I've got my Xbox One X plugged into HDMI 2 and configured to support HDR (the xbox reports full support for 4K & HDR in it's setup screens). The only problem is that I can't enable the game mode for some reason. When I'm on that input, and got the Xbox turned on, I go into the TV menu and the Game Mode option is greyed out and says it's not available. On the input selection screen, I've got the icon set to Game Console, but that doesn't un-grey the option. Anybody have any thoughts?

Not through Sams Club, but:

SquareTrade (ST) has been great for me. Purchased a 5 year plan (think they only offer 4 year plans now) on my 80 inch Vizio M series that I bought 4 years and one month ago. That TV developed a small shadow that most wouldn't notice on most material.
I contacted ST customer support went through a reset that did not resolve the issue. The ST rep advised a tech in the area would contact me within two days. 24 hours later I had an email from ST stating they would replace the TV with either a Vizio E80 or the Samsung UN82MU8000. I went for the Samsung. The replacement could be either new or manufacture refurb'ed. A new Sammy showed up about 8 days later. Unfortunately, it had a couple small, brighter than the surrounding area around it "spots" on the screen. I got on the phone and advised ST customer service and "declined" the TV acceptance/delivery and they sent another one that showed up about a week later.
The entire experience was relatively painless and the customer service was top notch for me. Basically my ST warranty got me a new Samsung 82 inch 4K TV for an over four year old 1080p TV! Not only that, you keep the TV they are replacing.... in my case it still works, just has a small area that has a slightly dimmer shadow in it. Actually still very watchable for most material.

Has anyone watched HDR10+ content yet on their MU8000? Supposedly Amazon Prime has had HDR10+ content available since mid December. I tested witj their original series The Tick and it shows as just plain HDR

Which Xbox are you playing on it? If you haven’t picked up an X yet I would recommend that. Enchanced games on the X with this tv are amazing. I’ve read COD isn’t the best game in terms of showcase. Forza 7, gears 4, Witcher 3 and rise of the tomb raider look phenomenal in 4K hdr

remove legs

I am about to try and remove the legs so I can mount on the wall. I found a document that shows how the legs are installed but not how to removed. Looks like it must be just a friction fit.

yes, the legs just slide in, a fairly easy fit. Also, if the cables run down inside the left leg, a cover just slides up and off to reveal the slot. Cables are just tucked into the bottom of the set and up into the area behind the center cover.

strange discolored area?

Hello - just cross-posting so there is more visibility.

I bought a UN65MU8000 back on Black Friday weekend.
The following day, I noticed a band of discoloration running across the screen, making it truly unwatchable.
The problem is easy to see in the photo below, surrounding the highlighted channel in the Guide.
A few days later, with no improvement after trying everything I could, I boxed up the set and returned it.
The folks at the store wanted to see the problem before making a swap.
They seemed to know little about the TV, and did not connect the one-connect box.
After correcting that problem, we got the set up and running.
The discolored area was gone, but the folks had handled the TV so roughly that I demanded refund or replacement, and got it.

The new TV was fine, and even connected to my home wifi immediately, something the first set would not do.

After somewhat over a month, a band of discolored area appeared - running all the way across the screen, about six inches tall, starting about 7 inches from the bottom.
It was nearly identical to the problem with the first TV. I was quite unhappy at this point, and again tried everything I could think of

Next day, I thought I'd try something pointless. I disconnected the one-connect, powered up, off, reconnected, powered up.
Holy moly, the discolored area was gone!

I may be onto something here, and will add more to this sorry tale if it happens again.

Do you have HDR+ enabled in your advance options? I was having a band issue near the top of the screen, and turned off HDR+ and all was good after

Wall Mount TV

I am looking to wall mount the TV. I was wondering what the best way was to install the universal interface box. There ins't enough room in the cavity for the box and extra cable. Perhaps just attaching the box to the wall behind the TV with 3M strips?

I've tried to open up that leg for the cables but haven't had any luck yet. To open up the leg to insert the cables, do you slide the upper section towards the tv? I think that's the direction to slide it open, but it doesn't want to budge either way and I'm afraid I'll slide the top section right into the back of the tv and knock the entire set over.

Hi, newbie here...i just hooked up my 55MU800D from Costco a couple weeks ago...Xfinity for cable and a newly-purchased Denon AVR-X1400H with 4K capability. Almost all my viewing will be cable and Netflix/AMZN Prime video via the tv's built-in apps(with occasional 4K programs if available). I run the Xfinity into the Denon then to the 1-Connect box. The hdmi cables i'm using are older (5-8 yrs) pricey Monsters or similar. I don't know if they are technically considered "hi-speed" cables or not.

Two questions for the experts here : First, should i replace my older cables with new "hi-speed" cables ?

Second, should I bypass the Denon and run Comcast straight into the tv via 1-Connect box and run optical audio to the Denon ? I've been seeing "judder/stuttering" and am wondering if this is due to either old cables and/or a sub-optimal setup (ie:running Comcast thru Denon) or both ? (of course i might not have the tv calibrated properly too)

Thanks in advance for any feedback !!

yes, the rear part of the leg is a cover that slides up toward the TV. It does not have to go far enough to hit the TV, just up an inch or so, then it comes off.
You do have to use a fair bit of force - I suggest holding the leg with the fingers of both hands, and using your thumbs to slide the cover up.

From my reading HDR+ is just processing to enhance SDR content and can be detrimental to true HDR sources. I leave it off all the time as well.

Yes, HDR+ is just some fakery that tries to make normal stuff look like high dynamic range.

I have it turned off.

Correct! Real HDR content is triggered and cannot set off. You'll see a HDR logo in the screen modo logo when its on.

i have a un75 mu 8000. i upgraded my direct setup to include a wired 4k box. The tv, which recognized the previous wireless genie 2 client as a Direct box and also recognized my previous hr44 as a direct box now sees the 4k box as a "spectrum Cable" box. The Samsung remote is incapable of working the direct box which is a major pain. I find it hard to believe this is a software issue new to Samsung as of today. Has anyone else seen this and what had to be done to fix it.

thanks,

dk

Hi, just noticed that if I use the built in Netflix app and play 4k, it does not indicate the HDR but if i use the Netflix app from my PS4 Pro and play the same 4k movie, it does display the HDR logo.

Anyone have the same issue?

Which movie? Is the video quality the same? I have a Tivo and can run the comparison?

Did you ever find a solution to your problem, I think I may be experiencing a similar issue. The line moves up and down depending on the content but it only shows up in grey backgrounds
