Thanks,

So you mentioned that yours used to do this too but apparently it does not happen anymore?

Did it just begin to remember the HDMI sources one day and the problem stopped? If so, do you have any idea why that might be and what fixed it?

I realize it’s still functional but it’s more of a quality of life kinda thing. It’s annoying having to turn freesync off for the PS4 every time and the Switch does not even have an Auto option for game mode, so it needs to be turned on each time. Not to mention, the tiles just look better on the Smart Hub when it’s all labeled nicely.

A possible fix is what I’m looking for and if anyone can help with that, it would be much appreciated.

2018 Samsung Q9FN ''Owners thread'' ''No price talk''

Got a very weird problem - HDR mode is no longer working on Amazon or Netflix when watching HDR content.

Anyone else encountered this? How can I fix it?

EDIT - Ignore me - for some reason the backlight was at 20....

My Samsung UN65F8000 (purchased March 2013) received it's last firmware update in February 2017. Basically 4 years.

I think the last one cleaned up Smart Hub by removing a bunch of apps that were no longer supported.

Samsung: QN65Q90RAFXZA 4K HDR TV * Panasonic: DP-UB820 4K HDR Blu Ray * Onkyo: TX-RZ920 A/V Receiver * M&K: S-150 THX Speakers & DIY: 15" Subwoofer w/ E.D. E15a.22 Driver & Rythmik Audio 380w AMP * URC: MX-990 Universal Remote & MRF 260 Base Station * Samsung: Galaxy S10 Plus

Hoping someone can help me out with my q9fn 65. I contacted Samsung support and we completed a reset and it helped for a little while.

When I turn the tv off about 20-30 seconds after there is a flash on the tv screen which in turn about 5-10 seconds later automatically turns the sound bar on which is connected wirelessly to the tv via Bluetooth. The Samsung rep said that the reset released the “static buildup”. Anyhow has anyone had this problem? I can catch the flicker on video because it happens so fast. Please help! Any ideas?

The only reason it bothers me is because I’ve realized I have to turn the sound bar on manually every now and again because it turns itself off after no use from not being paired to anything. So I finally figured out why because the tv flickers and turns the sound bar on.

I love the tv but this is annoying now that I found it.

Optical Soundbar Issue

One repeated problem i have is that for some reason (sometimes mutiple times per day, sometimes a couple of times a week) is that the TV loses its source connection to my Yahama soundbar which is connected via optical cable.
The TV then attempts to set it up again but fails and I have to manually set it up by selecting manufacturer and performing the power test until it finds it.

On rarer occasions the TV also loses the Amazon Firestick source.

Does anyone else have this annoying issue?

Yes and No. The Ziggo box is what is giving me the flat, washed-out colors. And Netflix (even on the new Ziggo Media Box next) does not give me HDR or 4K options on the Ziggo box.

Hmm mine box gives 4k and HDR, the only thing I do is when the movie or serie is played in 4k just use the samsung remote while playing the serie or movie in 4k and go to settings and the TV sees its 4k and will switch to that resolution.

There is no static buildup in a TV. Also bluetooth is a horrible choice for tv audio, it's so compressed. I have noticed I have an led strip backlight on my tv plugged into usb of one connect box, when I turn the tv off, the LED turns off, but then turns back on and then a minute or so later turns off again. Not the same, but not really the correct mode of operation either.

Wow I’m half asleep. I went ahead and connected it via HDMI cable. It did solve my problem of it turning on by itself but I guess I should have always had the sound bar hooked up that way. Always had the cable, just never did it.

I am considering this TV, the Samsung Q70, Vizio Quantum X or LG C8 Oled. Anyone have one of those other TVs and can compare it to this one? I don’t care about viewing angles and just want really good picture quality and black levels for DirecTV, video games and an occasional 4k movie. Based on everything I’ve read in these forums, the Q9 or C8 Oled seem to be the best for me. The Quantum X is one of the best on paper but people in their forum seem to complain about a lot of issues. I don’t see many complaints here in this Q9 forum.

I can say that Q9 is absolutely amazing for video games. Lots of people seem to think it even beats the newer Q90 so it most certainly better then the Q70. Oled's are great but the fixed HUDs of video games still concerns me when it comes to burn in and is the main reason I went with Q9 over an oled.

Question - I have a new Q6FN - but have a question on the 1270.6 firmware

I saw my update notice last night - can I apply this and keep my existing settings?

Or will it revert to default needing me to re-calibrate it again?

Firmware updates do not mess with your settings, so you're fine

I ended up pulling the trigger on a 65” LG C8. I did a lot of research and couldn’t justify paying $400 more for the Q9. I was hoping to find the Samsung Q9 for around the same price but couldn’t. I’m worried about burn-in but spent money on an extended warranty and have extra 2 years through my credit card. Fingers crossed.

I also think the next 12 months of LCD technology is going to far surpass this generation and I don’t think OLED is going to improve much. So, I’m hoping my C8 holds its value better. The TCL 8 Series has a lot of promise and I’m sure others will improve a lot too.

The q90 as we know can do [email protected] at 4.2.0 chroma and over hdmi 2.0 on hdmi4 connection only. Can someone explain if the same could be done on the 2018 range or at least on the top model which is the q9?? Could someone with knowledge briefly explain if yes and why if not? If not, how can it be that the q90 can do it over the hdmi 2.0??
Thanks

2018 Q9FN only support [email protected] or [email protected] unfortunately. Why ? I'm not sure if it's a hardware or software issue, but I guess it's more hardware related otherwise you could do it on every q90 hdmi port. For [email protected] on the Q9FN, the only hope is an upgrade box kit (with HDMI 2.1 support), but I doubt it's gonna happen.

I think the q9 is the best lcd you can get right now. I was in the same boat and was going to get the c8 last year. I game and burn in was a concern. I also prefer a brighter TV so I pulled the trigger. I don't regret my decision. We will see if TCL can pull it off

1. HDMI 2.0 cannot transmit over 18 GB gross (and even less)
A video card cannot transmit over 18 GB gross no matter what HDMI cable you have.

Just picked up a Q9. New to this topic.

Anyone notice how quick this TV boots? Is this TV always on stand by? Is there a way to do a slow boot like the older Samsung TV so that when you gave it off its completely off? Or unplugging it the only way?

I also noticed after I installed a LED back light and powered it through the OCB via USB that when the TV is powered off, the LED light remains on. Is this a glitch?
