I would normally wish you good luck with your new TV, but with the way you said that I’ll just say...

Have fun with your burn in and greyscale uniformity issues.

To all Q9FN owners: what is your take on the black crush issue after months of owning the TV?

I've seen videos on YouTube comparing it to other TVs and SO much information is lost on movies. It feels like a deal breaker for me, but I do want as little blooming as possible.

There is a little black crush, not usually dramatic but it is there. I might notice it fleetingly once every couple of weeks.

Can not a agree more, never seen a perfect TV yet, and OLED is not perfect either. The grass is not always greener.

Going back to a few blu rays and testing some scenes over the past few weeks, it's not anywhere as bad as it was. It either got fixed or reduced alot over the last firmware or my eyes are playing tricks on me. No issues on mine, had it since September.

There is no E8 77", only the C8 and W8 come in that size and then it more than doubles in price to go to a W8.

Just for a brief period of 10 seconds a Disney+ app appeared on my home screen the other day. Has anyone noticed this? It was just there and clicking it did nothing, and when i rebooted my set it was gone.

If black crush bothers you, steer clear. No way around that without elevating the non crushy scenes. I had 5 of these that I swapped out for various reasons and even had a pro calibration done and unfortunately there is no fix.

I hear there is a fix now, you have to go on the Q9FN web browser and order a Q90R.

But does it help to reduce the blooming significantly? More than any other brand?

Or is blooming still present enough that black crush is not worth it as a method to try to prevent blooming?

You have the Q90R right? Is it much better on it? Or is black crush still present?

Q9fn handles blooming extremely well for an lcd. My q90r has no black crush.

Q9fn handles blooming extremely well for an lcd but there's plenty of crush. No crush on my q90r and it handles blooming just as well. Keep in mind there is a lottery with all the sets. This is my experience on all 5 of my q9fn sets but there are people on this thread that have no issues on theirs so I am probably just unlucky.

I calibrated with optimized base settings then upped brightness one tick. The one tick doesn't affect my black level visually. I spend several hours calibrating with different base settings to get the best combination. The biggest problem is that adjustments for the darkest gray level, 7 IRE, happen in significant jumps so you basically end up with either too dark or too bright. I adjust the base settings so I get it on the bright but not too bright side without compromising the other levels after AutoCal.

The other problem with getting a proper calibration is the highlights are overblown. You need to let these be overblown so the lower levels get a proper calibration, but the panels seem to handle these well without apparent white crush.

Of course every panel will react somewhat differently. Hopefully they can ameliorate these in the next FW update.
