M55-D0, M55-E0,

E75-E1, E75-E3,
E80-E3, E80u-D3.

This will be a time-sensitive Message Thread per Firmware release.

There will be some overlap whenever Vizio releases a new Firmware,
so there will be a mix of owners on the older and new Firmware.

I'll then start a new Message Thread for any new Firmware release.
Over the few weeks when most owners will be off of the older, previous
Firmware, that Message Thread should not continue with posts.

Please jump-in to post any concerns with this latest firmware.

Please, only post if you are an owner or the main caretaker of a Vizio
TV or Display with the above-mention Firmware number.

If posting or replying about an issue, please post your Model Series
as listed in this post.

This first post here may be edited in the future with updated info,
so perhaps you may wish to bookmark it.

Thank you.

Vizio's 2.2.7.4 Firmware Page for Your Model (Does not include the Special Beta 3.0.6.4).

Main Concerns That I'm Aware of:

a) Motion Issues*.
b) Scene Flashing.
c) ALZ 'Pulsing' being reported by some owners.

@Matt McRae

* Motion Issue Update Oct 28, 2016

By Casting a YouTube Judder Test Video, I notice that Judder 10 is the same as either 1 or perhaps 0. The maximum Reduce Judder is setting is therefore 9, at least with my P50-C1.

The higher the Reduce Judder setting, the more video tearing/distortion/missing parts of fast moving objects, from what I see in this Judder Test Video. A setting of 1 or 2 is best. A compromise setting of 4 is another choice. The setting of 0 has the shakiest and finer image-trailing type artifacts.

Whenever the Motion/Judder problem shows up, and if GLL On is used, even though Reduce Judder slider is grayed-out, it is still active with it's last setting value, which can be changed by tapping in between the slider and its value setting.

Clear Action: If using this feature, it's probably for gaming and sports, but to me, it's ugly for series and movie watching. Using this for shows/movies only exaggerates the multi-ghost-like trailing of people and all other fast-moving objects.

I did not get around to further investigate the on-again/off-again Judder/Motion Issue last night. Next week.

YouTube Judder and other Test/Calibration Videos links for Casting, to be added soon.

My tablet just rebooted, I am assuming new firmware. No black flashes on PS4 so far, will keep an eye out for them

Not really. My Tabby had been rebooting almost daily a bit ago, but in recent weeks, the reboot frequency has slowed down. Reboots don't necessarily mean new Firmware.

There's probably new Firmware coming from Vizio in November. However, I don't think it addresses any of the issues I mentioned in the first post.

Definitely motion blur on my P50-C1. Not sure when it started, but seems to be worst with the latest firmware update.

Definitely noticed motion-related issues on my M70-D3 as well. Not on all content though. Some shows have severe motion issues during the ENTIRE show, some shows exhibit motion-related issues just during certain parts and yet other shows don't exhibit any motion-related issues.

In the M-Series thread, I posted about "jerkier" motion immediately after the 2.2.7.4 firmware update. At the time, I had only owned by M70 for a week or 2 and was still keeping a close eye on things - and like I said I noticed the difference immediately - in general, things just weren't as smooth as they were before the update.

I made some videos of 2 shows that I *really* notice motion issues - during the entire show (Gold Rush and The Wire). However, I did not watch these shows before the firmware update, so I can't say for sure if these particular shows had such bad motion before the update or not - but I definitely never had these motion issues on other TVs.

Actually, in a little bit, I'll test the same shows on a few different LCD TV's in the house - but I never had any motion issues like this on the 55" Vizio M3D550SL set that was my main TV before upgrading to the 70" M70-D3. I still have that 55" Vizio (and it still works perfectly), so I'll test the exact same content on that TV (and at least one other LCD TV) a little later today.

What's really interesting is that when I cast the same episode of The Wire via the HBO Go application, I have no motion issues. However, I get a Vertical Frequency of 60 when watching via my Verizon FIOS On-Demand (where I do get the motion issues) and I get a Vertical Frequency of 30 when casting it via the HBO Go application. Not sure if that it just a coincidence or if it's meaningful to this problem.

Will post a follow-up later today after I test the same content on other LCD TV's in the house...

@CleCakYngMfd - thank you for starting this thread after my input was apparently not wanted in the P-Series thread. Never been on a forum where only owners of a certain device were allowed to post in certain threads... Very "close minded", in my opinion. I can understand not wanting owners of other sets to come to the thread saying "your TV sucks, my TV is awesome", but that is obviously not the case for all non-owner posts!

Well, I had my M70-D3 exchange delivered today and while I haven't had any time to watch anything on it yet, I noticed right away that it's at firmware level 1.1.12.2 - sounds pretty old... So before I turn it off and let it update the firmware, I'll make sure to test some of the same content that I had issues with before the exchange, on firmware 2.2.7.4.

