FW 3.3.18.1 has several bugs that should be addressed with the next update.
I'm having that issue across all three. It always goes back to my last setting.

I also noticed that HDR10 from Amazon streamed through my UHD player doesn't send the metadata needed to kick up the Backlight, while the discs do.

In the grand scheme of things, if all I have to do is adjust the Backlight, I'm ok and the rest of the family won't notice.

Also, The Tick from Amazon is beautiful with these settings.

Awesome!! Our 2nd home is just south of Myrtle Beach, SC in Murrells Inlet; love the Carolina beach areas (except for potential hurricanes like next weekend)

We have a second home in North Myrtle Beach. We love heading down to Murrells Inlet. Drunken Jack's is a a favorite place, and we also visit Huntington Beach State Park a lot.

Fantastic! Thanks...

Is it fair to apply the HDR10 settings to DV and expect similar PQ?

Great to hear!! We were at Dead Dog Saloon last night for a great Stones cover band "Satisfaction"

Went with 2 other couple and had great time, low humidity & high 70s at night. Also owned a 3 Bedrm Condo for 7 years off 48th Ave North in Myrtle, sold last Sept; was rented out by 2 year rental after we purchased the Inlet

I Zillow'ed Murrells Inlet. Pretty good pricing! Might have to take a gander south. My wife is interested in Topsail Beach, but we're open to everything.

I had my TV calibrated with a firmware version or two back ... I now see that both Dolby Vision and HDR10 have different color tables.

Would the same settings carry over, or would the adjustments potentially be slightly different? I was able to do so for DV (through netflix) - is there any streaming of HDR10 that I can do to go ahead and copy over the settings for that?

Color behaviors have changed with FW 3.3.18.1. Enough so that I felt the need to run a new calibration. I would recommend writing down your current SDR calibration settings and then trying mine. The same goes for DV and HDR-10. For HDR-10 streaming, play the second listing of Meridian in Netflix.

The calibration settings that The Coolest posted are specifically for an M60 IPS panel and probably won't look that great on a VA panel such as your M55. You will have better results with my M70 settings. The link is below on the bottom right of my signature.

I need help with HDR10 calibration. I tried using a Sony X800 player, playing a 4k movie but the color table didn't clear out for me to enter the HDR 10. Please what am i missing ?

I think that the X800 can also play DV? Try a different 4K movie that you know is only HDR-10. The HDR10 signal should kick the TV into HDR10 mode. At that point, you should be able to enter those settings.

Thanks will try that later today. Unfortunately the X800 cant do DV yet, Sony hasnt mentioned if it'll get the DV update or not.

Sadly Vizio customer service reps say that they don't see any problem. I've attached to more photos that seem to illustrate the problem better than my last two. I was wondering if you had any advice on what color setting I could try to tweak to help mitigate the issue. The problem really only happens when playing HDR content. I know you won't be able to see exactly what's going on through pics on the computer but perhaps you could point my in the right direction. Thanks for the help you've offered so far!

Something is up with the latest software release for the M80-D3 release 3.3.18.1. All of the sudden I am getting the Soap Opera Effect and it is nasty. I cannot Reduce Judder. It is stuck on 10.

Any ideas?

I have the same TV, try doing full reset and report back. This should always be done anytime new firmware is updated.

There are bugs with 3.3.18.1. Before Matt McRae left Vizio, he indicated that there was another update coming soon that would be the actual wide release update. That update would also have HDR on the Amazon app. So here we are . . . . kind of in limbo as to what's going on.

A full reset may fix your issue. I found that the Reduce Judder setting was greyed out using the Smartcast mobile app. I pulled up the on-screen menu and was able to adjust that way.

I guess another question is, who's going to take over for Matt and this beta program that we all have helped with, someone has to continue it...

If they ( Vizio ) recognized the value of what Matt was doing with everything, including the beta program, I would expect they would have a replacement ASAP. Crickets so far .. . . .

FYI, I have a Sony X800 -- connected through a Denon X3300 AVR -- and was able to enter all of @sonoftumble 's settings for HDR10 using the player. Make sure the Vizio display is receiving the HDR10 signal by pressing the INFO function on the Vizio's remote -- it should show 2160p and HDR10 at the top of your display after you start playing a UHD disc.

