The Movies Anywhere Android TV app was updated with 4K support according to the release notes. I didn’t check if HDR works, but I’d be surprised if it did.

Edit: HDR does work, but not Dolby Vision.

Depends on the app. Vudu you can just press down. With Netflix you can press Display (takes a while to ramp up to best resolution). YouTube has “stats for nerds”. Some like the recently released 4K compatible Movies Anywhere app, have no way to tell short of eyeballing it.

Ahh, right. That's what I thought. So basically the same as when you're watching a Blu-ray —on our X800 we press 'Display'— to chk/verify resolution or 4K HDR, etc? Thanks!

Hello,
I recently swapped my old sound bar (original Polk from about 12 years ago driven by an HK receiver) for the Sony HT-S5000. Now the TV button on the 930e remote no longer functions correctly. I have cable box (Xfinity 4K box) and X700 player going into the sound bar and sound bar out to the 930e ARC (HDMI 3). If I press the 930e remote to go to TV it defaults to HDMI 1 input. I can't find a setting to map that "TV" button on the remote go to input HDMI 3. I have the most recent firmware versions on the TV, sound bar and blu ray player. Now to watch TV, I have to manually change the input to HDMI 3. Other than getting a universal remote, is there a way to fix this?

You can change this is the settings under External Inputs -> Customize TV Key.

Just an update that 24 hours after my factory reset I'm having no issues other than the known bugs. Seems to have been an update bug only affecting a small number of users. No idea as to the cause, but a factory reset seems to be the cleanest fix.

Hint: Use your phone to take pictures of your settings BEFORE you do a factory reset. Makes resetting your Picture Adjustments a lot faster.

Definitely. I took pictures of all my settings, both Picture Adjustments and system settings such as Bravia Sync, Input settings, Developer Options, etc.

I don't remember who it was I was talking to Re: the Harmony remote and hub not acting consistently when controlling the TV through IP Control, but I just recalled a Harmony Customer Support suggestion I received a few months ago (obviously before this update) that fixed the situation for me. They suggested going into your router settings and reserving unique static IP addresses for both the Sony TV and Harmony Hub. I assume what happened to me, and potentially others who updated and performed a factory reset, is that the Sony TV no longer has its uniquely assigned static IP address, and is therefore working inconsistently. Perhaps assigning / re-assigning the Sony its own static IP address will work for you as well. Good luck!

Mine took a few resets but i think once it updates to the correct play store version there shouldn't be any more issues. I too am no longer seeing the issue.

Small quirks aside, I absolutely love this new update.

I must say as a disclaimer that my 930e is not connected to the internet and I don't use the internal apps. So I cannot talk about that aspect of the TV. For content I exclusively use external devices such as an Apple TV and a PS4.

What I like the most is the fact that the Custom picture mode now seem to do tone mapping. I briefly talked about it a few days ago, and now had the chance to do some more testing to make sure I was seeing things right.
I use Custom most of the time because, once calibrated, I always liked it better for SDR (especially gamma and sharpness). But because this mode wasn't doing proper tone mapping, each time the signal changed to HDR (on the Apple TV for example) I had to manually put the picture mode to Cinema Pro, which was a bit of a pain. Now I can just leave it on Custom and the HDR picture is perfect.

Small detail, but I really like it!

I had done the update via USB stick late last week.
I did not do a Factory Reset - wanted to avoid it since I have done a full calibration with HCFR.


The morning after the update the TV would not turn on. Ended up unplugging the set for a few minutes and it powered up (into the boot etc.)
Thought/hope it would be a one time event.

Well, it has happened 2 more times - always in the morning.


So, bit the bullet and did the Factory Reset...


Hope this cures it.

Not sure if any of y'all are paying attention to the NVIDIA SHIELD update (Experience 7.2) that went out a couple days ago, but it seems to be causing major issues with a lot of users... we should feel very content in comparison to that rollout!

Yeah I occasionally run into the same issue for some reason the TV does not respond to the remote to turn on. In every case though it eventually turns on usually after a minute or 2 of trying. Not sure what causes this honestly but I think it’s always done it since I’ve had it.

It’s not all the time and there are long periods it doesn’t happen but when it does happen, it will happen frequently for a few days. I almost feel like the TV is doing something or updating something and doesn’t want to be interrupted.

I’ve also caught the TV flash on and off very quickly out of nowhere too. The power indicator light does not come on but I can tell the backlight comes on very dim for a split second and goes off. I can also here the clicking or whatever noise it makes when you turn it on and off.

TV works perfect otherwise so I have never really thought anything of it honestly. I did always wanna try just disconnecting from the WiFi to see if that helps, since I don’t use any of the apps either and have always had to update via USB anyway. I never factory reset before, but did after this last update. Unfortunately that didn’t seam to help in my case.

No. I have never used that remote, only my Logitech Harmony Ultimate.

I even put one of the extenders directly under the sensor. I literally have to go into devices, 930E and keep tapping the power on command every few seconds until it comes on since everything else powered up correctly. I haven’t taken notice of exactly when it happens so can’t say if it’s always early morning, late night or both. The issue comes and goes and I’ve never needed to unplug it to resolve it.

The split second power thing is new though since the last update as I’ve never notice that before. I guess I can just hope these aren’t signs of something going wrong with the power supply or something.

Gotcha, but still using IR through the blasters... not IP Control.

Correct. I turned the IP control off. I don’t remember exactly what the reason but do know when I first got it and set up the harmony with it using the IP it was doing something I didn’t like.

Understood. Yeah, my IP Control wasn't working either at first. After talking to Harmony Support, I was able to get it to work flawlessly. First, there was an update released that greatly stabilized Harmony IP Control for Sony TVs. Then, two of the main fixes were to 1. disable Bravia Sync and related settings (AVR needs to be off to turn Bravia Sync off), and 2. assign unique static IP addresses to both the Sony TV and the Harmony Hub.

Thanks!! I can certainly look into that. Were you having issues with the IR too? Is this normal behavior I may have missed somewhere else in the thread?

No, I never had an issue with IR with the Sony TV. But since all of my components are behind a cabinet, I went the Harmony Hub route. To be consistent, I'm using IP Control for the TV (my Smart Control remote does not have an IR emitter, and while my Harmony 950 does, I don't want to have to point my remote at the TV (habit)... and also don't want to use IR blasters).

I just returned my Apple TV 4k and hot shield last week. I’m loving it so far, only issue I have is having to manually change resolution to get the tv to do better upscaling the the shield

I can for sdr 4k on my google play movie in rec709 so I’m happy, I signed up for preview program and got 7.2 but am not allowed access to the section of forums yet.

What issues it seems fine to me ? Could you post link please

I mean I suppose it could just be a quirk with my harmony maybe. I could always try the IP thing since they fixed it or even just try the stock remote for a bit and see if it ever doesn’t respond to that.

I saw the update waiting and went to the Nvidia Shield forum AVR didn’t see a lot of complaints, mostly nits. What major issues are you referring to?
