No its not the 940E is way better than both of those sets and way more high end. The 950G and H are created for lower price points. The local dimining system does not come clost to that of the 940E.

I have way more refelections and glare with the 950H. Quite distracting and annoying. I can't have any lights on anywhere, no matter how dim. On the plus side it is cheaper, has possibly even better color, and I do think the upscaling is improved.
I was also considdering the 85" but i fear its still a big downgrade. Yes its bigger but im afraid the quality will be that much lower that i will rather have a smaller screen.
Sadly my 940E has vertical banding and they cant replace it anymore.

I can get a Z9F but that is also a major downgrade. So i dont know what to do anymore. Keep the defective 940E with banding and keep my good contrast or get good screen uniformity but very crappy contrast
Payed almost 6K for this set and now i cant get it replaced for the same set. Z9G/ Z8H and A9G are not option according to sony. I offered to pay extra.
Cash back also not possilbe because the ddistributor that supplied the set does not exist anymore. Im really bummed out.

That sucks. Out of curiosity, how bad is your vertical banding? For my own peace of mind, can you take a pic?

I just got off the phone with Sony and have the opposite problem.

Initially they told I could trade for an X950G and now they would give me the new X950H in trade. Or I could upgrade to the 77" A9G but would need to pay an additional $2999 due to the price difference.

The Z9F wasn't an option, none in stock and they didn't have any on the way per the rep.

Never owned an OLED and I know it gets good reviews but is it worth the extra $3k? Wish I could test drive them both in house to make a decision...

Does anyone know if I can get audio out from the analog connections on the back of the 75X940e to Zone 3 on my Onkyo 3030 while simultaneously using ARC through HDMI to the Onkyo? I am trying to get multi room streaming from my Apple TV 4K that is connected directly to the Sony TV. The Onkyo's other Zones only allow for analog connections, not digital.

Repetition penetrates even the dullest of minds.

Sony told me today they found a Z9F for me as a trade as well. So I could get the Z9F, X950H, or for $2700 the A9G.

Think I'll go with the Z9F between the two and save a lot of money over the A9G.

Wow, an A9G for nearly half price! Quite a decision there... so tempting.

Out of curiosity, you guys who are getting replacements from Sony, do you get to keep the 940e as well?

It is tempting. Remember that it's not really half price considering I paid $2k less than a year ago for the set I'm returning.

Our TV is in the living room/make shift theater and is pretty sunny in the daytime. The Z9F should perform much better in the daytime in our situation.

Sony requires you to send the set back. They'll drop off the new one and then you call them to come have the old one picked back up once everything is setup with the new TV.

Microfiber cloth. You can dampen the cloth just a bit if needed.

Had a problem then solved it, figured I'd tell my story in case any one has similar problems. Forza Horizon 4 on my new Xbox One X says it couldn't detect HDR display. At first I thought it was the bundled cable. but. .

I think fully resetting the console did it. My guess what worked is. I started on HDMI 4. This TV needs to be on HDMI 2 or 3 for HDR. I tried 3 didn't work, tried 2 then didn't work. Then reset console. I guess the setting changed from HDMI 4 to HDMI 2 when I finally decided to fully restart the console. In other words even when I switched HDMI's to an actual HDR capable input, it didn't work until I reset the console and restarted it complete. Sort of to refresh it.

Enhanced HDMI is ports 2 & 3 on the 940E, but IF you're not doing it already, I would strongly recommend that you use Certified Premium HDMI cable between all of your devices. And, I'll admit it's a royal pain, but have you also considered doing a reset on your 940E?

I mean I got it to work so no I didn't reset the TV. Just wanted to share my story. The morale of the story is if you start on HDMI 4, and turn the game on. Switch to HDMI 3. Doing a full reset of the console should work. But fully resetting the TV too would be a good idea too.

I have several USB sticks that work with my other 2 Sony TVs and my Sony 4K disc player but the X940E does not work with any of them.

It does work with an external powered Western Digital USB drive.

If anybody has a USB stick working with this TV can you let me know the make and model number please?

Cheers.

FWIW, I've used a 2 GB Micro Center USB stick for most all of my 940E's updates.

TV tilt with stand.

I have had my 940e for almost two years, and I only recently noticed that there is a slight tilt to the screen. The top part is 3/4 inch closer to the wall than the bottom part.

It doesn't bother me, and perhaps it is suppose to be like that. Or, my stand may be bad or incorrect.

I would appreciate others using the stand to see if there tv is tilted or not?

Thanks

Got the Z9F delivered 2 days ago. Great picture and I'm very impressed.

For anyone with problems with their X940E inside the warranty window I would push for the Z9F as a replacement.

Mine has a similar tilt, it's normal for this set.

Same tilt. I believe it is to keep the center of gravity towards the back of the TV to keep it from falling off your TV stand and possibly injuring someone.

How do you feel the contrast is in comparison? Did you get a 75" Z9F?

3300 (Z9F) vs 11600 (940e) 😖

I did get the 75" Z9F. In my opinion it's a much better picture but I'm going off of memory and maybe being biased towards the new set is a definite possibility. I wish I could've had them both up and running at the same time for a comparison but it wasn't feasible with the switch out.

I realize the contrast numbers are quite different but in real world viewing I think the picture is outstanding. No regrets or remorse for me.

I have a 75" 940E - fantastic TV and nothing wrong with it, but I am looking to move up to an 85" set.

I'm not seeing an obvious upgrade path here for 2020 sets.

Obviously, the x950H and Samsung Q90T are the options to consider for 85", but I'm not sure that I won't be downgrading picture quality?

Anyone in the same boat and what are you considering?

Sony Wise, the only option seems to be the Z9G 85".
Has been on sale for as low as $5,999 (Same as 940e retail 2017)

Wait for the Z8H Reviews. It maybe the next hottness from Sony as far as LCDs go.

I'm definitely keeping my eye on it.

Also been looking at the Q900T. Very nice built and IQ is certainly impressive in the store. I'm just a little dubious about Samsung based on prior experience.

Sorry if this is not on topic for the thread and appreciate the feedback -- it confirms what I've been suspecting.

I cant seem to find this anywhere want to make sure it is able to pass the dolby atmos signal through hdmi port 3 before i commit to updating the sound bar.
I’m in the same situation here. I have the Sonos ARC on the way. Did you get an answer on whether Sony will upgrade the ARC to E-ARC via firmware?

Sony: XBR-75X940E
Denon: AVR-4300H
OPPO: UDP-203
Klipsch: RP-280F, RP-450C, Def Tech: AW6500
Bic Acoustech: PL-200 x 2 (for now)
