I am a long time owner of Samsung products but when they completely ignored the $1500 KS950 Atmos Soundbar I have, that has so much audio potential , that will sway me to other brands in the future.
As mentioned, Vanessa says the 1241.5 is not available to download. What's with Samsung? Not everyone has a capable internet connection in order to get the new updates automatically.

Try holding down the back arrow when the Netflix app is loaded to clear it.

So, have most still found that for gamma settings in movie mode, the best results are having it set to -1 for SDR and 0 for HDR content?

^Thanks!

Also anyone have a link where I can download the 1241.5 software update?

The website only has 1240 update file.

My Tv says it’s currently running on software version 1241. So does this mean it automatically via wifi did the update already or is there a 1241.5 version to download manually that’s newer??

Confused

Go to Settings, Support and Contact Samsung and it should show you have version 1241.5. If so, this means you have the software update selection in the on mode.

(Many other Samsung products also in arrears - Samsung doesn't care after 2 years, and in fact even some current products as well !)

Samsung in Europe has the 1241.5 on their download websites. Samsung NA Nada! (Problem here is, the European FW doesn't work for our sets - unlucky for those without Internet to get the auto upgrade.)

Thanks just checked it and I do indeed have 1241.5 software installed as the auto update feature was set to “on”.

I've been having to re-calibrate my set every 1 to 2 weeks. Skin colors keep shifting. Of course, it's just off extended warranty last month. Luckily, I have the double your warranty option on my MC.

I believe the MC warranty is maxed out at 24 months so not sure it will be any benefit to you?

Make sure your "Color Space" setting is not set to "Auto" by accident.

Thanks for the suggestions - will have to check into the MC warranty specs.

You're right - I've no protection now !

Extended warranty

Doubles the original manufacturer's or store brand warranty for up to one year when you pay with your eligible Mastercard.

What bugs me now is, Samsung is now offering 1 year for $199, and 2 years for $240. Will not extend my extended warranty to 2 years.

Color Space always on to calibrate.

Too many power blips this Winter ! (UPS and Command Control protection, but sometimes the UPS has been acting weird. Already swapped out one.)

It appears to be back working OK ?

Latest Chat with Samsung re the 1241.5 update USB file being posted.

Info: Thank you for choosing to chat with us. An agent will be with you shortly.

Experience the Galaxy Fold. Limited quantities available December 6th exclusively at Samsung Experience Stores across Canada. Visit Samsung.com to find the location nearest to you.
Info: You are now chatting with Steven.
Steven: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Canada support. How may I assist you today?
Peter Browne: Chatted with Vanessa a week or so ago re getting the online KS9800 Firmware updated to the current 1241.5. Said she'd move it up the ladder. Nothing been done. Meantime, all the 2015 models had their firmware updated this past week - why not the KS9800?
Peter Browne: Europe Samsung is listing it
Steven: Peter, Help me with the complete model number of the TV from its rear panel. It usually starts with UN/LN/PN/QN.

(OR)

You can find the complete model number of the TV using the below path directly on the TV.

On the TV remote, go to Home/Menu >> Settings >> Support >> Contact Samsung/ About this TV. It usually starts with UN/LN/PN/QN.
Peter Browne: UN65KS9800FXZC/ SUHD
Steven: Thank you for the model number.
Peter Browne: 1240.0 IS 2019-06-13 The new 1241.5 is Nov 2019 I believe
Steven: Let me explain you clearly.
Steven: I've checked our website and see that the latest firmware version for the Samsung TV (UN65KS9800FXZC) is version 1240.0 which is released on 2019-06-13.

Samsung has not at yet released any latest firmware version for the TV in our website.
Steven: The latest firmware version of the TV can be downloaded only if the Samsung release one in the Canada website as the specifications are subjected to change from country to country.
Peter Browne: That's why I'm asking, when will it be done. It's been posted in Europe for several months now
Steven: Samsung is working on that to release the latest firmware version for the products.
Steven: We do not have any texted information in our website about the release of latest firmware version of the TV.
Peter Browne: Update was automatically uploaded to our sets last year. Now, we require the USB version for those AVS Forum Members who don't have access to the auto update
Peter Browne: So, since our sets get updated last year, there has to be an update file!
Steven: I can certainly understand your concern.
Steven: We at technical live chat support deal with required troubleshooting steps.
Steven: Yes, the TV can be updated through USB once the latest update is released by Samsung in our website only.
Peter Browne: Members without the auto update capability are definitely upset since some members have it, others don't
Steven: I'll take this as a valuable feedback from you.
Steven: Since there is no update available in our website and the TV is with the latest firmware update for Canadian model, there is no update the TV.
Peter Browne: Vanessa was suppose to get this done, but apparently she doesn't have any sway with the upper management. So, I'm here in Canada, my set auto updated last Fall to the 1241.5, means somewhere, there's a file that did this!
Peter Browne: Does anyone on Chat actually have any clout tto get this done?
Steven: As there is no update version 1241.5 available in our Canadian website.

