Since this TV only has 3 HDMI inputs, I'd love to be able to use component cables to use with my cablebox.
I have somewhat related question.
I connect my old laptop to my TV with DVI-to-HDMI cable.
With my old TV I used a male-to-male 3.5mm headphone cable to connect audio to TV. Once I plugged it in it just worked.
With this TV I can't seem to get this to work.. Am I missing some setting or is this something this TV simply doesn't support?

I attached a screenshot, hopefully it works... it's 120fps... 120hz... just like I said.

Try to use this test
To test whether you're really getting 120Hz out of it or not.

Nice!
The only thing left to try is the rting's 24P test. Play their 24P test video at 120Hz and set a 1 second exposure on your camera, take a shot.
If it comes out with all squares even, you have the TV running at a true 120Hz refresh rate.

Have you ever done any overclocking with monitors? I've been messing around with it for a while, maybe look into it, fun to experiment with. The TV runs 120hz really nice with 1080p resolution.

Hoping someone can come up with a mod to force 120hz, that would make this TV an even more incredible value.

Yes, I messed with it a little bit on my dell monitor, overclocking it to 72hz, removing judder with the 24p test. That's why I suggest you try it too.

No judder in 24p content in 1080p. Looks smooth as butter. Haven't noticed much judder with 4k 24p content, but it's not as smooth that's for sure.

Did you use his wb and color space settings? If so, am I reading those numbers right or are they missing dashes?

The numbers for the color settings don't show properly on the app. Try it on a desktop browser. I had the same issue and this worked for me.

if i set audio mode to stereo or auto, i get sound out of zone 2.

ive attached settings from the tv where i get no sound out of zone 2, but supposedly those settings are correct.
This looks like a relatively old model - Denon/Marantz did not support digital inputs for Zones 2/3/4 until last year, you typically need to run an analog cable from the TV in parallel to get DD in the main zone + stereo in the other.

I am sure this has been answered, but I wanted to calibrate this for myself.

Right now I use mostly the exact settings Rtings provides, but I was wondering if there is a downloadablesoftware disc I could use to enable me to calibrate for myself?

Maybe an off the wall question...

Currently using a 48" Samsung 120Hz UN48H6350 for tailgating and the glare off the screen and or brightness is just no good enough..... (I have considered adding a glare filter)

Will this TV be a better use for a tailgate?

NOTE: Current TV is under a Tent...

https://www.avsforum.com/forum/139-display-calibration/

open source software: https://www.avsforum.com/forum/139-di...-software.html

pattern disks (free, not for HDR): https://www.avsforum.com/forum/139-di...libration.html

HDR patterns from Ryan Masciola (not free): https://www.avsforum.com/forum/139-di...-patterns.html

I haven't done real calibrations myself, just some visual stuff with the brightness, contrast. color, and hue controls.

according to Google the JVC RS400 is a projector. Is that what you're trying to compare?

(I have a tcl p605 with latest firmware)

I successfully created a 1080p/120hz profile on my windows pc and I verified 120fps via www.testufo.com

(Note, I didn't notice an improvement over video quality or smoothness vs. 4k when viewing Netflix via Edge/Chrome)

HDR when turned on Windows 10/GTX 1080 made the entire display less-bright (mimicking the same Netflix/Xbox one) experience. Windows 10 at 4k looked great with HDR off.

Medium and High local contrast make no noticeable difference now.
White flashes "now" almost never appear.

Noise reduction set to Medium seems to help judder and balance of motion throughout viewing sessions without noticeable decrease in picture quality.

Can anyone confirm that the 120hz cmi effect just doesn't seem as prominent since the first couple patches in July? I switched from a p607 to a p605 and the p605 has darker HDR, and more judder

As far as the power issue, have you attempted to push the physical power button on the television? Maybe the batteries the remote came with are dead?
You are wrong. I did read the time window correctly. Best Buy admitted that they have an IT problem w/ their appointment setting software.

This TV reflects ~2.4% of incident light. The best TVs reflect ~0.4%.

If your current TV is a plasma it might be an upgrade.

I wish I had time to mess with this 120hz stuff myself. I did right when I got the TV several months ago, but at that point it was failing the ufo test and other similar tests. I'm really busy right now though so I don't really have time to hook up my PC again and go through that process.

When I started looking closer, they were there all the time, but just not really noticeable with bright content, or even flat gray, on the screen.

Are those wavy lines a defect or damage from shipping? I kept all the packing materials so I can easily return it if needed.

Thanks in advance!

A TCL rep reached out to me directly on here via PM and confirmed that it appeared to be damage from shipping. He helped me get in contact with their North American service center in California and I was just notified today that the replacement set has arrived with the local tech. The local tech is checking the TV himself for any problems first and then will schedule an appointment later this week to swap out the damaged TV with the new one assuming there aren't any problems with the new one.

Great customer service so far and I've been very impressed with how proactive TCL has been.

I'll update once the local tech has swapped out the TVs.

I recommend emailing them at [email protected] as a start.
