before it stopped. I had a Rogers Cable box which I could operate with the TV's remote. It also allowed me to use the guide and control the recordings on the PVR. Then one day it just stopped. I switched to Bell Fibe and the TV remote does not work with it at all and I get the same set up screen every time I switch to that input. Funny thing is my friend has the same model and the same Fibe set up and his works just fine. I just installed the new firmware btw and I still have the same issue.

Kevin,
How are you checking to see what signal you are receiving, and are able to display on the KS9000 ?
Thanks,

Previous to the 1180.5 firmware, the KS9000 would show an HDR banner that would show at the top of the screen when you watched a program in HDR from Netflix, Amazon, Fandango, etc. Now, that banner doesn't show up. So the only way to verify that the TV switched into HDR mode would either be to go into the settings and see the backlight is at 20 and the contrast is at 100.....or, select the HDMI input on the TV again so it pops up is resolution display, which should show HDR next to the resolution if it's an HDR program.

Unhappy Backlight issue

Has anyone had this issue with one section of the back light not coming on right away? a section of the bottom left is dark when I first turn on the set. So far it pops on eventually but it looks to be getting worse. Will be contacting Samsung : |
