Seeing as they're working on the new models which no doubt inherit some of the tech, there could be software improvements trickling down.

This download might be done sometime after lunch
Keep me posted. I might update later. Samsung sucks at updating older models with improvements from newer ones

Well, at least it still works . I'll be a couple of days to get a glimpse of changes that affect me. I don't use any apps or the remote so I'm no help there.

I'm downloading now. I doubt I'll notice anything. Most likely they reverted something that was messed up

From reading the Samsung forums, lots of people were having issues with bluetooth issues, myself included. Samsung sent out a new remote but that did not fix the problem. Didn't seem to effect everyone but enough of an issue to maybe roll back a bluetooth driver..

Native is still an inaccurate setting, it's using the entire wide color gamut for SDR which is over saturating your colors, or not giving the content as the directer intended you to see. I suppose you could still subjectively like Native better, but if you don't care about 'true to the content' I honestly don't know why anyone would buy a premium TV.

As far as using Native for HDR, i still think Auto would be using the color correctly for the source and Native would be adding color to a scene that shouldn't be there. Look at Wonder Woman, for example. The director shot that with muted colors and a very monotone feel to the world to give it a retro look, but when I turn Native on in that movie this morning it over saturated some things. This is more than likely why it's recommended to use Native for HDR+ mode, it's using the full color the TV can produce to make things "pop" and using whatever algorithm the TV uses to "enhance" the content.

Think of it this way; Native isn't saying native to the content, it's native to the TV. Auto is auto adjusting to the content.
I oddly like vivid picture popping colors. I know, thats crazy. But I use...dynamic. I love it but now you make it sound like I havent had HDR this whole time. Is that true? Can you explain what I should do liking popping colors but wanting HDR. Thanks!

HDR is all about meta data that controls the color and contrast, so you see what the director intended you to see. Native is adding more color to the source, so you aren’t getting the director’s intent.

Some people don't care what the director intended, they just want eye-popping colors regardless

technically it does. if you scroll down on the settings menu on both Dynamic and Natural, the gamma setting has automatically changed to ST2084 which is hdr. if those modes were only working as sdr, then it would say St1886. the white points and colors are locked to director unintended values, but it's still hdr.

So it is 10 bit HDR still? I mean doesn't HDR start with 10bit and all this tv could even do?

I don't even understand how it couldn't be HDR when the TV says HDR is on when it is under the dynamic logo. Plus the devices say it is HDR. Plus 4k blu's play with HDR in general. Maybe what is trying to be said is it is HDR 10 bit but just not proper HDR 10 bit?

rec709 is not locked to 8 Bit. you can do 709 10 bit. as a matter of fact, the SDR 4k Blu rays out there are 709 10 bit discs. changing the color space only changes the colors, it doesn't effect anything else. funny thing is that with the 2019 Samsungs, a lot of people who used AUTO on the 2018 tvs, are now using NATIVE on the 2019 sets because the auto setting is way undersaturated. When i had the Q9FN and KS9800 side by side, the colors were out of whack. and by that i mean that some colors didn't have the same pop as the KS9800 (which i used auto on that tv) with auto on the Q9 and had to be turned to NATIVE to match (particularly the blues). so i find that i get brighter and more poppy reds with auto and better blues with native.

So far nothing major. Maybe a little better handling of the lowest IRE level and color. Hard to tell at the moment. Still get the occasional no picture and have to power off and on. But again I don't game or use any of the apps or remote.

It happens sometimes when switching between BD, DVD and streaming. You only stream (I think) so it doesn't get confused .

After just over two weeks of waiting, I FINALLY took delivery of my 75" Q9FN. The box was in good shape and the delivery crew said they were instructed to power it up before leaving to make sure the screen wasn't broken. Everything looked good as far as I could tell, but I was still a bit anxious as I knew I wouldn't be able to get a real good look at it until it was mounted on the wall.

The next morning, once I did get it on the wall... wow! Coming from a roughly 7 year old Samsung 55" it is a CONSIDERABLE difference. I wanted to put it threw its paces and try out a few things - first thing I watched was Transformers 4 on Prime which said it was 4k version. Started on Standard setting, switched to Movie halfway through. I like both settings, though I probably prefer Movie color tones overall. Looked and sounded great (using Nakamichi Shockwafe Elite 7.2 soundbar & dual subs). I've never actually seen 4k before... that said, I couldn't tell a massive difference between that and HD, but it looked good nonetheless. Maybe it wasn't able to stream full 4k as where I live all I can get is 15mbps.

Next I tried the "broken" game mode on Xbox One S. I played F1 2018. As I connect HDMI through my Nakamichi, it didn't automatically switch to game mode, but after doing so manually, the colors really pop and everything looks great. No blooming or other problems I'd read of others experiencing. Playing a game like that on a 75" screen is pretty awesome!

I couldn't really find anything on Netflix that listed it as HDR that I felt like watching last night anyway, but looking forward to Stranger Things S3 which I suppose will be a good test. I did try Breaking Bad which is listed in 4k. Only watched a few minutes as I don't really want to get sucked back into binge watching that again, but that did look quite clear and detailed.

Lastly, I watched Jurrasic World FK on HBO Now (from the TV) which all they support is 1080. Also looked and sounded great.

Anyway, I didn't notice any motion issues or black crush like I've read about. It just looks like a natural progression from the 55" Samsung I'm used to, plus way bigger and better of course! Blacks are definitely BLACK!

I'm nowhere near the expert in audio/video that most of you guys are, but for a normal guy who isn't going out of his way to look for problems, or maybe doesn't know any better, I LOVE this thing! Super happy with it! Thank you all for your input and expertise as it is so very helpful in making this kind of purchase.

Edit: I also bought a pair of USB fans off Amazon to pull air away from the One Connect box. I had read about someone else using additional fans and liked the idea. Can't hurt. Pretty cool they auto power off once the TV is shut off for a min or two.
