After a power failure (thanks to the bloody morons at Spectrum, don't even get me started on them), my TV does this thing where a dialog keeps popping up saying "Samba Services Manager has stopped", and completely hijacks the TV until you click it. So I went to Settings->Apps->SambaServicesManager and "Forced Stop" it, and then it keeps popping up saying "Samba Services Manager Keeps Stopping". You can't make this sh*t up. The second time I did the soft reset by holding the power button down for several seconds, it finally went away. A search at Sony Community told me to go to Settings->SambaInteractiveTV and disable it, so I did that too.

My question: maybe asked here before and lost in the 473 pages, is there a way to get rid of this Samba crap PERMANENTLY, so I never ever ever have to see it again ?
If you rerun the TV setup option in the menu you can disable SAMBA permanently without factory resetting your TV. I had the same issues when I first set up my TV and foolishly agreed to let SAMBA run in the background (causing massive lag).

Hope this helps.

Gee Mac128. Hate is such a harsh word. How about "Android Sucks."

My question: does anyone else have issues with the picture being super grainy on almost all streaming content? I just bought one new and honestly the picture looks better on my cheap sharp 4k TV than this one. If I stream netflix from the tv app, the 4k content looks amazing. If I use a roku ultra or xbox one it looks kinda crappy. I have 200 mbps internet and even plugged an Ethernet cord in, so it isn't an internet speed issue. I've changed hdmi cables, and doesn't change anything- they are all certified high speed 18gpbs, 2.2 etc.

I've played with all the settings, made sure it wasn't on HDR when its 1080p content, etc. I just think the upscaling looks awful. Not sure if I got a bad tv or maybe there is some hidden setting i missed? Also these two lines show up occasionally- it looks like the screen is split into thirds?

Any help sure would be appreciated.

Thanks
I would say that you either have something set incorrectly or your HDMI cables are not 4K certified (even though the marketing data that you have says they are).

Check the output settings from whatever attached device you want to try. If you're able to have it output in "Native Format", that will almost certainly give you the best overall results. Also, check the various apps to be sure that they are, in fact, configured to be streaming the highest level of content that the device will support.

Make sure that Bravia Sync is enabled on the TV for HDMI-CEC to work (control connected devices).

There are a few scenes that occasionally have a lot of what looks like digital noise in clear blue skies or detailed shadows. Im streaming through xbox too but haven't compared to the built in app. Is your entire image grainy?

Finally installed a new update yesterday, almost thought Sony gave up on EU users. Can`t see any difference, i was hoping for Youtube HDR or Youtube HLG if we ever gonna see that. :/

1st 55js8002: Bad DSE - returned for replace
2nd 55js8002: Exactly the same thing - refund
55js9002: Panel R.I.P. (edge bleed after 1 year of use) - refund
55x900E: Great TV - hope it will last

I'm in the market for a Sony TV. I originally was looking at the 900e, but now I see the 900f is up for sale, which supposedly will get DV later on in the summer. Does the 900e now have Dolby vision with the latest update? If yes, I see no reason to get the F. Can someone clarify if the 900E got a DV update, and if so is it for just streaming services or HDMI too. Thanks for any information that can help me with my next TV purchase.

I have been having an issue with motion and trying to figure out if it is normal or not, presumably not.

If the TV has been on for a while with motion set to smooth and cinnimotion high the picture is silky smooth (Netflix 4K and other sources). Now when I first turn the TV on and play a panning shot like planet Earth 2 mountain scene I get stutter and artifacts. Is this due to the panel being cold or is it just defective and need an exchange?

I have the latest software update and TV is new within the last 2 weeks.

Edit: for wording

I didn't notice anything on any of the football I watched this year but I don't watch NBA, hockey, etc. so can't comment beyond the NFL and tournament games I've seen. Again though, I also saw the stuttering during the tournament games on my 1080P TV and have never seen anything like that previously.

I didn't have the tv during the NFL season, but i do watch a lot of other sports and have started to notice it during the Devils games which i thought was the MSG feed because it's always a little squirrely and my son just told me he noticed it watching the Mets game earlier.

100% network issue. No question. Unplug your modem and router for a minute or two and plug back in. Then disconnect the TV from network and reconnectreconnect

It's because you have too much motion interpolation going on. Plus it may be taking Netflix a minute or two to buffer and get your speed where it needs to be for 4k. Try these motion settings. Will still be smooth but without much artifacting.

Motion flow set to custom
Smoothness at 2
Clearness at min
Cinemotion on med

Just a quick answer from someone for help. I just bought a LG UP875 4K player to start changing over my system to full 4K. I have the 65x900e and currently have an older Sony DN1040 AVR going to/from ARC on HDMI 3. I have a Spectrum box going directly into HDMI 4 that has been working great. Finally I have a Roku Streaming Stick + that puts out full 4K @ 60 on HDMI 2. Does anyone have a similar set-up on their set?