Thanks Scott, there's definitely something wrong with my setup then. I'm thinking maybe the cables, i just ordered a pair of premium certified hdmi cables so ill try when i get home later today. Initially when i played the movie the TV was showing 1080p and then i changed the output resolution on the Sony to 4K and the TV was showing 2160p, i cant remember if it was showing HDR, but based on what you wrote it must not have been.

If you don't mind me asking what 4K movie were you playing ?

I used the UHD disc from The Fifth Element, but all 24 UHD titles in my collection show up properly as HDR10 when I play them. FYI, I have my Sony player's resolution set to 4K, as I am letting it handle all the upconversion -- it does a better job with SD-DVDs than the Vizio, and it's indistinguishable between the two for 1080p content.

Make sure you are playing the UHD disc and not the Blu-ray from whatever title you try -- I have made the mistake of grabbing the wrong disc a couple of times. Good luck!

Make sure you are playing the UHD disc and not the Blu-ray from whatever title you try -- I have made the mistake of grabbing the wrong disc a couple of times. Good luck!
Thanks i played Fantastic beasts and i think it was the UHD disc but ill double check tonight and try my other UHD discs. I initially set my Sony to 4K but i have a 1080p projector so for ease of use its was better for me to leave it on auto. However ill set the Sony to 4K when i attempt the HDR calibration tonight thanks again.

@Scott M there's something weird going on I tried 3 UHD discs and the sony just shows 1080p, Vizio as well. i've changed the display resolution to 4k but its still showing 1080p. DId you change any settings on your x3300 or sony?

Or do i have a defective Sony X800

I'll ask on the Sony X800 thread in case someone else has gone through something similar.

Question Vizio M Series 2016 vs 2017

Vizio is offering to replace my 2016 M65-D0 with a 2017 M65-E0 or another 2016 M65-D0 (though this will be my 3rd M65-D0 unit in less than a year due to various technical issues, so I have a negative impression of it overall)

I know this is a nearly impossible question to answer, but which one is "better"? I understand the M65-E0 now has WCG, but lost the 120hz native panel, 1/2 of the dimming zones, and the low lag gaming HDMI 5 input. I'm concerned about judder and motion blur with the 2017 M65-E0 with the 60hz native panel, and the gaming lag as well.

I primarily use the unit for gaming with my Xbox One S and watching TV/movies, but have admittedly not messed much with the HDR yet because after I purchased the unit, I read the HDR is somewhat useless without the WCG.

I also tried offering to "buy-up" and pay Vizio the price difference between the M series and P series to get a P series as a replacement, but they said they are not allowed to do that. I realize now that I should have waited for the P series, but that's another conversation for another day.

I'm clearly way out of my element here and appreciate any advice, comments, or knowledge you have to share. Thanks!

I do not have anything unusual setup on either the Denon X3300 or Sony X800. I have the Denon setup to just pass the 4K signal through (I/P Scaler = OFF), and the Sony's screen settings are pretty standard, as follows:

HDR Output = Auto
Display Type = TV
Output Resolution = 4K
24p Output = Auto for UHD discs
4K Upscaling = Auto2 (really irrelevant with output resolution set to 4K)
3D Output = Off
Everything else is set to Auto

Not sure if you mentioned this, but are you using certified high speed HDMI cables? The certified part is very important. I am using Monoprice's certified cables, which are quite inexpensive -- a 3 foot cable is less than $5.

Thanks thats pretty much how mine is setup. I dont live in the US so i use a freight forwarder to get all my stuff. I ordered some extra Monoprice premium certified HDMI cables but delivery has been delayed because of Harvey. My wife just came back from the UK so i ordered this

It's usually recommended to transport the displays standing up. Is it possible to do that in your truck?

Good luck -- be safe.

Negative. Its a quad cab Nissan Frontier and we have pets. It wont even get in the door, maybe if I didnt package it at all. Just wondering. We have insurance that would cover any damage at home. Actually I better check on that because of the whole "act of god"disclaimer insurance companies have.
