Is it possible to set up shortcuts to change Picture modes? I would like a one button switch from Cinema Pro to Game Mode. I have all my devices going through my AVR so it is only a single input on the TV.

Also, with the various color profiles, Expert 1 seems to apply a bit of a sepia tone. I've been using neutral on Cinema Pro instead. Is there a longer description of what each color profile does and which one is most accurate to the original content production?

Thanks. Why do you think the tivo box needs to be restarted once daily? I mean, I see why it may work, but what is it about the bolt that requires the restart?

I had this same issue with a Directv box. After 2 weeks of frustration and TV/Directv troubleshooting I changed the brand new HDMI cable I purchased with the TV to an old cable I had hanging around. Problem solved.

Evaluating the Clear Motion mode.
This is the Rtings moving logo video. Useful for evaluating the clear motion enhancement of black frame insertion. It will also expose the trailing shadow lines of the slow panel response.

It shouldn't be needing the reboot, but it is a dirty fix until I have some more time to trouble shoot. As rebooting fixes the problem when I notice it, I reckon rebooting proactively might fix it dirty. I replaced the cable first, but that didn't help. I also was pointed to replacing the power supply for the Bolt, but also haven't been able to check on getting one of those. I made a couple of changes in my setup recently and am short on time to walk them back. I do think that before I got the new TV, the Bolt was already having issues coming out of standby mode connected to the Yamaha - Samsung TV, so I disabled standby. So I don't think the TV is at fault. But I also switched the Bolt from Comcast cable to OTA, but I haven't removed the Cablecard yet. I might try that next.

Well that didn't work. Same problem today 45 minutes after the reboot. Will get a new power supply I think and see what that does...

Hey Richard,

Congrats on your purchase. It's an amazing set.

Here is a summary I put together a few months ago of a bunch of settings posted in this thread by other users, as well as a few other sources.

Enjoy!

I did. I actually did a factory reset before and after the firmware update. Seems okay, but my issue with FandangoNOW (non-playing of 4K movies) wasn't fixed.

Updated tonight. Home screen & menu's still seem a tad sluggish. I still prefer my ATV4k, but I like that you can remove/hide pretty much all the apps from the TV now.

Updated this morning via USB, with a factory reset before and after. No noticeable difference. Had hoped the YouTube app would properly apply HDR settings, but no change there.

I use our 900F as a monitor only. Not interested in the apps onboard. I'm assuming the Android aspects of this TV are of no importance if your not interesting in buying stuff from Google, going online, or connecting with a cell phone.

Am I missing something I should consider with regard to the Android capabilities?

You’re not missing much, I just use it for YouTube. And the Amazon Prime app on the ATV4K doesn’t do Dolby Vision yet, so I use the TV’s Android Prime app for the Jack Ryan series.

I have been experimenting with different motion settings while watching golf. And while motionflo can sometimes smooth out the visible shadow following the ball when watching putting, it randomly creates judder as well, which is worse than the shadow. So my conclusion is that this feature has no value in broadcast TV. Perhaps it can work better with 24fps movies. I have not tried it there.

I'm the original poster and my fix for the moment has been to turn power save on. Before when I lost the signal, I had to go thru a lengthy reboot to restore everything. Now, when the power is turned on, the cable box only takes about 5 seconds to boot up and no signal is lost. It's cool that with power save on, all shows will still record.

Good luck with the experiments...it's the one thing on this TV I find myself constantly tweaking. I currently run the following:

CinemaPro/Home = True Cinema w/ Cinemotion High

Custom = Custom (1 Smoothness, 2 Clearness) w/ Cinemotion High

Gaming = None

When I'm viewing Blu-ray/UHD or a movie on Netflix, I use Cinema Pro. For streaming shows or via the OTA Antenna, I use the Custom settings. Any higher on Smoothness and I notice SOE, and with Clearness at 2 I get smooth motion (have Brightness at 40 to compensate). Not sure about Cinemotion, and I don't watch anything with scrolling tickers like ESPN or the news channels.

I wish there was a firm answer on what is correct!
