Anybody have any issues with there TV's not coming on? I've had a couple seperate occasions where I need to unplug the TV for it to turn on.

I've also noticed that in Android TV the menu's in the APP's have been going to black and white. Once I choose something to watch it's back in color. It's very odd.

Whenever i had the no sound from the TV to my Yamaha AVR if i played with the HDMI settings and got it to trigger, which always worked, i could turn the TV off and within 15 minutes turn the everything back on it would output sound correctly. Over 15 minutes and I would have to toggle the HDMI settings on my receiver.

Now that the update is out, I will have to test that tonight.

Just updated to the new firmware. So far so good. I cannot test the fix for the audio systems bug though.

A few posts on Reddit have confirmed that it fixes the ARC sound issue and also fixes DTS (but not DTS-HD MA) audio playback in the video app. It doesn't fix YouTube HDR or anything else.

Speaking of Reddit, someone reported that he was told that Sony plans to push out AirPlay2 and HomeKit support to the X930e. Considering there have been no announcements outside of 2019 sets and 2017 and 2018 Sony sets are not on Apple's support page, I'll believe that when I see it.

I wouldn’t hold my breath for Airplay 2 and Homekit... everything I read pointed towards the X950G being the “oldest” model to support those Apple features. I guess we’ll see how it turns out though.

Yeah, I pointed out the same in that thread.

I think the chances are very slim but it would be a nice surprise.

As far as DTS-HD MA, that cannot be passed from internal apps anyway since the TV does not have eARC.

I think Google is going to have to fix the Youtube and GP HDR issue.

From what I've read the apps are passing the correct metadata to the TV, but for some reason the TV isn't switching correctly to HDR. It's simply saying the video is HDR, but not actually changing the settings. It does this for all VP9.2 codec video. That seems like something Sony would need to fix.

Not saying it’s wrong the other apps don’t have the same problem. What I don’t know are the Apps making api calls for this through google android or directly to the tv firmware itself. If latter is the case it could be Sony’s problem.

Google is the only one making apps using the VC9.2 codec which is why other apps work as they use H.264. I think the TV just doesn’t handle VC9.2 correctly. It’s never handled it correctly even back before we got the Oreo update. At that time YouTube via Chromecast would switch to HDR but not set the brightness and color, just like the native YouTube app does now.

Not sure if this has fixed my sound bar turning Off while viewing all sources intermintantly as of yet (has not done this so far since the update completed) but my sound is still slightly out of sync as it was prior to this update. I tried changing the system sounds for A/V Sync On, Off and Auto and can NOT get this sync perfect... Almost though when setting my Vizio sound Bar to its Minimum delay time for the Sound Bar's A/V Sync Delay adjustment. I was hoping this setting would be closer to its mid delay value once ARC was updated with a cure.... No luck with that but if ARC No longer drops my sound as it functioned prior to the OREO upgrade, I will be back to where the TV sound functionality was & that is what I am hoping for with this latest release version. We will see... I'll add more coments as I put some hours on. I just may do another Factory Reset to see if that sound sync issue changes but not really feeling like doing this at the moment............. Any body else having slight sound sync delays via ARC even after this latest update?

I just updated to 6.5850 via USB. I skipped the previous version. So far, everything is working fine. I don't use ARC, so I can't comment on Sony's fix of the issues there. As usual, all of my settings were retained. However, I had turned off WiFi connectivity for the TV, and the update turned WiFi back on. Sneaky Sony and Google.

**OFFICIAL** 2017 SONY XBR-X930E (Owner's Thread)(No Price Talk)

Saw this bullet in v6.5850 but have no idea what “support” they are referring to. Anyone know?
“Adds support for Dolby Vision content (XBR-65Z9D, XBR75Z9D, XBR-100Z9D, XBR-55A1E, XBR-65A1E, XBR-77A1E, XBR-55X930E, XBR-65X930E, and XBR-75X940E only)”

Edit: never mind. It was referring to what’s included from previous upgrades.

Well its 10 hours later and no Sound Bar self turn offs since the latest update. Prior to the update the sound bar was turing Off around once an hour or so. i did do a factory reset to be on the safe side but it seems like Sony has fixed this issue.

At some point you should be able to get it on the TV but I always download to USB now. It’s more convenient for me and I don’t have to wait.

I always do a USB update. Depending on their rollout strategy for this particular firmware, if you wait for your TV to automatically update it can take anywhere from a few days to a few months.

That was the mistake I made. When I didn't get the OTA update, I forced the v6.5830 USB update without checking here first.

I didn't know Sony had stopped pushing out the update, once they became aware of the ARC issue. Wound up screwing myself by not waiting because I couldn't back it out. Hopefully v6.5850 will set things right.

How can you tell what the verizon number is of an update showing as available to install on your TV? I never downloaded and installed the last one due to the ARC issue and other problems associated with it. I am just trying to determine the version number before downloading and installing, i.e, is it the new v6.5850 or the previous one? Thanks

The link posted earlier on this page points to 6.5850. The firmware with the ARC issue was 6.5830.

But what I am trying to determine is if 6.5830 is the update my TV is asking me to download, or is now possibly 6.5850? Can I somehow see the version number before saying yes to the download? Thanks

Misunderstood your original post. Sorry.

That's a good question. You'd think it would be the latest, because they supposedly stopped automatically installing 6.5830, but you never know. May want to call or chat online with Sony support, just to be safe.

If you use the manual method then when you visit the support site it should be very obvious that you're downloading the correct version which is 6.5850. See attached:

Sony actually pulled 6.5830 (prior version) so it would not even be available on your set or the support site.
