Thanks. Hoping someone can do a side by side with the ks8000. Costco still has the ks if these aren't as good.

Try the "LG Chess HDR" file from http://demo-uhd3d.com/categorie.php?cat=demouhd.

(Download it and put it on a USB flash drive.)

It doesn't look at all good on a set that doesn't do real HDR.

Hi Dave4Steelers,

if you do decide to somehow do a side by side comparison between the MU8000 and the KS8000 series tv's, can you try to check to see if the resolution movement from left to right on the MU8000 has been at all improved over the KS8000 series.

Also, can you somehow try to see if the menu seems to respond faster in the MU8000 over the KS8000 series as well?

Reason why I asking these questions is that I'm trying to figure out in someway if the quad-core cpu's have been updated at all for the newer MU8000 series.

Anyways, thanks in advance for any information!

The front has almost no silver bezels on sides and top. Back has charcoal texture with removable panels for wiring. Screen itself is a deep black when off.

I've never used the KS8000 but I have not noticed any lag when pulling up Home Menu. It seems very snappy and responsive.

Did you need special bolts (45mm i believe) and spacers to mount to the wall, like the KS8000 required because the ones Samsung included were too short?

My KS8000 came with standoffs, but no bolts. The bolts that they recommended were 8 X 45 mm with a 1.25 mm pitch.

Thank you both...will pick up some M8 45mm bolts when I pick up this tv. I wanted to pick up a 55" KS8000, but refuse to pay more than $1,000 after it was that price a few times. Now I figure I may as well wait for the new MU8000 to be discounted. I'm hoping the MU8000 is as good as the KS8000, if not better, with all the specs (don't see why it wouldn't be)...can't seem to find any reviews online yet.

Not much info on these yet right? We still can't tell if they are equivalent to KS8000 in terms of specs.

Hi Dave, I'm looking into getting the 75" version of this tv. I have been all over the place trying to figure out what brand and tv I wanted and ultimately black levels seemed to be really important. I know the new Lg has 3 HDR types...but I'm not sure it matters. With this being my first 4K tv and hopefully one to last a reallllly long time...can you give me a super honest review? How are the black levels? I know the Premium UHd is marketing talk, but are the quantum dot Tvs really any better? Spending this much on a tv is crazy to me but I think I'm going for it.

Would love to hear your thoughts! I can't find a review of this tv anywhere.

MRSP of the KS8000 is higher than the MU8000 MSRP, so that isn't the case.

This tv has excellent black levels. If black level is important to you i would probably steer away from LG LED unless its their OLED. In my opinion Sony, Samsung or LG OLED but its expensive. HDR in general is best improvement and important to 4K. I wouldnt base decision on Dolby Vision but needs at least HDR10. I would say QLED is slight improvement but i think for price over hyped. Early review from Rtings.com gave Q7 overall 7.9. Saying better color variety but viewing angle suffer and brightness lacks. Go with standard LED from Sony or Samsung or see what Vizio announces for m or p series in few months.

Thanks for the insight. I am leaning a little towards the X940D from Sony if I can get a decent deal on it. I did see some images online that showed blooming issues...but none of the reviews seemed to have issues.

On the KS8000, the bottom bezel and the legs have a very shiny, chrome-like appearance, which I find distracting. Based on in-person inspection, how would you describe the finish of these parts on your MU8000? With respect to your bezel, I would say matte silver or gray based on your photo (not real shiny like the KS8000), but colors can be hard to judge based on photos displayed on a computer monitor.
