No I didn't not wipe my screen. Only thing I did was removing the "cardboard" strips on the sides which were connected to a screen protector. I was a bit surprised how firmly they were attached pretty firmly to the TV, but they only were stripes on the sides and the weird stain is all over the TV, so that should not be related.

If you are talking about Spiderman then Yes, also Shadow of the Tomb Raider has a very underexposed HDR and both has more contrast to them in SDR mode, but in a game like Forza Horizon 4, after you calibrate the in-game HDR settings it's bright and beautifull. Also I don't want to insult you bu have you turned off all the Eco settings under General Settings?

Lastly, take not that PC mode HDR is darker than Game Mode HDR, whether not using Game Mode.

I clearly stated that hdr game mode is darker than the other hdr modes. Keyword hdr. I never not once compared hdr game mode to sdr. Sorry for sounding extremely frustrated but I've been very clear. Please read my replies again and please understand what I'm talking about so I don't have to repeat again. Hdr game mode is darker than other H-D-R modes using the same settings. Eco mode is off, uhd color etc. is on and everything else is correct and my power cable is also plugged in lol.

If the front part of the moving Cube or Circle, especially the big ones and when they are moving fast, is a bit dimmer (because the TV's processing and led array lights can't keep up with them), then your local dimming is working as intended. I also think the backlight lights up faster in Game Mode as there is less darkens in the front region of the objects. And finally, I don't see much of a difference when changing the level of dimming from Low to High either, but the dimming IS working or the blacks would be washed out greys when showing bright objects on screen.

Local dimming is working great in all other modes other than hdr game. This is not an hdr clip so I cannot use this to test hdr game mode.

If you find a spot in Spiderman where almost the entire screen is virtually pitch dark (I was standing on a roof top looking down at it during night time) but you have one small area of bright light. If the screen stays black your dimming is working. If you have full screen grayish blacks all the time, no matter what, then perhaps your panel is broke. I actually my first one was faulty, the bottom half of the screens led array didn't dim properly and the blacks were never black compared to the top part of the screen. The thing is as I keep repeating, the dimming settings Low-High doesn't make a lot of difference, but that doesn't mean that Local Dimming as whole isn't working.

Here is a video of me toggling the between the Local Dimming settings, notice how the bright areas are flaring up, something is happening for sure. Also notice how you don't see anything happening while we see most of the city only when the majority of the screen area is pitch black and you have some areas of light will you notice anything happening.

Has there been a new firmware in the U.S. in the last few weeks? I saw some posts about it, but was not sure if people are downloading ones from other regions. As of a few days ago my set is showing no new firmware.

Thanks!

Thanks! Wonder why U.S. consumers are not getting the better firmware? It would be nice to have something with better black crush control.

Contrast Enhancer is giving you an incorrect image, it's exaggerating contrast at the expense of an accurate image. Use it if you like, it helps in Spiderman but that is because the games HDR is badly implemented. A game like Gran Turismo it would look wrong. Typically you enable it in a day environment in eg Spiderman then you get to night time and suddenly things are way to bright for the night.

Right but the brightness level in movie mode is just right but in game mode it’s not right. You can’t blame the game when it looks just fine in other modes.

Here is an example which shows the broken local dimming in hdr game mode side by side with hdr movie mode which is working normally.

Is it broken though? Local Dimming is a process that needs CPU time from the TV resulting in higher input lag.
More processing, more input lag. Game mode is supposed to have minimum amount of lag and processing...

I can guarantee that version 1153.3 has worst blacks crush. Try set the Energy Saving to High and this TV is a complete mess. After 5min you will see uncontrolled local dimming in black scenes and it's completely impossible to watch television. If you change the Energy Saving to low or medium the effect is more rare and less visible.

The update seems to improve image quality and it fix two or three bugs that i knew. Oddly, it removed part of the little DSE that existed.

If you are even remotely interested in obtaining the best picture quality (probably why most people are here) then one of the first items on the checklist is to turn off 'Energy saving mode'.

Yes, i never seen any problem with black crush if the Energy Saving is turn off, but I have a child who watches television at night and I need to turn on the Energy Saving so it will not be so aggressive to his eyes. But is indeed a great television, only this black crush that needs to be corrected by Samsung.

If someone wants to try, turn the Energy Saving to high and you will see that it is impossible to enjoy the image in black scenes, the local dimming it's a complete mess.

Hdmi on this tv

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well !

So, i'm a dummy and i recently bought the Q9FN 65' and also got the ps4 pro.
What's the best hdmi cables i can get to set my ps4 pro connected to my soundbar and the soundbar connected at my one connect box via arc ?
Or should i just not care and go for the amazon cable around 6 feet long ? I'm just aware that some cable aren't good enough to hit the 18gbps and perfom well at [email protected] HDR10.

Thanks to any answer !