Will report my findings....

FYI - even on this old firmware (1.1.12.2), both The Wire and Gold Rush still look horrible from a motion aspect (when played via cable).

I think that I've decided to just return the M70-D3 for a refund and go with something else - the exchange unit still has the banding-while-panning issue and I just can't accept that. I think Ill be trying a Samsung KS-8000 next (I want an edge-lit display since they don't seem to have he banding issue in my experience). I'll gladly trade the deep blacks for no banding.

Hi again, JT.

Look at it this way. I imagine, especially with this HUGE Thread, that one or more complained to the Moderator of lots of posts who may have been 'shopping' and some to 'rag' on about the Displays. I can see where a person may want to purchase, and it's quite inviting to inquiry an Owner's Thread for info, but I can see why it should be just for Owners, also.

I assume there are other Message Threads for potential owners or someone can start one if none exist. (Check first for any existing Thread.)

Please don't feel slighted, as some forums out there in InterNut Land are more relaxed and run the forums their own way and here things need to be run tighter, as this AVS Forum is HUGE with a KaBoomGillion posts.

I would like to have the Forum software setup for sub-Threads, where under this main 2016 P-Series Thread for example, would be other Threads, like for Gamers, PC Gamers, Shoppers, Streamers, TV-Tuners, etc. Or it could be a select choice like a Forum Settings, where you click which the above categories you want including in the main Thread, thus all those posts show up. If you didn't click on Gamers and Shoppers, these posts won't show up in the Thread according to your preferences. Don't pay any attention... It was just me thinking.

Oh, I date-upped the first post with Vizio's Firmware and Model Info.

I noticed that the M70-D3 wasn't listed in the list of sets that this firmware applies to. I did get 2.2.7.4 on my M70-D3.... Just an FYI in case it was missed.

It's interesting... I just went to the firmware page for the M70-D3 (still version 2.2.7.4), and here are the models that it applies to (which are completely different from the models you have listed):

Apparently, there is different firmware for different sets within the same "series"??? Not really sure...

These are all -D3/-E3 sets - which I *thought* were the 2016 Series 4k sets? I'm confused now! :-) Also, this firmware doesn't include any P?? models!

I'd like to chime in on the motion issues. I see it most flagrantly in Overwatch on the PS4. It's a double-image effect and it's ugly. It's akin to the issues that cropped up when the P-Series first came out.

One step forward, two steps back...

I updated the Model List.

It's strange, because when entering a Model, it spits-out the Model you have and bunch of others, though not all. I did a search on the Firmware Number, and supposedly, all Models involved are then listed.

Wait 2.6.2 doesn't fix the HDR10 on Xbox One S gaming? I still don't see anything related to HDMI-ARC audio lag? Is this just never going to be fixed?

My guess is, I don't think the posted 2.6.2 Firmware List is a complete list of everything.

This is Matt's Tweet on Oct 24th:

"Update on Xbox firmware... in house and working.
Team is doing regression testing and PQ/performance tuning.
Will keep updating you.
"

Looks to be 2-to-4 weeks, maybe a bit quicker. Matt will post an update on
how it's going next week or weekend.

How does it look if Reduce Noise/Block are both OFF, GLL OFF, Clear Action is OFF, and Judder is 1?

I don't have Motion Blur, so if you do, you may want to tinker with that.

Someone needs to reach out to this high-level contact at Vizio and have them put some work into getting CEC to work properly. Doesn't work with my Apple TV 4.

Is Vizio able to update the firmware for Auto HDR detect similar to the Samsung models so you don't need to turn on subsampling?

The 2274 Firmware has an improvement for HDR-10. It's already there for HDMI devices. I think HDR-10 comes later for non-HDMI streaming.

M55-D0 has left side if image cut off alert 2.2.7.4 update

My M55-D0 has just been updated automatically to firmware 2.2.7.4. After the update the left edge of the image is cut off by about 2". It does this on all sources including Cast if the Picture Mode is set to Calibrated or Calibrated Dark. Any other Picture Mode it is not cut off. I called Vizio Support and they are sending me new set. While support has been great this is will be the fourth M55-D0 I have had since I purchased early this September. The first two were bad right out of the box(brand new not open box) from Best Buy. This current one has been working perfectly for the last two month until the 2.2.7.4 firmware update. All three were completely different issues. My set has always been on UPS conditioned power so it is not a power issue. I am attaching two images as an example one with the picture set to Calibrated and the other Vivid so you can see what I am talking about. While the company support has been great, have just lost all confidence in Vizio quality control.

Harmony 890 Remote
X10 Commander Iphone App = full control of lights, fireplace, pool, shades, from Iphone

Same issue here, should be caused by the firmware I guess
