Yes I've seen posts from other Canadians rightly complaining about that.
The UK Amazon offering doesn't contain all of the same content as the USA offering. But we have "most" of the 4k HDR titles available listed on the 4k HDR titles thread.

I know that the K8500 has the "Chroma 2020" bug (http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/dmpub...1612114390.htm), and "undefeatable noise reduction on the Cb and Cr channels" - either/both of which may have since been fixed by recent firmware upgrades.

I don't doubt what you say but how visible these would be, at 4K resolution, is where I struggle. Other than that, it's just reading data from a disc, and sending it down the HDMI cable. The expansion from YCbCr 4:2:0 (a mode that's invalid for HDMI at 24Hz) to YCbCr 4:4:4 is the only thing these players are doing which could differentiate them from one another.

(ASIDE: I really wish there had been a valid 4K24/ YCbCr 4:2:0 mode in HDMI2.0. That way all players could send the unadulterated data from the disc down the cable in that same mode, and it would not be possible to claim that one player showed a "better" picture than another!)

If they wanted to improve anything for the M9500 they should have completely replaced the remote control! I wouldn't dare to call it "much" better otherwise, personally, the remote is diabolical IMHO. I normally use my Denon's remote but that doesn't implement the "eject" function.
Get a Harmony 650 on AMZN for 30 bucks... I did!

I'm nearly 100% certain these things have been fixed with firmware 1010 or 1011. I used to see a big difference in PQ between the native apps on my TV and the apps on the K8500, but that's no longer the case. They're indistinguishable now.

Excellent, but note that the apps are not part of the firmware. The bugs are related to playing back UHD discs. What are your findings with UHD discs, specifically the ones where the effects of the bug were visible?

That's nice but nothing to do with what we were talking about: the Amazon Prime video app on Samsung's K8500 UHD Blu-Ray player. Not the KS8000 TV For the purpose of comparing with the video quality on our TV's app, which may or may not be HDR10Plus.

UHD disc playback has improved as well. I've had both the Sony X800 and the LG player for a week each, and compared numerous discs between those players and the K8500. The Sony player is lauded for its PQ, and I saw no difference when comparing it with the K8500.

I always have used samsungs eco sensor for controlling the backlight at night since my living room gets so bright during the day. This afternoon for some reason the tv is dimming when sun is shining through, like off and on. Then it suddenly goes back to normal. Wierd, tried unplugging, and did a factory reset even. Any owners that use that function ever had this happen? Never had a problem on my previous samsungs

Which picture mode are you using? I've actually had this happen on most of my Samsung tvs the past few years. It happens every once in a while. I have to touch the back light and it shoots back up to normal.

I use standard for everything. We will see if it does it again today after keeping it off all night, weird though

Give Amazon a try ("The Tick" in particular; the first episode is free, even if you aren't a subscriber) and see if you can find any sign of HDR10+. Either through notifications, or default settings that may differ from static HDR10.

Already did,it didn't trigger hdr10+,it was just HDR 1080p

Rudy1 said that Amazon might not provide any HDR10+ notification, which is kind of strange that they would refuse to do so.

The only way we might be able to tell if we are watching HDR10+ would be to check and see if the default HDR settings on the TV are different from static HDR10 content and/or if some settings are locked. Granted, this would only work if HDR10+, like DV, alters/locks some settings.

That's very interesting. Because it's been gone for a while and several firmwares, we've just assumed it was deliberate. Just to check, you are sure you have seen it on an HDMI input? (The Amazon app generates its own which wasn't removed). Thanks!

Ah right. No problem, thanks for posting back! The search goes on for what's changed, then.

Has anyone tested Game mode to see if it stores two sets of settings, one HDR/one SDR?

Updated, but haven't noticed anything different.

There's been an issue with the Vimeo app (which now supports 4K on the 2015 TVs) that the engineers at Vimeo have said requires a fix from Samsung. There doesn't appear to be a fix for that, as the app still does not work.

Just updated to version 1203.6, and yes, HDR mode again works in both CAL- NIGHT & CAL-Day, without the work-around of going to the streaming services first. I just tested it with my Oppo UDP-203 and the HDR10 indicator does indeed show in the top left hand corner for a few seconds.

Glad they're still releasing updates. Hopefully HDR10+ comes soon (or is already here...) and I'll be an even happier clam.

The GAME mode doesn't remember HDR settings, so every time you switch back and forth from HDR/non HDR game you have to adjust settings, max backlight/contrast for HDR etc.

Hmm, strange. 1203 doesn't trigger HDR notifications on my Roku. Also doesn't trigger HDR if I'm in Cal-Day/Night. Works if I'm in Standard mode.
