Agreed. This is a typical high quality Sony tv in my opinion- in so far as it does everything very, very well, a great all rounder...blu-ray, 4K UHD, cable tv, videogaming...
My only complaint (other than I didn't buy the bigger 75" ) the horrible remote

The set does have very nice images, although as you said, the remote is not very good (in terms of range), and how on EARTH can they forget to put a "Sleep" button on there in 2018 I'll never understand. The last thing you want to do is go spelunking through the menu to find the "timer" function when you're drowsing off. Just thoughtless design. I have to keep an old Sony remote with the Sleep button around just for that function. Why ALL manufacturers can't include, say, four programmable learning buttons on every remote is beyond me.

I'm also not thrilled with the Android OS - this is my first set with that, and it's cumbersome and clunky, and if you go in there to turn off worthless stuff that just adds to the bloat and slows it down, you will find in a week or a month that it has turned all that stuff on again. Whether it's Google or Sony doing that, that is beyond obnoxious. When I turn off a feature, especially in a set as expensive as this, it should stay off, even if it does cost Sony and/or Google a few dollars in ad revenue.

I have the 49" version in my bedroom, I do like it quite a bit overall both in physical appearance and image quality. It was the best available choice at the time I got it a year ago, but I have to say frankly that if LG made an OLED that was between 40 and 50 inches in size, I would not be here (their 55" won't fit). I've had a 65" LG OLED in my living room for almost three years, and have run across none of the niggling little issues I've had with the Sony. And the OLED image is superior, although depending on content, the Sony does come quite close at times.

OS a little bit laggy true but for me I only watch the occasional YouTube video on it. Use my main PC for my internet and would never expect my tv to match it- or be prepared to pay more for a better OS. My main priority is image quality with 4K UHD, Blu-ray and a bit of cable tv.

Thank you! Took me a whole day to configure and hide all the wires as I have a lot of components- 2 x bluray players, 1 x 4K player, Sony PS3, PS4, UK to US step down voltage converter, LED backlight and Soundbar. Also have a powered Belkin 3-way HDMI switcher helping me run everything thru the soundbar. Even managed to leave 1 HDMI port open on the tv itself for incoming a Playstation 5 next year hopefully

I showed this to my girlfriend and now she wants this, or at least something similar.

I currently have an open cabinet and she doesn't like it anymore... :/

The cabinet is from IKEA- it's a 180cm wide Besta unit in black/brown. There are a dozen different ways to configure it (colors, types of legs etc)...I'm sure there is something there to please the g/friend!

Anyone getting the Android and Sony splash screen when you tun the TV on?

After the last two updates, the TV keeps going through the full start up most of the time after I turn it on. I have all the power saving settings turn off, but it still does it. My TV use to come out of standby and have a picture within seconds, now I'm waiting for the Android/Sony/Google stuff the finish half the time.

That and the last update only made the external speaker thing a little better. I'm really starting to wish this was just a dumb monitor, with no speakers, and no smart TV functions, I already have stuff for all that.

Any possibility you're removing all power from the set, even from the power brick, by using a switchable power strip or power outlet or something?

Other than that, I can't think of any reason that should happen.

Nope, plugged into a standard surge protector, same one that I've always used. This started 2 updates ago, it seem to be somewhat random. Sometimes it comes on right away with no splash screens, others it goes through the whole boot up.

It doesn't seem depend on how long it has been powered off either. Occasionally its after the TV has been off over night, other times, it's after only a couple of hours.

I may try a different surge protector, or at least another outlet on the one I'm using to see if it make a difference.

What does the latest firmware update provide in terms of improvements? Anyone know? I already did the one earlier this year.

Finally got the update on my tv and the arc issues seem to finally be fixed for the most part, had to restart once because it wasn’t working but 1 restart in a few days is much better than multiple restarts a day

I just realized after the latest update that the TV again passes through DTS via ARC using native app (Plex). This is outstanding.

Hey everyone. It's been awhile since I posted so I thought I drop by. My 900e is still running fantastic and looking beautiful. Just watched the 4K The Revenant the other day and holy cow. PQ was stunning on my 900e! Not to mention the audio running through my HT system was outstanding. To me this is what 4K is all about. I feel the same with John Wick 2 as well. The latest firmware update by Sony didnt seem to be anything jaw dropping. In fact I see no difference then the last update although I know some people had issues with it. So far for me no issues at all knock on wood. As far as upgrading my 900e is concerned thats not happening anytime soon, in fact if it keeps doing what its doing I dont see me upgrading my tv anytime in the near future. Its just been that damn good in my opinion. My ONLY regret is not getting a 65inch 900e but I have read and heard that the bigger the tv the more problems there may be. I have seen the 900f and the new 950g in person due to my friend's have both sets and I see nothing in either of them that makes me want to upgrade to either one. In fact the 950g's black level's are not that good in a dark room setting and Dolby Vision dont impress me.

Perhaps that fixes the repeating 'cold boot' issue BlueGhost posted a few posts up.

Can anyone help? I have searched but can’t find any calibration setting post Oreo update.
During the update, I had to reset my TV and lost my previous settings.
Talking to few people they mentioned Oreo update introduced some additional setting for color/calibration.
Does anyone have a link or settings page for picture calibration settings? Only for 4K Movie watching... I want a starting point and I will tweak it for my room.

Thank you

It's a slow, rainy day in Central Ohio. So I downloaded and did the update on my 65" 930 E and 55" 900E.

Everything works well. Tried HBO Go, YouTube, Amazon, OTA TV, and ARC and all is well.

Miracle of Miracle. After the last update I no longer had sound via optical from the HBO Go app on the 930E. Now I do. That alone was worth the update.
