in a few years time self emitting quantum dot led tvs will be out.... the best of both worlds.. and then we will really see a real bump in picture quality potentially

I came from a Plasma and the blacks are pretty damn good looking to me, obviously not Plasma black and there is some blooming but the 4k HDR brightness makes up for it. I avoided OLED because of burn in, dealing with that on my Plasma was horrible

By the time OLED burn in sets in it will be time to upgrade...

Is the remote connect able to show technicians what I'm seeing? Tried watching another movie with a lot of shadows, but the TV will dim the areas instead of showing shadows. I am honestly about to chuck this in the garbage. What purpose does this serve? What is the point of completely dimming a shadow and only showing a lot up part of the screen?

Depends on your use. There are definitely cases in which you should avoid an OLED.

When my Q9FN is not playing Netflix, Xbox, or PC games, it's sitting on the Windows desktop with a bunch of text editors, command prompts, and software development tools for 8-12 hours a day.

That kind of usage will probably destroy an OLED in under a year. Probably within weeks the first signs of burn in will appear.

Took rtings recommendations on motion. Using Automotion set to custom. Deblur and Dejudder set to 0. No SOE, picture cleared up some and judder seems a touch better

Also what's the difference between Film modes? Auto 2 seems to look the best. Really cleans up my antenna image. Seems like allot of the detail I was losing on regular TV has come back

Switched to Movie Mode, still happening. Tried it on Standard, still happening. All Eco settings are off. Even reset all picture settings to default and entered multiple suggested settings, still happening. Wouldn't recommend this TV to anyone. If all you do is watch bright movies, it's wonderful, but if there's even one dark scene, NOT even if someone paid me to keep it. Unfortunately, I'm passed the return window.

Just picked up my 65" Q9FN yesterday, August 2018 AA01 panel.

DSE is pretty terrible using modernwize's hockey test, and the vertical banding is pretty bad in the middle. I know it's no guarantee to get a better panel and could even get a worse one. For anyone who has vertical banding/DSE and kept their TV, did any of you notice it correcting itself and getting better with time?

On my 65JU7500, which is edge lit, had pretty bad clouding in the corners. I massaged the TV a bit, which made it a tiny bit better. After a while, the clouding was significantly improved. So I'm also a believer in just letting the TV sit for a while to "break in". It's tight in the box, so it gives it time for the panel to relax.

What do you guys think? How do yours compare? Worth it to exchange?

At the 3:36 mark, you can see what issue I am dealing with. It's oddly enough the only video on YouTube I can find that clearly shows the problem. Everything else is white circle or squares moving around the screen and it's difficult to see the surrounding zones pulsating.

I have seen the same thing but not in movie mode. Maybe you should try the recommended settings on rtings.com?

Ok the motion is bad on this TV. It's nothing compared to Sony, maybe a update will help. The 1159 firmware has motion Improvements, my hope is it will improve trough updates.

It's somehow worse using their settings because their Brightness levels are very low.

That only affects interlaced film based signals so 720p or 1080p it will be grayed out. Auto 1 supposedly is supposed to be better than auto 2 with deinteralacing film signals but auto 2 has a smoother ticker, so espn or scrolling bars will be smoother on auto 2 and not jerky. With live video such as sports or award shows, news, ext. there should be no difference in picture quality since its not a film based show, unless of course there is a ticker scrolling at the bottom

I play lots of games, Destiny's yellow charge bar was the bane of my plasma. Took months to go away, by the end of my time with it any bright line or HUD caused bad retention, never again!

What motion issues exactly are you guys noticing? I have all motion options off but the bulk of my use is in game mode and freesync and the motion seems great to me.

It's lagging and stuttering. If I turn motion off it's even worse.

Ah ok, I did watch Infinity War UHD and that seemed fine to me, the only thing I had to absolutely disable was clear action, I can see the flickering and it hurts my eyes!

Nope, all off. Didn't notice any stuttering or lagging. Maybe my eyes are just use to having everything off, how I set my plasma as well

We all have our variations. I'm counting on senile bad memory making seeing movies again seem like new movies
