A Message Post from Matt McRae:

New Beta Firmware!

For both The P-Series and M-Series!*

(For those that sent in serial numbers...)

I am in the process of enabling 3.0.10.7 which is our latest beta firmware. This is likely our (near) last test code but I want to get it out early to everyone for the weekend for testing. There are a couple of known regressions which I will describe but those are already fixed for what we hope is final code next week. However, we (VIZIO and you) may find a couple more that we will squash before final release.

Notes:

_1. Instances of green flash or other synch artifacts have been removed
_2. Audio issues when re-synch or switch inputs fixed
_3. Fixed color wash out issue on Component input
_4. Fixed auto brightness control during HDR playback
_5. Fixed looping on DirecTV Now
_6. Final fixes for P50 backlight flicker (Pj: There's a report the flicker is back)
_7. Fixed black out experienced with Playstation 4
_8. New OOBE implementation
_9. Fixed play/pause behavior for OK button on playback
10. Substantial improvement on Xbox OneS black out issues
11. Fixes to WIFI drop outs in Quick Start mode
12. CEC/ARC improvements
13. Fixed signal drop outs on some UHD bluray players
14. Fixed gamma swap
15. Other PQ fine tuning
16. Numerous other low level improvements

One #10 , as I mentioned earlier... the Xbox OneS is periodically sending Null packet floods that is causing a resynch. We have improved this significantly but a total fix is on Microsoft side and they are working on a new firmware to fix issue (we have tested it and confirmed it works - it just needs to go through their QA and release process).

There are a couple of regressions we are working on. One to note is that YouTube will lose AV sync if you trick mode (FF or rewind). Restarting the stream fixes it... a fix is already patch in for next week's release.

Normally we would run this through final QA and release in the next couple of week's as a final drop. but I know there are many that wanted to get these fixes ASAP. So we are releasing it now and expect a final release very soon.

Happy testing. Please report any new issues and we will work to fold in improvements as time permits to this final release.

Thanks everyone.

Matt

Vizio is great, they really deliver a lot for the money. I scored my M60-D1 for $623.99 after a price match with 10% cash back for my daughter's college on the full price and then got a price match + 2% to Costco's Christmas Sale ($799.99).

My budget was really for the D60-D1, Walmart here was advertising them on Black Friday for $398.99; but it was actually a D60n-D3 which is nothing to brag about. I'd say it's a nice TV for the price, but not great.

I am thrilled and the kids are glued to this new set (we had an older Sony 46", maybe close to 10 years old).

Thanks

@Matt McRae

Would love to beta test the firmware on my P55-C1. I have an Xbox one S and a Shield TV!

Thanks!

Vizio needs a REAL beta process, like Apple does where you can signup online and opt-out at will. Sending my SN via PM to McRae weeks ago yielded no result.

@Matt McRae UPDATE:

I did a full service reset, and my situation improved somewhat.

What's fixed:
-Color Balance is now correct and not green/yellow anymore.
Gamma at 2.2 is correct.

What's not fixed:
-Vizio still flashes and goes wonky on start up and lasts for about 20 seconds, I think you called it syncing errors. This can also cause a random flash every now and then.

New Problems
-Active Zone dimming is totally bonkers now as other people have noticed, it's both too slow and too "pumpy" making HDR video hard to digest.
-Default Brightness setting (on Cal and Cal Dark) has been elevated by 3 clicks. What was set correctly at "50" must now be set at "47" or else you'll be seeing below black information.

Yeah I dialed the brightness down a little too - we're talking about this in the Owners' thread, the image is very 'milky' now and something's off with the FALD code - you can see it easily by moving the brightness slider left and right, there are thick vertical pillars that dim or illuminate, very clumsy.

Does anyone know if the audio-drops are fixed in the latest Beta?

I get silence or medium-pitched buzzing when it happens and have to
go to another active Input and back to retrieve the audio.

I've kept my Display on continuously to decide if I want 3.0.10.7 or not.

It was a deal of a lifetime for me really.

I started shopping at Jet.Com. I have UPromise and their mastercard.

I hope they last.

I bought 2 months (7 cases each) of dog and cat food shipped cheaper than locally and I got 10% cash back.

The UPS guy said he doesn't know how online stores do this stuff.

Has anyone notice a change to that black levels when casting? I tried casting Star Trek Beyond from vudu last night and the black bars were much brighter(almost gray) than they were on 2.2.4.7, hopefully this is just a bug, and not an intentional change.

I saw a post in the Main 2016 P-Series Thread that said they took Brightness down to 47. It's the 'new 50' for the moment.

My quick review on P65.

Amazon HDR on xbox one S and Forza 3 looked great, wasn't washed out like on 2.2.7.4 after I closed out of them I had a green bar on the left side of Display.

I'm in the preview on xbox and have the Blu Ray setup to Bit Stream, and didn't get any audio (Onkyo 616) Cast app said it was playing in Stereo when playing UHD. When I cast from Vudu or used Amazon on xbox App would show Dolby D/Dolby D+ Ect.

Seems like FALD is not working right, xbox dash where should of been black had a like a red/purple hue to it.

The black bars when watching items are no longer Black and also have a brighter line going down the middle of the screen.

I'll do some more testing later.

@Matt McRae I know there's more issues with the XBox, but this is what I noticed since I installed the new update running on my preview xbox 1s

1. the snow static screen now includes a green bar on the left, it does however disappears after 2-3 seconds vs before update I have to change input or power cycle. There's also a warning from the XBox when the screen comes back that mentions HDMI handshake issues
2. random black out continues, tried the xbox hdmi cable and the hdmi cable from the vizio m, same issue
3. audio skip out persist, but not as frequent
4. HDR on the new Amazon app looks fantastic on the Xbox One S
5. slight delay with games on HDR?

I am going to do a service reset and see if it fixes these issues

Epson 2040 - Sony DN1060 - Klipsch(C/F/R) - Xbox One + Kinect
Vizio M65-D0 - Vizio SB3830 - Xbox One S
Vizio E55-E2 - Sony DH550 - Klipsch (C/F) - Xbox One S

When reporting on Beta Firmware Problems, I'd suggest getting Matt's attention:

Just plainly type-in this on the first line of your post:

@Matt McRae

When posted, it'll turn into a gold-colored link and gets Matt's "Attention with a Mention."

For those that posted already, just Edit your Post to add the above.