The only update file available in Canadian website is version 1240.0
Peter Browne: If 2015 sets can be updated this week, then the 2016 sets should surely be able to have the same
Steven: I'm afraid to inform there is no chat person to share the version 1241.5 version as the version not available in the Canadian website and we don't have any other country links to access.
Peter Browne: Samsung where does this?
Steven: The software update is subjected to change from country to country and model to model.
Steven: I'll help you with a link to check the current version available from Canadian website.
Peter Browne: Apparently then, we're at a stalemate? Already on the wwebsite
Steven: As Samsung has not yet released any update in our website, the update available in our website has only be accessed.
Steven: I think you will understand the limitations of Samsung website.
Peter Browne: Will give the bad news to our patiently waiting AVS Forum Members
Steven: Sorry to hear that from you about the product.
Steven: Could you help me with the link where the version of the TV is version 1241.5?
Peter Browne: Thanks for your time. Since appears nothing is being done from Samsung's end. Samsung on the European websites are listing it, but I'd have to go look. I have it on my TV since it uploaded last Novemver
Steven: You're welcome. Is there anything else I can assist you with?
Peter Browne: AUK only has the 1241.5 - https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/m...E88KS9800TXXU/
Peter Browne: Will have to look at other countries.
Steven: I see that the link shared is the UK link and not Canadian link.
Steven: Sorry to inform, Samsung Canada has not yet released any latest firmware version for the TV on our website to update the TV through USB.
Peter Browne: Germany also 1241.5 so I was wrong. Weird our sets automatically got it, but there's no file available for USB upgrading. Samsung appears to have fallen down on this one !
Steven: Really sorry to hear that again.
Steven: I'd have definitely helped you with a link to update with the latest firmware if available from our website.
Peter Browne: OK, thanks for your time. Hopefully with Samsung having now upgraded the 2015 sets, will now get onto doing the 2016 sets
Steven: I'll definitely take this as a valuable feedbback from you.
Steven: You're welcome. Do you have any further questions for me?
Peter Browne: Wife has a UN40J5200AFXZC that wouldn't auto update - stuck back on 1113 - had to download USB file to bring up to 1150 - hopefully this fixed something that will now all it to auto update
Steven: Are you looking for the update file for the UN40J5200AFXZC ?
Peter Browne: Already downloaded it, and I assume 1150 is current
Steven: Thank you for bringing that to our notice about the firmware update fix on other TV.
Steven: I hope the latest firmware version for the KS8600 would release to fix the issue with the TV by Samsung.
Peter Browne: OK will close now, thanks for your time, and hopefully Samsung will have some new FW for us in the next month for the KS9800
Steven: Sure, I too hope so.
Peter Browne: Thanks for your time .
Peter Browne: Not me, I'm up todate, just trying to help my fellow AVS Forum Members
Steven: Sure, thank you for bring that again to our notice for sure.
Peter Browne: OK will close now - bye
Steven: I really appreciate all your information and efforts in bringing that to our notice.
Steven: Thank you for chatting with Samsung Canada support. If you have a minute, please click on the blue (X close) button to receive the transcript of your chat and fill out a brief survey to help us serve you better.

Have a great day ahead!
Info: Thank you for chatting with us.

Addendum: Oops - wrong FW # - corrected to 1241.5 - no wonder they couldn't find it !

I wonder if there's an issue with 1241.5, and this is why it hasn't been released to the websites in NA. (Still being listed in Europe)

Since this doesn't affect the HDR, have only calibrated HDMI 4's SDR settings. (Note: At this stage of the game, HDR values rarely change)
Main reason was to flatten out the 5,15, 25, 35, 45, 55, 65, 75, 85 and 95 settings.
Compared to my old HU9000 + SEK-3500U that had many issues for the in between points, the KS9800 had very little tweaking changes, except for 95%, which had a large spike. 21 Point now ruler flat. (0.2)

This was the resulting settings now calibrated with the new software and signal generator.
p5browne, I have been using these settings for a while now...………….they look good.

Thanks - if you have a correct 10 Point, then the 21 Point comes in pretty close without worrying about tweaking.
Have re-calibrated, and new calibration does not have the 95% issue. Once fine tuned, will post new settings.
Problems for doing this comes down to wife going, or not going to bed early, and whether I have appointments externally or internally the next day, so I can stay up late. (Usual calibrations last to about 3 AM.)

Just started looking for the VUDU App - TV says `Not Found' - has this been removed from the App options?

Found the answer:

Unfortunately, Vudu does not currently work in Canada. Vudu service is only available in the United States.

For my KS9800, I Just purchased a Panasonic UB420 4K player to replace an aging and problematic Sammy K8500 player. The 420 has a built-in Tone Mapping feature ( that I am totally unfamiliar with) and it is suggested that if your display has this feature, to turn it off to keep the possibility down for potential conflict by having both features mapping at the same time. Does the KS9800 have such a feature and if so, which setting does it fall under?

There's no tone mapping feature you can turn off on the KS9800 and that feature on the player is mostly for projectors so just turn it off there and ull be fine.
