After just over two weeks of waiting, I FINALLY took delivery of my 75" Q9FN. The box was in good shape and the delivery crew said they were instructed to power it up before leaving to make sure the screen wasn't broken. Everything looked good as far as I could tell, but I was still a bit anxious as I knew I wouldn't be able to get a real good look at it until it was mounted on the wall.
The next morning, once I did get it on the wall... wow! Coming from a roughly 7 year old Samsung 55" it is a CONSIDERABLE difference. I wanted to put it threw its paces and try out a few things - first thing I watched was Transformers 4 on Prime which said it was 4k version. Started on Standard setting, switched to Movie halfway through. I like both settings, though I probably prefer Movie color tones overall. Looked and sounded great (using Nakamichi Shockwafe Elite 7.2 soundbar & dual subs). I've never actually seen 4k before... that said, I couldn't tell a massive difference between that and HD, but it looked good nonetheless. Maybe it wasn't able to stream full 4k as where I live all I can get is 15mbps.
Next I tried the "broken" game mode on Xbox One S. I played F1 2018. As I connect HDMI through my Nakamichi, it didn't automatically switch to game mode, but after doing so manually, the colors really pop and everything looks great. No blooming or other problems I'd read of others experiencing. Playing a game like that on a 75" screen is pretty awesome!
I couldn't really find anything on Netflix that listed it as HDR that I felt like watching last night anyway, but looking forward to Stranger Things S3 which I suppose will be a good test. I did try Breaking Bad which is listed in 4k. Only watched a few minutes as I don't really want to get sucked back into binge watching that again, but that did look quite clear and detailed.
Lastly, I watched Jurrasic World FK on HBO Now (from the TV) which all they support is 1080. Also looked and sounded great.
Anyway, I didn't notice any motion issues or black crush like I've read about. It just looks like a natural progression from the 55" Samsung I'm used to, plus way bigger and better of course! Blacks are definitely BLACK!
I'm nowhere near the expert in audio/video that most of you guys are, but for a normal guy who isn't going out of his way to look for problems, or maybe doesn't know any better, I LOVE this thing! Super happy with it! Thank you all for your input and expertise as it is so very helpful in making this kind of purchase.
Edit: I also bought a pair of USB fans off Amazon to pull air away from the One Connect box. I had read about someone else using additional fans and liked the idea. Can't hurt. Pretty cool they auto power off once the TV is shut off for a min or two.
