Hello everyone,

I realized that after updated from the oldest firmware to the latest firmware. The brightness drop significantly.

The HDR peak brightness is no longer 1400 nit. It is now around 960 nit. The SDR peak brightness also decrease as well. Now 100% window peak brightness is only 620 nit. In other word, the TV cannot perform 1000 nit after updated the latest firmware. That's sad.

Have you guys realized the same thing?

Can I downgrade the firmware? I want my TV in the original firmware.

Please help me! Thank you.

Are you sure about this? In that case I won't update my TV via USB as planned...
Can't the decrease in brightness be caused by some setting like "Black Frame Insertion" mode in your Motion settings?

Not Leon (but I am a professional - see what I did there?)

I can confirm all five free movies transferred to my iTunes in 4K dolby vision and all five also transferred to VUDU (but only two of my choices are UHD on VUDU). So it appears they are Movies Anywhere eligible. I love it when I wake up and find free stuff because I just happened to visit the forum. Thanks for the info!

EDIT: So if you want to maximize your value on VUDU you might review what titles they have in UHD before your make your selections. Just for completeness I did have all the distributors (google, apple, vudu, prime, fandango) set up in MA before I made my selections. Probably can link them after redeem but FYI.

Also am I correct that the google play TV app does not do HDR on our TV? These do not play with HDR from the TV App. Is it even 4K? I guess since I have a better playback option not a big deal but kind of odd they promo something from a distributor you can not play back with full features with the internal tv google play movie app. Actually par for the course for the internal apps I guess.

Yes, but I checked before I did the redeem as one of my first choices was not in MA. The first redeem was the GogglePlay part of the offer which I did back in February.

The key is that you have a 4K transaction record in Movies Anywhere so when Vudu gets them in UHD you "should" get the upgrade. I've had this happen with other titles, but there's no documented guarantee that I've seen that this will always happen! However, with that said my personal focus is 100% iTunes (MA locker) with everything else as a bonus and Vudu as a backup. That makes my decision tree easy and fast etc...

I agree...
No change in Peak Brightness on the 930E after the new/Dolby Vision update...
even VINCENT of HDTV REVIEWS just did a recent video comparing the 930E before and after the DOLBY VISION update and no mention of Peak Brightness reduced by the update
They remain at approx 1400 nits.

Did you go into the "Register TV & Get Bonus Offers" App again TODAY and do a submit?

EDIT: If you did open the app and what you see is "Thank you for signing up!" then I would say the offer is not valid anymore. At least on your set

Says you have to have bought your set between 3/18/18 and 4/25/18 to qualify so a fairly small window of owners but I signed up anyways just in case.

I have had the set a couple of weeks but have been too busy to take a look at the connections that the people I purchased my set used.
I have a question about the HDMI connections.. I have the following components.

Yamaha YSP-5600 Soundbar

Oppo 203

Sony PS4

Entone fioptics cable box.

Nvidia Shield TV

Just want to make sure I have it hooked up to take full advantage of the set. Any help is appreciated.

--Best Buy has the 65 inch 930E as Clearence
--Best Buy no longer has the 55 inch 930E to sell
--PC Richards no longer has either the 55 nor the 65 inch 930E on their website to sell
--Crutchfield only has a Scratch and Dent 65 inch 930E to sell thru their OUTLET
Is their a likely successor?
Or is the 900F taking its place?

They seem to run that promo periodically. I got the same deal when I bought this TV back in October. Also sometimes if you open Google TV & Movies there are other promos in there like 99 cent rentals (good for 4K movies). I actually had two 99 cent rentals which apparently expired (didn't know they did that).

Thanks Leon. I did try again and yes, it says I am already signed up. So I guess my set is not in the valid window. I registered Feb. 23...

I can't seem to find a way to see my account/registered product...

Very true and the right way to look at it for sure.

Anyone with dish network have blury players when watching basketball? Not sure if it's the tv or the dish service. When the tv zooms in on players or commentators, its crystal clear, but when zoomed out and showing the players playing, they look very blurry, it's not clear. I don't think the x900e I had before was like this.

Can't the decrease in brightness be caused by some setting like "Black Frame Insertion" mode in your Motion settings?
Yes. I am pretty sure about this. I just got my 55" X930E last Friday evening. The first day, I played around with the settings, played a lot video games, HDR movies, watched demos, dead pixel test,... without update the firmware. The second day, I updated the firmware, and after that I notice the brightness decreased significantly. I don't feel it super bright any more. I am sure I didn't get used to the brightness, but after the update, I feel it not as bright as before. All settings were the same, nothing change, I checked carefully everything.

I am not sure that Sony decreased the peak brightness since this update or previous updates, because I updated straight from the origin to the latest firmware.

I believe my eyes more than profession talks. If some one can professionally measure the brightness of the latest firmware again, I really appreciate it.
