No. The TV does the switching automatically. If you're asking about which settings to use, Movie SDR or Movie HDR, the answer is both. Since SDR and HDR modes have their own settings you'll have to set your settings for both.

1242.0 Calibrations for HDMI 4 (Partial) USB/APP (Full) and HDMI 1 HDR

Hoping these work OK with some Members sets.
Note on the HDMI 4, Members have mentioned that my old 10 Point settings are still working for them.
Thanks to Member who pointed out my HDMI 1 SmartLED error - now corrected.

I wonder if ppl actually do A/B testing and see if P5's settings are actually better or just think whatever settings anyone comes up with most big settings being the same then anything looks good cuz its just a great set to begin with and cuz FW 1241 really kicked the PQ up a notch.
Also wonder if ppl actually use different settings for different sources or just use one for all?
And do ppl keep up with changing their settings with P5 every other week or every month and so on?
I personally have tried his movie mode settings once or twice but went bk to Auto as one I do most of my HDR viewing in Cal Night mode and two, I could not really tell much difference and three, I just think Auto settings already look killer and identical in colors etc. to whats shown in dolby cinemas and things like flesh tones etc never look wrong or anything.
PS, spring is almost here so these settings wont last even a week hehe.

No OTA upgrade available for my set, so did the USB Flashdrive upgrade.
Thanks for the heads-up, just downloaded v1242 on a USB and updated.

I have been using P5's settings for some time now. They have always shown improvement on my 9800, that are liked by my eyes. I gotta admit that Auto colorspace still looks good but on my set, his Custom settings just look better to me. It all comes down to what I perceive as looking correct on my display, so i'll stick with them until some settings come along that I think looks better.

My room during the Winter is typically around 62 degrees. Come hot Summer, this will be up in the higher 70's, possibly a few (Getting more with Climate chance) days in the 80s. Temperature affects the settings. Yes I have central AC but it doesn't really do too much for my room up on the 3rd floor.
Now my JU7100 in the basement, once a year tweak because it's usually in mid 60s to mid 70's, and doesn't change much.

Problem is the skin tones - if they look off, time to re-calibrate. Plus any FW updates, which I assume 1242.0 will be our last ?

I'm not sure if you found your answer about TVPlus but I just saw this article that says that it is only available on 2017 smart TVs and newer in Canada.

Curious, are you running factory settings on everything else or is your set calibrated.

Standard, Movie or Cal Night?
Sdr settings can be applied to either movie mode or cal night mode with cal night having better blacks. And Cal night mode does not work in HDR anymore. So either Standard mode or Movie mode, max out settings for HDR with Warm 1 and no SOE... all 4 modes look excellent - Sdr Movie, Sdr Cal Night, HDR movie and HDR Standard.

Thanks I check on Cal Night often and could never get it to kick in since about a year or more. Oddly enough I watched a 4k Hdr movie just last evening and Cal Night kicked in. To make sure I wasn't mistaken, i switched modes several times while the movie was playing, between Movie and Cal Night and it changed correctly each time. Have not checked it today though.

Checked Cal Night HDR again this morning using a different disc (Midway 4K) and it switched between Cal Night & Movie mode perfectly. Only drawback I can see is, it looks as though Cal Night uncalibrated in HDR, does something wonky with contrast. Maybe 1242 fixed Cal Night, idk.

EDIT:When I made the assumption that Cal Night HDR was doing something wonky with contrast, I had switched over to the ATV 4K momentarily and this is where I saw the strange contrast blowout. When switching back to my Panny UB420 player, contrast on the disc (Midway 4K) looked ok. It looks like the ATV did something with contrast that just didn't look right. Highlights and shadow detail looked blown-up.

You do realize Warm1 CANNOT be calibrated to spec?
Leads to elevated 2 and 10 Point , plus CMS.
In addition, this leads to your set emitting extra Blue light which is bad for your health !

haha good thing I dont calibrate then as warm 2 crushes pretty much half the picture quality across the board. Try telling blue light is bad to ppl watching in Cool mode lols.

So, you're giving advice to Members that is wrong, and now we find out your don't even calibrate your own set ! (or have it professionally calibrated)
A properly calibrated set does not have crushed pics, instead looks great on this TV. Even better with the last couple of FW updates.
Yet you want to exaggerate everything by using Warm 1 - which is probably a step away from using Dynamic settings!
To each their own, but don't preach like your settings are gospel and look fantastic, to other Members who are looking for the real, natural looking, calibrated look !

Haha you are silly... since when is default settings wrong? And I never said I calibrated my set and in fact said everything is on AUTO (meaning its not Custom, meaning its not calibrated) and yes the TV does looks fantastic. You are the one who have to calibrate the set every other day and still cant get it correct

And no matter how much you calibrate ur pq, warm 2 will always darken the colors but that's a personal preference.
Exaggerate everything by using Warm 1? Not sure what you mean by that... but really a step away from Dynamic Settings lols wow now that is exaggerating!

PS: This is a free forum to preach whatever you want. Like you preaching every one of your sources have different picture and guess we all gotta live with that.

To bad. It would be an eye opener to you to at least get it calibrated at least once - else wise you don't know what you're missing with this set.

And it was broke again yesterday. Oddly it was 2 days after I installed 1242.

Note on the HDMI 4, Members have mentioned that my old 10 Point settings are still working for them.
Thanks to Member who pointed out my HDMI 1 SmartLED error - now corrected.
Many thanks! Do you have the settings for HDMI 1 in SD?
You're the best!

As I can't speak for @p5browne , try the settings he posted. They work good for me across the board on all inputs and I prefer keeping it as simple as possible.

Unfortunately, I've become totally addicted to 21 Point grayscale from my Lumagen VQ for HDMI 4.
Due to the settings in the Lumagen being setup for HDMI 4, I can't use it as a source to calibrate HDMI 1. OK for 2 Point and CMS.
HDMI 1 is for my 4K Blu-ray player where only HDR settings need be calibrated since it only plays 4K UHD BDs. (Normal BDs look OK to me.)
As other Members have mentioned, my old settings seem to be working OK for them. Being a PQ freak, my set gets re-calibrated every other week, and yes, the values do change. Week to week, probably a change of dE 1.0 or less. When it annoys me, it gets re-calibrated!
Supposedly, the average person can't see any difference below a dE of 3. Myself, a big dif from my original dE 0f 0.3 to 0.2, and times 0.1. Hence, keeping my set up to snuff all the time.
My wife on the other hand, if it has color and makes noise, it's fine, leave it alone Had to reset her living room TV due to hub issues, and there went the previous calibration. Due to her now having to work from home, no chance to re-calibrate. Do I see a difference - yes. Her - No.

NOTE: DO NOT use my USB/APPs settings for HDMI - totally different !

For BD movies in SD (not HDR) should I use your HDMI 4 settings?
