Ouch. Well I suppose it helps that I only play single player games on it and do all the MP FPS games on my office PC. Definitely going to try putting local dimming to low to test it out and likely feel foolish for not doing it sooner!

I did ultimately end up buying the Z9D as it is quite good in the blacks department. What really won me over though is the 75" screen size for under 10k

Defo a shocker!!!! Are you prepared to spend some extra cash now? The new Oppo player, or the upcoming Sony one? Perhaps Chromecast Ultra? It keeps on mounting...

What I respect is the fact that the Z remains the flagship, just as they promised at launch.

Most likely just a x940d with Dolby Vision support and a faster SoC. They did say Z9D is still their flagship model.

My guess is the update will come with Android 7.0 which is supposed to natively support DV.

I believe 93E and 94E are both slim backlight.

Separately can I ask, does the Z9D have the same smearing issue that the 940D has?

With this Z9D Dolby Vision info, and the smearing issues on my 940D, I'm looking at options.

The Sony rep said that the Z has the best PQ in their entire lineup, including the new Oled's.

The only real drawback with the Z are the viewing angles.

Yeah, can't wait for the update. Given that HDR10 on the Z looks better than DV on any 2016 LG Oled, it will probably look fantastic as it's a dynamic and scene by scene format.

Lol, Sony going DV will have some BB salesmen swallowing hard! Just about a month ago, I was at BB and one salesman repeatedly insist there was no practical difference between HDR10 and DV and that is why Sony didn't and never would include DV in their TVs. I asked him why then there is a dynamic version of HDR 10 on the way. He still wouldn't budge. If I see him in there again, I'm going to call him on this.

Yeah I can imagine some red faced backtrack but I'm sure they'll find a way around it lol. I find 99.9% of salesman has absolutely poor knowledge of the more intermediate techs in the TVs they're selling, which is very disappointing. Anyway this is good news for everyone, DV would get more mainstreamed this way and us customers enjoy the most benefit.

Glad to hear that the Z will get DV update. This cements it as the premier TV on the market. I was happy enough with the dynamic hdr10 update.

The only bummer is that I plunged on the Panasonic UB900 (hefty price also) so I'd love to hear news that it will somehow be able to play DV content once it makes it on UHD discs.

It appears the Z9 may be the last 3D display from a mainstream vendor (I'm excluding HiSense).

Have any of you compared 3D on the Z9 to the 940D and passive 3D on LG or Sony 4k TVs?
