I suppose its possible the panels are actually 120hz native, but then why would Samsung include 1080p @ 120 hz .. ?
Yes i'm positive.. They just did not have a 1080p 120hz gaming mode.. Very few tvs vizio and 2017 oleds did though.. They same tvs could not do 120hz 4k its a software hw thing not the panel.

By doing this the Qled wont be able to recognize what source is being fed and label it like xbox or uhd player it wont be able to control your external sources through Samsung remote with this setup.. Am i right when I say most people connect there External sources like xbox , ps4 and set top box directly to there high end receiver as this is the recommendation for best quality sound and getting all the sound formats uncompressed ?
I asked a bunch of questions around this earlier in the thread. Go backwards and take a look. As stated above, its really just moving the HDMI connections away from the back of the TV. I haven't decided if this matters to me with my setup, but what I do know is that my receiver remote won't be going anywhere soon.

Good find, thanks.

20K for the 88"! Imagine what they'll ask for the 8k 85" model.

Oh well, maybe Sony will come out with an 85" Z9F.

I'm hoping they have one this year... gaming @ 120fps cannot be beat on pc. That and the local dimming sold me on a vizio p65 2 years ago and I was always a Samsung guy.

Thats last years model you're seeing. The new Models so far are cheaper so we'll see if the 2018 88" follows the same trend. Please edit your post to not cause the spread of confusing information.

Later tonight I'll create a list of models with pricing info for the ones where that's available & add it to the article. I've just now asked Samsung if it can provide me with official pricing for all the models.

Do we have the number of LD zones in the 2018 q9f and q8f? If they are in the hundreds only and not above a thousand, i dont think that will beat the z9d , the 65 z9d has 600+ zones and good backlight control. Though if they have hundreds, that would still deliver deep blacks and be a lot better from their 2017 models. I would like to see comparison reviews done on the samsung flagship fald's with the z9d.

Rumors before ces was 480 (we'll find out soon how many) But what's going on inside the panel is where the real magic is happening. I have an excellent technical article that I have to share in a bit that breaks down exactly how the inner part of the panel was improved.

The number of zones doesn't always make sense to performance.

For example:

2015 Samsung Js9500: 150 zones

2016/2017 Vizio apart series: 128 zones

The vizio absolutely demolishes the Js9500 despite having less zones. It's seriously a blowout, my old Js9500 was horrendous with light control and blooming.

No we are taking it up with you for the misinformation. Samsung has had a one connect box in many of their TVs since 2014. My 65JS9500 from 2015 has one for example. Please correct your post since it is clearly wrong

Sony 75Z9D, Samsung 65JS9500

No it is not. Sony showed a prototype display that does 10,000 nits. Samsung showed an 8K display with 10,000 zones. Those are the two mentions of 10,000 that were dealing with. The Wall does HDR but not 10,000 nits. It is 146" and 4K. The micro-LED technology can be used to create displays of different sizes but for it to be 16x9 UHD it's gonna measure 146" because the micro-LEDs are of a fixed size.

Not sure what the outer size limits are for the tiles used for The Wall specifically, but micro-LED could in theory be just about any size, as evidenced by Times Square billboards and such.

10,000 zones, that's amazing. Are they selling the 146 inches version?

The 146" version of The Wall will be sold at some point this year. There are no "zones" for the wall, it is self-emissive. Alternatively, you could say it has eight million zones. Either way, it looks amazing and as far as consumer products go is one of the ultimate displays I have seen (Sony's Cledis being similar, but currently a commercial product).

The js9500 panel native contrast was also like half of that of the vizio, which makes a massive difference.

I wonder if the new design helps DSE. That's the only thing I hate about the z9d, the dse from the fald are atrocious.

My old js9500 didn't have any problems with dse or banding, actually had 2. Neither did. Just had ****ty blooming. I'm pretty impressed with the q9f. I *may* cop one next month.

Just trying to figure out how well Apple TV converts Dolby vision to hdr 10 and how well the 2018 q9 fakes dynamic metadata from static sources.

It's down to a c8 or q9...

8,000,000 zones! That means it can do HDR and Dolby Vision better than anything. At 146" inches one would never would want to leave home. They might as well make it 3D too.