THE question is what is the best HDMI port to use for the new 4K player? I don't mind switching ports and such but I have a feeling that until I get a new AVR I may not get the fullest abilities of either the LG or the Roku stick. Thanks in advance for any help!

One more try

Trying this one more time just b/c my first post got buried so fast.

Hello all. Long time lurker here. I have a question about using my 900e with a receiver and best configuration of components. If this is the wrong place for the question, I apologize.

What is the best (as in best possible sound and picture quality possible) configuration with the following components:
900e
Directv Genie
Yamaha RX-V673 receiver
Sony - UBP-X700 4k blu-ray player (not hooked up yet, just got it)

Currently, I have the Directv plugged directly into the 900e on HDMI 1. Then, I have the 900e connected to the RX-V673 receiver on HDMI 3 for the ARC.

I was thinking I would hook up the new blu-ray directly to the 900e as well, but I'm wondering if I would be better off running everything through my receiver? If I understand correctly, the RX-V673 can pass through the 4k signal from the blu-ray player.

I seem to get slight audio sync issues with this setup on certain channels on Directv, so I thought maybe running to the receiver would be better.

Is there a "right" way to hook this all up for the best picture / sound, or is it just a preference thing? All this new 4k stuff is over my head now.

Thanks in advance.

Is this for all sources, as well as the built-in tuner? Does it smooth out over time?

I had the same RX-V673 receiver and recently upgraded to a Denon X2400H. I connect everything through my receiver and then connect via ARC to the TV.

The reason I upgraded was the V673 will not pass HDR, from what I understand. For this reason, you will want to connect your X700 directly to the TV through either HDMI 2 or 3, as those are the full speed inputs I think. I’m still not sure how this will affect the audio out of the tv back to the receiver.

Hey everybody. Fairly new to the forum. I've had the X900E for about a month now and it's been great. The only issues I've noticed are vertical banding in certain content. I've been scouring the web about issues of banding, DSE, etc.

I've finally just decided to post a video here to gather anybody's opinions on if my TV has an "acceptable" amount of vertical banding. The banding isn't present in any content unless you're viewing a dark gray scene with a few highlights. The worst is playing a game like Project Cars 2 with heavy fog at night.

I've included a video of Okja (on Netflix). This scene does a good job of representing the severity of it. It might be a bit amplified in the video but it's close. As the camera pans you'll see it in the middle-right of the screen (sorry about the reflection...not much banding on that side anyway). Any thoughts? My main concern is getting it replaced with a potentially worse panel.

I realize all panels will have it to some degree if you look hard enough...the problem is I tend to look hard enough.

There is always more than one way to hookup your system...my personal hookup is to let the receiver do all the work. That means I plug in everything I can into it. Then one 4k hdmi certified cable back to the tv. You will need a 4k certified cable on the bluray player (out) and if you have it going into your receiver then another one back to the tv 4k hdmi input—two of the tv inputs are 4k ready the other 2 aren’t. I use a harmony smart remote to take care of all the switching. It’s been awhile since I made my connections...but you may need to setup the bluray/receiver (one or both)to let it know you are playing back a 4k disc. Sorry just can’t remember since I have atmos on my Yamaha receiver and that may be the reason I had to change a setting on the receiver.

I changed out my tv,receiver, bluray player, added atmos speakers at the same time and since every piece was new for me it makes things harder — so hang in there!

Yes it is for all sources. It does smooth out over time after the TV has for lack of a better term warmed up.

I usually find the MSG feed, as least for NY Rangers hockey, stellar. The 4K sets are more prone to what I call studder/judder issues due to the upscaling algorithms involved. That being said, it can be a crap shoot on any "live" transmission depending on multiple factors.

New 900E on the way!

Just joined the 900E club!

My family room 65X930E has a new baby brother coming next week.

I just purchased a 55X900E for the bedroom, replacing a five year old 46" Samsung 1080P set that in turn will replace a 13 year old 32" 720P Hitachi in my work out room. The Samsung weighs about 30 pounds, the Hitachi LCD weighs 86. Glad I'm not the one carrying it out for recycling!!!

The TV will be delivered and installed next Wednesday and I'm looking forward to doing some basic settings and comparing it to the 930E.

I seriously hate Android. The experience with this TV ensures I will never own an Android product again.
I only had the problem yesterday, also. Maybe the youtube app was updated for the new firmware and misbehaved on the old one... but not a fan of Android, here, too!

I'm not seeing any banding issues?

Are you maybe talking about the auto-dimming blooming, because I do see that ...
