Before I go buy a 4K Chromecast, is there any reason/benefits for it now that this is a Android TV and 4K/HDR compatible?

If not, I'll use my BB Giftcard on something else

I can download it just fine, but when I try to extract it, it comes back with a checksum error for the .pkg file.

When I try to update through my TV, it says the previous package from 2017 is still the latest one. My TV is a USA model, and I'm located in the USA.

Did Sony purposely stop deployment of the 1/16/2018 firmware?
I just spoke with Sony customer support and they indicated that this firmware is currently on hold, due to the following issues:

- Some customers are experiencing some crackling or static noise or audio when changing channels with some set top boxes
- Continuing issues with Dolby Vision

They confirmed that as of right now, the most current firmware version is PKG6.2676.0070NAA, and that they were working on an update to correct the issues found in PKG6.2818.0075NAA.

They also said that once updated, the TV cannot be pushed back to an older version. With all the issues they were receiving with the latest update, they decided to stop the roll out of this firmware.

My question to them was, if it was really on hold, why was the file still posted on their website, and they said they would look into pulling it from there, if that makes any sense?

2- Can anyone recommend a good affordable bias lighting kit for this size tv?

3- Using PS4 pro mainly for games, any recommended settings to get the most out of this tv and the ps4 pro?

Thanks in advance!

I love this one, even has a remote control and says it is really 6500K. He has different configurations as well.

I don't see any slots for any cables to come out of that compartment? It's fully enclosed, and perhaps about the size where you could fit a square sandwich in there.

That explains the clicking sound I get, I thought tv was about to catch on fire but noticed if you hit mute it stops the clicking sound.

Dolby vision? That wouldn't apply to us right (900e owners)

Right, I don't think that applies to us. It seems to be the same package that's being used across their TV's.

Well you could use it for anything. However, I don't see any reference to use it in that manner anywhere in Sony's literature, and I wouldn't want to go shoving cables in there without knowing what they might come in contact with.

Now, I have found references to international versions of this particular TV in the Sony literature to a PVR incorporated into the TV for some markets. If so, then that would be the perfect spot to install a HDD.

Just ordered an X900E would like to know if there are any 'must do' settings/adjustments. I'll definitely update the firmware once I receive it. Also bought a UBP-X800 Ultra HD Blu-ray player.

Dolby Digital via Optical Out

Hey everyone – looking for a little help with my 65X900E and passing Dolby Digital via the optical out without turning off the TV speakers. I’ve read that the TV can pass it, and I have been able to get it to do so, but not while the TV speakers are on. At this point, I’m not sure if it is even possible to do what I want to do with the TV…

I have an older Denon receiver with HDMI (non-4K though) that was top-of-the-line and am not looking to replace it. I simply want to pass DD to it, via the optical out, while watching TV. The catch is, that I want to be able to do that while not turning the TV speakers off. Reason being is that sometimes the wife and/or kids will turn the TV on and not want to fire up the entire sound system (or even when I am doing some testing/video adjustments). Right now, the TV will pass PCM via the optical (which the receiver sees as Pro Logic) while still allowing the TV speakers to work. If I turn the TV speakers off, it will pass DD to the receiver. Is that the only way it works? I ask as my old plasma passed DD via optical while allowing the TV speakers to work. When using the sound system, I just make sure the TV speakers are turned all the way down.

BTW, don't worry, my Blu-ray and 4K players are connected via HDMI to the receiver and I am getting TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio for those.

Any help/clarification is greatly appreciated!

Any thoughts?

According to Netflix you only need about 25 Megabits per second for 4K HDR content. The Ethernet test results obviously must be some kind of bug.

My 6 year old has known for at least 2 years how to turn on the PS3, TV, and Onkyo receiver then open Amazon Prime or Netflix to watch his shows on our dumb TV dowstairs. He learned how to read the remote and Apps before he did in school. I only mention this because you would be shocked to see how quickly kids figure these things out if properly motivated.

The TV isn't going to give you 5.1 sound while the stereo speakers are still active. It makes sense why it defaults to stereo when the speakers are still active. I have a Sony Soundbar and HD Blu ray player hooked up to my 900e in our bedroom and I love that Bravia Sync allows all three to work together seamlessly and with a single remote.

Now here is the kicker, they want images of the tv showing tv shows, in a well lit room . 1) it's kind of hard to capture it with phone when the room is well lit, I have a note 8 but it's still a cell phone and it dosent capture exactly how you see it in person 2) the fact that they want it in a well lit room is bonkers, like why won't they accept images of the tv in low light? What are we only supposed to watch during the day?

It's almost as if they know these issues are going on and trying to make it hard on us. I asked to speak to who ever reviewed so they can explain the light bleed but it's impossible.
Has anyone who contacted Sony about the edge bleed/ halo been approved for an exchange?

Hard to believe since it's been a standard for 20 years. Biggest disappointment with this tv is the audio pass through. I can't even get
5.1 DD using Google play or Amazon. For some reason Netflix works fine as does the Sony video app. I went back to using my WD live media
player, so no 4K. Good thing this set upscales 1080 so well.
In my tests, it seems like DTS is passed through fine on the optical connection. I'm not able to play it because sonos doesn't support DTS.

I'm able to get 5.1 DD on Google Play, Amazon and Netflix no problems.

Hey guys I've been using this TV for gaming mostly and I tried to connect my gaming PC but the results were horrible. Image quality in HDR wasn't that impressive and the input lag was horrible. I've never had any problems in HDR or input lag on the PS4 but gaming on PC is unplayable. I used the same HDMI 2.0 cable that I used on the PS4 so that's not the issue, I even used the same HDMI port 2 and it's still really bad. I've got a beefy PC so that's not the issue either. All the post processing stuff is turned off too. I don't know what to do, is my TV faulty?

This is what I went with (actually the "Quad" version) based on my calibrator's recommendation.
