I'm guessing a Vizio M series will outperform this TCL P series. And the Vizio P will be substantially better. Any specific reason to go with the TCL instead?

Lucky you man! Sony X900E is the best bang for your buck TV of 2017!

We can't really know anything until someone gets the new TCL actually in their hands to take some measurements and make comparisons. I have a Vizio P55 right now but I'm going to pick up one of these TCLs when it releases and compare side by side because I'd prefer the Roku OS, and it's quite a bit cheaper.

Well it turns out that i can´t send Pms for now either, so for the people interested, look in the HDTV.COM.PL forum in TCL section.

I'm sorry to dissapoint you but P60 in US is completely different series than P60 in EU. P60 in Europe is more like S series in US.

- Upscaling Super Resolution Ex
- Viewing angle 178º/178º
- No HDR

S78 series: - WCG 130% RGB

Guy above said the P series in germany isnt the same one the states is getting. I sure hope that is correct, because 340 nits is garbage for HDR.

There's a 'Xclusive X1' model, the U65S9906,
65", Curved, QuantumDot, HDR10, 1000 nits.

And the S88 series, Curved, QuantumDot, 400 nits, doesn´t mention HDR though and both are 3D.
Could these be P60 US models?

Yes, for non dark room viewing that won't deliver impressive HDR. Unfortunately I think less than 400 nits is where the P series will end up. TCL "bragged" about 400 nits peak for their C series in a video.

I don't understand why it is so hard to increase the nits. LEDs are really cheap. 800 lumen light bulbs are $2.

TCL also said the P series would be one of the brightest Dolby Vision sets this year, so unless they were blatantly lying then it's gotta have decent brightness, like somewhere between the 2017 Sonys and the 2017 LG OLEDs, right?

Maybe i'm being too pessimistic but "one of the brightest Dolby Vision sets doesn't include the high-end Sony DV upgradable sets (930 et al) which were not announced at the time of TCLs statement. I think they are talking about the LG and Visio sets, which are not very bright.

Well if it's as bright as Vizio and LG then that's good enough for me, since a Vizio P Series is way more expensive

Looks like it's now on amazon, although says "Usually ships within 2 to 3 months." .... Let's hope that's not actually true.... Somebody there says it has 600 nits. Anyone seen a review?

No reviews yet but if you just go back a few posts in this thread imagic has posted a few numbers already.

Actually sorry, that's in the other TCL thread, I didn't realize which one I was in!

Folks, if you haven't seen it yet, @imagic just posted his first look for the TCL 55P607 and the specs so far look absolutely amazing for this price. Go read it: https://www.avsforum.com/tcl-55-p-ser...07-first-look/

Just ordered mine last night. Replacing my ~8+ Year old 65" LG Plasma. I know Plasma is a big thing for many, but personally I'm ready to be rid of the image burn in's. (temporary as they might be). I do a lot of gaming and end up with too much of the constants in the game burnt in while then trying to watch a movie or TV. I debated back and forth too long on ordering mine and just barely missed out on it being in stock (they had 3, then 2, then 1... then None and I still ordered! So now mine says shipping in 2-3months. I'm hoping it will actually be sooner than that but I should have it before Forza 7 and well before Xbox One X anyway .

This set has a lot of promise! I can't wait to compare it side by side with my LG Plasma and my LG 55UJ6300

Any information on the TCL 4K QUHD 75C2US? I see some websites advertising it but no information on when it will be released for the U.S.

I wonder if it will have DV, as well. Lastly - - how is the "upscaling" on current 4K TCL sets? I'm spoiled with the XBR49X900E and am looking for a 75" set for the man cave.

(Whoops - - just saw that the "C" series is edge lit - - so that's a major deal breaker. It would be nice if the "P" series had a 75" set but I guess that's not an option right now.

"The C-Series is aimed at the design-conscious consumer with what TCL calls a contemporary slim design, and it will be available in screen sizes from 49″ to 75″. Like the P-Series, this line features WCG and support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision, but in this case, the panel is edgelit. Instead of Contrast Control Zones, a feature called HDR Dynamic Contrast uses the metadata in Dolby Vision content to change the brightness scene by scene. Of course, that is an inherent part of Dolby Vision to begin with, so I’m not sure how—or if—this is any different.")

Home Theater Setup
SONY 75X900F & 49X900E, BenQ W1080ST, Denon X5200 & Emotiva XPA-3
AudioSource 100VS, OPPO 103 & Samsung K8500, 9.1.4 Setup - Speakers - Studio 60's,
V.2 (FL/FR), CC-690 (C), V.5, ADP 590 V.5 (SS), MilleniaOne 2.0 (BS) - Velodyne 810 Sub,
Cornered Audio (FH/RH), Definitive Technology (Front Wides)

I just picked up this set and I'm having one issue with it and am wondering if anyone else has encountered it. I'm using a Vizio Sound Bar via Optical out on the TV and I've got lip synching issues. Is this a known issue on this set?

Thanks,
Sean

You're gonna want to post in the official owner's thread to get a better response, this one is dead.
