I'm also a car enthusiast and we don't pick on each other for not going over hundreds of parameters in maximizing every tiny thing for our tunes for them either, sometimes presets on a TV are definitely close enough. I'm just using Rtings recommended settings including the advanced 11 pt and color space settings, which obviously don't apply to my exact panels. While some people do insist personally on a perfect calibration, there is no reason to be so cynical and condescending to others that don't need that level of perfection either. Not that you are, per se, but that's what you're suggesting with that kind of comment, I'd be open to hearing clarification if that's not the case.
Yes Natural and default settings for those who what to spend time watching a great pic rather than muddle it up. Samsung engineers came up with great defaults. Besides personal preference only works for a one person TV. Don't assume anyone else prefers your settings over defaults.

I tried that. I saw forum post on this in the past, thought it was common. Do you always get the correct info. What's your setup? Thanks!

I don't think that there is. If I watch on my shield I get the same results. I'd have to say that Amazon prime has a better HDR selection. Maybe because it's hdr10+

Does that statement hold true for both SDR and HDR content? This Color Space stuff is somewhat confusing as to what's the appropriate setting to choose for viewing a particular type of broadcast/content (disregarding Custom Color Space for now). My only viewing source is via my compressed-signal Humax 210H STB/DVR (supplied by Spectrum Cable), and Native Color Space "looks" better to my untrained eye, in that background colors are not as bright or washed out when compared with the Auto Color Space option (again, everything is in non-streaming SDR, no HDR content involved here whatsoever), although there is not a huge difference that I can discern between those two settings for SDR programming (the out-of-the-box Samsung factory setting for Color Space was "Native" for Standard Picture Mode, which is the mode I use) . Am I actually doing a disservice to the viewing experience if the Humax box is capable of sending 10-bit color (no idea if it is or not?) but I have Color Space set on 8-bit Native? Also, does your comment comport with what Samsung explains, albeit in a dumbed-down fashion for non-calibrator owners like me, at the following web page?

Thanks for that link, I remember seeing something like that before so I don't know why I got it in my head that Native was 8-bit. I can admit when I was wrong, sorry for the misinformation on my part.

Native is still an inaccurate setting, it's using the entire wide color gamut for SDR which is over saturating your colors, or not giving the content as the directer intended you to see. I suppose you could still subjectively like Native better, but if you don't care about 'true to the content' I honestly don't know why anyone would buy a premium TV.

As far as using Native for HDR, i still think Auto would be using the color correctly for the source and Native would be adding color to a scene that shouldn't be there. Look at Wonder Woman, for example. The director shot that with muted colors and a very monotone feel to the world to give it a retro look, but when I turn Native on in that movie this morning it over saturated some things. This is more than likely why it's recommended to use Native for HDR+ mode, it's using the full color the TV can produce to make things "pop" and using whatever algorithm the TV uses to "enhance" the content.

Think of it this way; Native isn't saying native to the content, it's native to the TV. Auto is auto adjusting to the content.

Hi All

i recently bought a 55 Q9FN for my living room direct from samsung and everything about the screen is great... except when watching football

i mainly use an NVIDIA shield for 90% of my content (not tried sky yet) and when watching football from the BT Youtube channel the motion is clearly blurry and choppy and not right (same goes for the native YT app)

i currently have a Sony 43 X800D in my bedroom and that handles football really well. ive tried changing the Auto motion plus settings Blur reduction to 10 and judder to 0 and its improved it but it still doesnt seem right

is that all i can do?

i normally buy Sony TVs and i understand they are the best for motion so maybe im spoiled
im still under 28 days so considering returning it and getting a XF90 55/65 or even the KD65ZF9

i would like to keep the Q9FN tho as everything else about it is perfect for my needs like the one connect box and no gap mount
if only i can sort this out

I would agree that Sony’s motion *software* is better, but I’m not a fan of motion software in general... have you tried turning Automotion off to see if you like it that way?

So to get true HDR 10 bit color the color space must be set to Auto?

And just to be clear, everyone else on 1251 has the same "problem" as me with Dynamic and Natural modes not saving different settings for SDR and HDR anymore?

I haven't seen anyone confirm this when I asked previously. Just want to be sure it's not my TV only.

But it previously did right? Cause I remember trying every mode in HDR with specific settings in each mode being saved separately for HDR.

I hate to say this as I normally disable any tweaking features, but I've been finding Auto (no pun intended) for Auto Motion Plus quite unobtrusive for movies / shows.

Maybe I'm more allergic to jerkiness than soap. I didn't notice it when I switched from the jerkiness I was getting in Disabled. I'll be on conscious look-out for it.

Anyone move this tv? I have the 75 inch and I’m moving in three weeks and don’t have the original box (1 bedroom condo no where to store it) those boxes that adjust only fit up to 70 and you have to remove the stand? I feel like the best bet is to vigorously wrap it in bubble wrap and blankets and move it standing upright in the stand, I might have to hire separate movers just for the tv

What is the correct setting for the contrast option in expert picture settings? What does it do exactly?

Can it improve the blacks or reduce blooming even more?
