Yeah I told you. It looked par for the course. I don't think you should worry too much if it isn't distracting you during regular viewing.

Has anyone played with the picture in picture PIP menu yet? Tonight I wanted to watch two things at once, had my cable box on hdmi, hit the picture in picture button and the cable box source shrank. I went to the fox sports app, but as soon as I hit the video, the PIP closes. Reading the manual online, it says if you open an app that displays pictures, video, or music, (I. E. Every app) the PIP window closes. This really defeats the purpose of pip if the only thing you can do with it is browse around.

Also the manual says there is no way to move or resize the PIP. Again, disappointing. My 10 hear old vizio let's me move it wherever I want on the screen and lets me pick three sizes. My old roommate has a 5 year old Sony that lets him resize the windows to literally any size you want.

Pip only came to this TV 3 months ago. It did not have PIP when I bought it. I didn't buy it for PIP. If that's a priority, you got the wrong TV. On the other hand, the Android OS seems to be a work in progress, so who knows what they will introduce next.

I get that. And I rarely used Pip on my old TV. I just figured for a 2000 dollar TV, if it has Pip, it should actually be able to be used with two sources playing at the same time.

My old set had limitations, if hdmi was one source, the other source had to be either component or antenna, which for the few times I used it, was fine. But this PIP, it's literally unusable.

This time when I uninstalled it I used a program called DDU to do a thorough removal of it. I normally keep my drivers fairly up to date but I had been forced to stay on 17.2.1 due to a weird issue with the hdmi audio not working on any newer driver. Using DDU fixed the audio issue as well. I guess my driver was messed up and leaving behind scraps and registry keys it shouldn't have been. Anyway...thanks for the help.
That's awesome to hear/see! DDU is a great tool and I've seen it solve a lot of strange and one-off problems. Glad you got it fixed and can enjoy it. Might I ask what the rest of your rig specs are and what you plan on replacing the AMD card with? I keep throwing up the idea of a gaming HTPC, but the Shield TV might be the real solution I'm looking for since my main system is plenty powerful for 4K to some degree.

Thanks for sharing. I have been debating TV placement for several months, and also debating Mantel Mount vs Dynamic Mount.

Your installation is very nice, I like that the arm/brackets/wires seem nicely hidden even when in the down position. Most installs I see seem to partially show the arm and cables.

I plan on getting a 55" 900E. In your 55" setup, did it still nicely cover the arm/bracket/wires?

Thanks!

Sony x900e 49"..I have noticed at the end of a movie, the credits ( black screen with the directors, actors names etc ) on tv, towards the bottom left corner about 3" up I have what appears to be a stuck pixel? It's noticeable when you are a foot away or less from the screen but can't even tell from my normal viewing distance( 7ft ). Is this normal for a new led tv? I've only had it for a month now. And it appears to be only stuck on black darker scenes, but goes away if it gets really dark and/or different lighter colours. I highly doubt where I bought it from would take it back now due to this. Is it normal? Anyone else experiencing this?

Hulu sound problems

I recently purchased the 75" X900E and it is a great TV. The only issue I have had so far, is that Hulu doesn't produce any sound through the TV app. Netflix, Youtube, several other streaming apps all have sound and have no issues. Has anyone else experienced this? I have an optical cable going to my surround sound system and have all the settings correct. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, only one major complaint about the Sony 900E - - and I'm not sure if it's Sony's fault or not.

I've given up on "ARC" and the ridiculous "Switching to External Speakers," and "Switching to TV/Audio," back and forth, on my 75X900E. I'm running an optical for my audio source for anything from the TV (Antenna or Streaming.)

I probably won't miss it as 5.1 is usually the best you get from Amazon Prime & Netflix. But Geez, Louise, the state of "ARC" and "CEC" is seriously lacking. At least for my setup.

I did pickup the new Harmony Elite & Hub and it's very cool. My older Harmony (880) was on it's last legs and the hub really helps. Smaller foot print, as well, since it goes up vertical in the cradle versus my old Harmony which took up a lot of real estate with it's horizontal charger.

Home Theater Setup
SONY 75X900F & 49X900E, BenQ W1080ST, Denon X5200 & Emotiva XPA-3
AudioSource 100VS, OPPO 103 & Samsung K8500, 9.1.4 Setup - Speakers - Studio 60's,
V.2 (FL/FR), CC-690 (C), V.5, ADP 590 V.5 (SS), MilleniaOne 2.0 (BS) - Velodyne 810 Sub,
Cornered Audio (FH/RH), Definitive Technology (Front Wides)

Just got mine yesterday. Popped in Planet Earth 2 in the XBox One S and it looks amazing.

One question I do have is about the UI. Does anyone else find it clunky as all hell? To get to settings (to change the picture settings), I have to go to the home menu, scroll down (which sometimes takes me out of the app I'm in that I want to adjust for) and go to the settings button.

There's no way that I've found to actually adjust the picture while, for example, inside the youtube app to see how the settings would affect the video. Am I missing something?

It's worth it if the tv craps out lol. That's the thing with warranties/insurance, they are only worth peace of mind until your tv breaks. Personally, I can't afford drop the cost of this tv again a year or two from now so the warranty is worth it.

You press action menu, then go to picture and your settings are right there.

If the TV does crap out, isn't it more likely to happen in the first couple of years than the latter years?

Costco is $89 for same 4 year time period even when purchased elsewhere. I paid with my CC and it extends it to 3 years total. So buying the costco Square Trade for $89 only gets me 1 extra year so I decided not to bother, otherwise $89 is not a bad deal if you don't have the CC protection option. Generally against extended warranties but at that $89 price I almost considered it.

So, I rechecked and got 12 rows in local dimming high and counted at least 9 when using local dimming medium or low. So, probably somewhere between 45 to 60 zones is an educated guess for the 75" model. 5 rows across is easily detected.

I would not worry about it. Given not being able to see it beyond a foot and several anomalous pixels are within 'production limits'.

What card? Citi card warranty starts when the extended ends.

My point was, when I bought the set it didn't have PIP, and I didn't know it would ever get PIP. Also, I don't find PIP to be "literally unusable". I use it all the time while watching a TV source, while navigating to the "smart" source I want to use. PIP seems to go away as soon as I launch the smart app I'm interested in browsing, having done it's job. And Sony may well improve PIP's function in the future. Again -- it's not a selling point. If Sony boasted PIP on the box, or sales material that's a different story. But they don't.

I don't disagree that for this price, most other TVs will have fully functioning PIP as you'd expect. My $900 LG had it, and it works much better than this. However, there's lots of things about the Android TV OS that are much worse than LG or Samsung. Lots of bugs, limited functionality, etc. if the OS was the reason I bought the 900E, I would have returned it on the first day. In fact, I seriously considered returning it during the 15 day window because Android TV is the worst TV interface I've ever used. In the end, everything else about this TV blew away the competition in this price range, and I don't really use the Android features much at all, least of all PIP. And as soon as Apple TV releases their 4K HDR box, I'll be done with Android TV, for everything but picture settings, anyway. And if Android and Sony ever get their act together, an update may come along that fixes most of it, and makes PIP work the way it does on competitors TVs.

Buy the $90 Costco. You will have 1 year Sony, then the next 3 years square trade, then two years of Citi for 6 years total.
