This is about the TCL S405 (43" model here) but thought I'd ask.
When viewing Blu rays from a PS3 sometimes the picture gets very blurry on motion, almost like extreme compression artifacts. If you pause the disc and look at a still frame, everything looks perfect. But in motion it's terrible. There is color banding/sparkling too.
The only solution I found was to turn on "game" mode for that input. This is fine, but it does say "less lag but worse picture". Of course the picture looks fine, but I'm wondering if I'm missing anything?
The PS3 is a launch-day unit, but the software is up to date. The HDMI cable is known to be good. Obviously (?) the picture is getting to the TCL just fine since it's good in "game" mode. Using HDMI input #2
on the tv (not the ARC HDMI #1).
I tried every setting on both the TV (HDMI mode 2.0, 1.4 etc) and on the PS3 (Bluray output YUV, RGB, Superwhite on/off, Deep color etc)
Any thoughts? This tv has no motion enhancements so I'm a little confused what's going on ...
I haven't seen anything wrong with streaming videos (Netflix, Youtube etc) even 4k stuff looks good. There is no "game" mode on streaming inputs... So far I don't have a cable box hooked up but will sometime soon..
